Bezaliel the Emanation (奥伝暗影神の幽霊臨場感(ベザリエル·ザ·エマネイション), Bezarieru Za Emaneishon; lit. "Haunted Presence of the Esoteric Shadow Deity") is something eldritch in nature, alluding to Phobos Kydoemusca's status as a wraith-like entity and inherently wicked nature; while not a member of the Black Arts, surprisingly enough, it's considered to be one of the few magics that's classified as a Black Magic — skills dedicated to causing harm to its victims, albeit on a smaller scale but without the backlash, unlike the aforementioned. According to Phobos — its creator and sole user, the magical skill is described as, in his vile and repugnant words, "becoming completely one in the darkness, immersed in its evils and embracing it in its entirety." It's considered to be his favorite and the reason why he's nigh-invincible in combat, unable to be touched even by the most powerful of adversaries.

It's later explained by Zetsubō Usuguraiboshi — his fellow Spriggan and partner-in-crime, that the skill is somewhat a composite of multiple magics dealing with defense and evasion, specifically: Shadow Magic, Phasing Magic, Concealment Magic, Reflector, and Teleportation Magic respectively — something that's rather difficult to pull off, even for the most skilled and competent of mages, denoting to the Spriggan's magical prowess. Of all the magics in Phobos' possession, this is the only one that barely has any offensive capabilities, branding it as an incredible versatile supplementary spell. When combined with his other deadly magics and skills, it's able to instill a sense of fear and doubt to those that oppose him, thus alluding to both his namesake and epithet.

Overview[]

"Have you ever felt it? A presence that you can't seem to shake off no matter what you do? When you look around, you know nothing is there and immediately come to the conclusion your mind is playing tricks on you. But.... you still feel the chills, the haunting stare of someone or something there with you. Though you can't see them, they can you. It eventually drives you mad and fills you with paranoia; as you lose that sense of reason, the presence becomes more powerful — as if it's hunting you down and wanting to consume your entirety. You run and run, but come to a realization; you can't escape them no matter what you do. You give in, you destiny fading into black. All hope is lost and you're at their mercy. It's at that moment, the thing you fear most, the eerie presence that haunts the very core of your being..... becomes real."
— Phobos' eerie analogy his usage of this unique skill.

Trivia[]

  • To an extent, the author admits the skill is based off of the Kamui from the anime/manga series, Naruto, albeit with slight and somewhat obvious differences. To an extent, it was also based on Ban's technique, Zero Sign, from the anime/manga series, Nanatsu no Taizai, and Guenael Lee's scrift power, V - Vanishing Point, from the anime/manga series, Bleach.
  • The name of this magic comes from the angel Bezaliel, who's known as the Angel of Shadows, as read in the Angelarium. This is also a play on Phobos' condition as a wraith-like entity and incredible abilities as a spy, with the aforementioned having no definite shape and is nearly omnipresent — staying within the shadows while watching over the world.
