Azoth's Barriers is a type of Caster Magic and Cosmic White Art created by none other than Haruhi Kaneko herself shortly before her ascension and as one may guess from who created it this White Art uses the desire improve for the sake of peace. It is magic that revolves around the creation and manipulation of barriers made out of inner azoth whose durability and capabilities far surpass those seen in Barrier Magic. Currently the only users of this magic are a few members of the Kaneko family and a few other people outside of the family. The reason for why it is so rare despite its power is because it was only recently invented and the only way to learn it is from the Church of Azoth or Haruhi's siblings.

Azoth's Barriers is purely defensive magic, which considering who created the magic should come as no surprise. In order to use this magic a white mage must first create inner azoth. This is done by using their knowledge of magic alongside their outer aligned reason for improvement to connect their piece of azoth with their magic power. This influences their magic power transforming it into inner azoth, which is the purple energy White Arts revolves around. Once done the mage releases their inner azoth then uses the Shape Transformation skill to make it both a solid, but still an energy. A non newtonian energy one could call this mages simply refer to it azoth's barriers. These barriers are usually purple like the energy that is used to create it, but it doesn't have to be. The color of an azoth barrier can change to reflect the color of one's magical pressure. For example, a mage whose main magic is Fire Magic would have a an azoth barrier that is red. The purple coloring is only seen in the Kaneko Clan, members of the Church of Azoth, or those who have made this magic their primary form of magic.
A mage creating a barrier to protect children
Azoth barriers are impossible to break much like the barriers created by the creator's flyrokinesis suggesting this magic was invented to give others the ability to create her barriers. Hence the name. Apparently the name of this magic was originally Peace Magic with an alternative name for it being Apotropaic Magic, but after Haruhi's ascension it was changed to Azoth's Barriers by members of her religion. Now the name most people use is Azoth's Barriers with the exception of Haruhi's family. In any case, once created a white mage is able to use their mind to control and shape the barrier to their desire so long as it isn't offensive. A mage can easily create a barrier large enough to cover an entire city or small enough to trap a single gnat. The barriers response to the mage's wishes instantly allowing the mage to use a single barrier for multiple subsequent uses. A barrier can also be enchanted with a variety of defensive abilities by flowing magic power into it such as absorbing, drawing attacks to it, or reflecting attacks.
This magic does have several weaknesses. As mentioned before it can't be used offensively preventing someone from doing stuff like creating a barrier in the shape of a sword or throwing barriers at opponents as projectiles. However, it goes beyond just that. When a barrier is active a mage is unable to use any offensive spells from any magic forcing them to stay on the defensive until they choose to dismiss the barrier. Secondly, the more this magic is used the less the mage will want to fight. This is a weakness implanted in the magic from how Haruhi created it. Just like overusing Devil Slayer Magic can turn one into a demon overusing this magic will turn one into a pacifist forever with no way of undoing it once the conversion is complete. The mere thought of fighting will seem as revolting to them as it is for Haruhi. Learning this magic is akin to signing an agreement. One gains the ability to use a replica of Haruhi's barriers, but in exchange a mage agrees to become a pacifist at some point in the future. The conversion process is slow usually taking five years to complete, which gives people more than enough time to stop using it if they choose not to become a pacifist. Interestingly, once the conversion is complete the magic becomes a lot stronger. Strong enough to encase an entire country in a barrier at the cost of 80% of their magic power suggesting the more one values peace the stronger the magic becomes.
