"Profound and complex woman, hidden behind a cool and airy facade."
— Astro.

Coeur de Thelxinoe (コイアー ド セルクスイノイ Koiaa do Serukusuinoi) is a young woman proficient in a variety of art forms and the Guild Master of Muses Manicure. Secondarily, Coeur is often referred to as "Gelatin Woman" (ゼラチン女, Zerachin Onna), for her unique control over Water Magic and Water-Make, particularly in giving it a gelatinous and gooey consistency. Her expert control over Water Magic paired with her artistic abilities has gained her the name "Gelatinous Genius" (ゼラチン状の天才, Zerachin-jō no Tensai), and many prominent people in Earth Land's art world refer to her using this name. Her works can be found across Ishgar, and Fiore is proud of the young artist's successes at such a young age.

Coeur's mother died while giving birth to her, and her father had abandoned her mother late in the pregnancy, and so she was raised by her last living relative, her grandmother Arche de Thelxinoe. As Coeur has been growing up her grandmother realized that an artist's salary was not a living wage for more than one person. Her grandmother then banded together with other mages in the region and made Muses Manicure, a guild based around creating art and selling it for money. Being surrounded by so many versatile artists growing up, Coeur grew to be fond of art and all it had to offer.

Surrounded by art, and the joys of her childhood, it was there she decided that mastering Water Magic to be able to create and manipulate Gelatin would be her goal. Other artists proficient in a variety of fields taught her how to use a plethora of magic and taught her in a variety of art theory. To create statues she developed an understanding of Ice Magic, freezing her gelatin into magnificent structures. She developed a strong sense of artistic inspiration, and spent many years perfecting her craft alongside everyone. Once Coeur had turned 21, and had become the top-rated artist of Muses Manicure her grandmother stepped down from her position of Guild Master, and Coeur would step in as Second Guild Master.

Many were displeased with her selection over older, and presumably more qualified mages, and the numbers of mages in Muses Manicure dwindled. Over her ten years as Guild Master, however, things have changed and abundantly so. The Guild and Auction Hall is now a bustling center for artists of all ages, both mages and non-mages, booming far beyond what Arche had ever expected.

Appearance[]

Coeur full body

Coeur's full body appearance.

An abnormally tall woman, Coeur exists as a statuesque being that emanates beauty and grace. Her legs are long, making up for about two-thirds of her body, making her torso quite short. She stands at about 6'0" without her shoes on, but when she wears heeled shoes she can stand anywhere from 6'2" to 6'6", making her an intimidating form in any room. Her figure is all around very slender, with thin legs, a small waist, and long, svelte arms. Coeur is aware that her appearance is very intimidating, and she often enjoys pairing it with her reputation to garner respect even from strangers. Upon becoming Guild Master she tattooed the number "6" on both of her thighs, signifying that she is consistently above the 66 people who left Muses Manicure.

Her face is quite small, typically composed of soft, yet sharp features. Her jaw slopes gently to a chin that stands out sharply from her face. Her nose, similarly, has a soft slope to a proud and defined point. The most notable feature on her face, however, is the entirely soft feature of her lips, typically painted over in a light, glossy pink. Her eyes are an almond shaped cerulean blue, piercing in their gaze, lined with mascara-coated eyelashes. Hovering over her stunning eyes are her unique eyebrows, which are flat until the arch, where they tail off into a swirl. Her forehead is quite large in comparison to the rest of her face, and is only noticeable for the way she parts her deep pink colored hair. Chopped to around her shoulders, her hair is typically styled with some artistic liberty. She covers half of her face with her deep pink bangs, leaving her right eye covered most of the time. It seems to be a bit longer in the back, and typically it curls upwards, unlike the straighter hair she has in the front. Her complexion has always been quite clear, however she often covers it up with an amount of makeup, proficient in applying it well.

Many would comment on Coeur's style for being eccentric. There are an array of outfits she owns, however she has a tendency to wear a singular outfit most often. She likes wearing it, as she believes that it showcases her as both an artist and her unique personality as a Guild Master.

For more fancy events, however, Coeur does own a few different outfits. The most common outfit she wears on occasions that would view her day-to-day outfit as unprecedented is that of a simple light pink dress. It cuts down to just above the tattoos on the thighs and is quite simple in design. It features a high neckline and cap sleeves, with ruffling up the center of the dress. The collar itself is also ruffled around the brim, and to accessorize the dress a bit she often will tie a hot pink bow around the collar. On occasion, if the event calls for it, she pairs the dress with a bit more jewelry in the hopes of somewhat making the dress seem a bit fancier than it is. Most people are okay with her showing up to extravagant events dressed this way, simply on the grounds that she is an artist and typically isn't there to socialize but to perform for those who do. Coeur views this outfit as her most fancy, as it is her least eccentric, and so it fits more occasions than say her day-to-day outfit.

Personality and Traits[]

"There is a set of expectations of every Guild Master. If I do not come off as calm and collected all the time, that would worry my members would it not? Keeping this cool and collected demeanor is easy when I know it's for the better of those around me."
— Coeur on the way she acts.
Coeur Personality

Coeur's typical apathetic smile.

To describe Coeur in one word people would typically use the word "unfazed". Unlike the other members of her Guild, Coeur lacks a desire to express her worries or concerns, and seemingly any expression at all. Her grandmother was well known and loved for her calmness and her ability to act in any situation, no matter it's gravity, and so that is what Coeur believes she accomplishes by doing nothing but keeping a permanent smile on her face. The members of her Guild, however, would disagree. They see this constant smile as not only intimidating, but scary. No matter what is going on Coeur seems to be carefree enough to brush it off, smile, and devise a way around whatever is happening. Although this is somewhat admirable, it has created a bit of distance between her and many of the members of her Guild, as she doesn't express a lot of emotion, and hasn't done so for the past ten years.

Her reputation precedes her, and oftentimes when meeting people they will think of her the way she is on stage, unaware that she is actually quite apathetic and quiet in person. Her cool, callous tone is often received well by others, only on the basis of who she is. Had she not been such a prominent Guild Master with such an astounding profile of work, people would be quite scared of her. Many people who have known her since before her time as Guild Master often note that she used to be very full of strong emotions, that often pulled her one way or another, motivating her determination to do well. Now that she has done well and is consistently succeeding, her emotions have somewhat become second place to a need to continue a long and illustrious career.

Coeur is extremely determined, driven now only by her success. Succeeding is what has motivated her throughout her entire life, and for the most part she has only been met with victories. There are very few moments in life that Coeur considers a loss, and even those moments that others would consider bad memories she chalks up as wins. Coeur is very callous and unfeeling when it comes to people standing in the way of her success or having a lot of doubt in her, as expressed with the excommunication of 66 mages that took place ten years ago. Many people view this attitude as petty, however she doesn't care much for the opinions of anyone but artistic critics, who all worship her and her body of work.

Despite not showing it, Coeur is really still filled with her emotions, and has a hard time trying to express them to anyone. There are a few people, however, she is able to open up to. Arche, her grandmother, is one of them. Many of the people she met and befriended before her time as a Guild Master know her emotions well, and she finds it easy to talk to them. She keeps in contact with certain people from around Earth Land, and they are often able to talk her down from her emotional spikes when necessary. Having such strong emotions and not being able to express them freely anymore often hinders her.

History[]

Apprentice[]

Born in Macula, Coeur was the product of a marriage out of wedlock, with a runaway father and a mother who died in childbirth. With no parent to watch over her, her grandmother, Arche de Thelxinoe, took her in and raised her as her own daughter. The first few years of Coeur's existence were extremely tough. Her grandmother, a proficient Mage, made her living as a visual artist. She used her magic elaborately on a commission basis for the wealthy, providing them with elaborate statues or architecture otherwise unavailable without her help. In Macula she managed to gather enough work to support Coeur and herself, but just barely scraping by most of the time. Finding people who needed her work was difficult, and living paycheck to paycheck was not an efficient way of living, especially when unexpected costs would arise, seemingly at the worst possible times.

Coeur Young

A young Coeur in the Muses Manicure Guild Hall.

It was then Arche had a thought; establishing a Guild to make work more accessible to Mages similar to her, those who were interested in Magic as an art form. She named the Guild Muses Manicure, after a famous statue she focused her studies on when in art school, and the Guild managed to catch on. Although for the first few months, particularly with having to run the Guild out of their home, things were going extremely well for Arche and Coeur. They were able to make up the debts they owed, repair parts of their home and eventually managed to save enough to buy a Guild Hall. News of Arche's mild success and unique job system spread across Fiore, through word of mouth by satisfied customers. This resulted in an enormous influx of people, filling the Guild's dorms and effectively bringing in much more work. Joining Muses Manicure became a necessity for those who hoped to make living wages as an artist, and it was the creative environment that shaped Coeur into the woman she is today.

The people of the Guild were always interested in Coeur, she had a lot of creativity to offer as a young child, and her wisdom and insight managed to inspire people even back then. The Mages appreciated having her as a permanent fixture in the guild, and she was referred to as "Muses Manicure's Cheerleader". She herself was incapable of magic at the time, and so she would help out by fetching meals and supplies for the artists, or just being open to bouncing around ideas with anyone that needed her help. Arche appreciated her help, and noticed how much the people in the Guild responded to her and admired her. It made her proud as a grandmother and inspired a series of works in Arche's private collection. As Coeur got older they gave her an official position, her first "job" of sorts, as a Junior Assistant at the Guild.

She continued to spend her time doing grunt work for her Guild mates, but the thrill of a promotion motivated her. Coeur had a strong desire to become an artist herself. For several months she spent her time studying art theory under the watchful eye of her grandmother, and would go to the Guild offering plenty of discussion with the artists at work often debating things like technique, style and mediums. Her conversation piqued the interest of a lot of the Mages, and her conversations often got her wondering what her medium would really be once she became a Mage. Coeur spent months struggling with a decision, looking for inspiration wherever she could, but the answer became apparent when she brought one of the Mages her usual dessert - gelatin.

The Beginnings of a Gelatin Woman[]

"Grandma! Grandma! I know what I wanna do, I know what Magic I wanna use! I wanna make Gelatin!"
— Coeur informing her grandmother of her choice.

Coeur informed her grandmother of her decision almost as soon as she had thought of it. Her grandmother welcomed this decision and decided to help her work towards using Gelatin in whatever way she could. In communicating with other Mages in the Guild, it became clear that Water Magic was the easiest way to go in terms of developing a technique entirely reliant on Gelatin. As the Guild focused on the arts, there was a plethora of Water Mages that Coeur had access to. Arche had set her up with the most notable of all however, Daskyrios. Once a Mage for Orochi's Fin, he possessed an extreme amount of expertise and power, and was happy to take on a new Mage for his apprentice. Arche had already taught Coeur the basics in terms of how to use Magic, and so Daskyrios was able to focus entirely on teaching Coeur about Water Magic.

With an obvious affinity for Magic she was able to pick up the basics quickly. She learned Suisei (水優性, Suisei) within a matter of days, Temperature Shifting (温度転移, Ondoteni) in a matter of weeks, and by the end of the month Coeur was able to seamlessly utilize Phase Shifting (相転移, Sōteni) to the best of its abilities. Daskyrios noted how abnormal it was for a student to manage to accomplish such feats in such a short period of time, and referred to her as one of the best Water Mages he had ever seen. She continued to develop her techniques, sparring against the older members of Muses Manicure whenever she had the chance. Everyone was happy to help her, and she was able to even defeat a few of the mages that were around twice her age at the time. The people of the Guild were proud of her abilities, but Coeur was well aware that a lot more progress was required for her to be able to create the Gelatin she had dreamed of.

Her grandmother oftentimes tried to tell her that with her use of Magic she could now be considered a Mage of the Guild, but Coeur refused to accept her grandmother's offer until she had begun to successfully use Gelatin. This was what became difficult for Daskyrios and Coeur; developing a new technique to a magic is not easy. They spent days at a time locked away in the Guild trying to successfully create the effects Coeur had wanted. People often became worried about them, as they would go periods of time without eating or sleeping, and did nothing but focus on developing Gelatin. Several months into their study, Coeur made a breakthrough. She was finally able to conjure water in the form of Gelatin. Although this would have been enough for many to finally agree, she continued to hone her skills.

Daskyrios taught her for the next two years, perfecting her abilities in Water Magic and Water-Make, making sure that she would be able to create not only Gelatin, but Gelatin in its finest form. This period is often referred to as Coeur's Apprenticeship, and many of the works from this era were sold for a lot of money. Although not the best in terms of craftsmanship or creativity, the wealthy found her creation of intricate desserts fanciful, and it became a staple in the houses of the Maculan upper class. This is also the period she learned to handle Ice Magic at an advanced level. At the end of these two years Coeur decided that her successes in Gelatin were enough for her to finally agree to becoming a Mage, the youngest of Muses Manicure at the age of 14.

Muses Manicure's Brightest Star[]

"The way you perform is truly... Stunning. You're far beyond your years in talent, and you're destined for greatness."
— An influential critic in Fiore rooting for Coeur.

Despite her young age, her training made her one of the most sought after Mages of Muses Manicure. Shifting from Visual to Performance, people from far and wide would come to view her shows at the Muses Manicure Guild Hall. Her use of Gelatin was so interesting, and the spells she used so detailed. People admired her work, and Macula began to revere her as a town treasure. Her existence as a fixture in Muses Manicure drew in tourists and new Mages alike, causing business in Macula to increase drastically. She developed relationships with all of the town, often smiling and talking with people on the street, happy to provide for the people of her town. Daskyrios was proud of his student, and admired her work from a distance, interacting with her less and less the older she got.

She took a variety of jobs, travelling in and about Fiore to perform for a variety of people. People referred to her as "Gelatin Girl", and she became the spotlight of a variety of local news outlets. This drew a lot of attention towards her, and she grew a large fan base of sorts, that admired her particular use of magic. With this fan base, the once small town of Macula somewhat tripled in size and artists looked to Macula as a spiritual pilgrimage. This even larger influx of business caused young Coeur and her grandmother to have major influence over political powers in the city. This boosted the prominence of Muses Manicure, and local laws began to benefit them greatly. Most of the townspeople had no complaints; the increase in tourism was an increase in business and so they often thanked Coeur. With her success she attained S-Class status in Muses Manicure, quickly after joining the Guild.

At the age of 16, Coeur's talents somehow were recounted to the royal courts in Crocus, and the administrative body of Fiore took a liking to her. She was invited along with a few other members of her Guild to perform for the King of Fiore at a festival of sorts, and local Maculan government was thrilled. If everything went well Muses Manicure would skyrocket into superstardom, and with them Macula would benefit. Coeur was amazed when she arrived in Crocus, by the architecture, the people, the art. She was happy to be somewhere outside of small towns, but she was extremely nervous to be performing for someone with such high status in Fiore.

The day of the performance went terribly. Coeur was the last to perform, and each act that went before her had stumbled and screwed up. She knew that if she didn't perform to the best of her ability there was no way Muses Manicure would survive. Luckily, her performance was a hit. She created a variety of undersea creatures, and transformed her body into Gelatin, her legs taking the form of a mermaid's tail. On the spot she created a unique story with artistic meaning, and everyone in the room was shocked. She was praised repeatedly by the King, and her reputation began to spread across Ishgar like wildfire. Spending the next few years travelling across Ishgar, she became a renowned celebrity and a well known artist.

With her larger sphere of influence, more people had heard of her and more people had spread stories of her. Her reputation spread from continent to continent, and she became particularly famous in Alakitasia for her work. She performed for the elves of Nýlenda, the brutes of Iniuriose, but her crowning moment was her performance for the Alvarez Empire and all of the preparation that went in to it. Coeur had been invited to perform for the Alvarez Empire and was given a year to prepare, and she knew that if her performance was bad things could go terribly wrong.

Renaissance Woman[]

"Grandma, I'm worried. I know that this success could be great for our Guild, but what if things go wrong? Do you think the people would be forgiving of me?"
— Ariane's fear about performing for the intimidating Alvarez Empire.

Out of nothing but fear Coeur stopped taking jobs and only focused on how she would perform for the people of the Alvarez Empire. Her grandmother and Daskyrios both took significant periods of time off to try and work alongside her to make sure things were running smoothly, however Coeur was frustrated. She felt with her basic abilities there was nothing she could do that would be enough. Sure she could create beautiful things, but what's the point if her creations could be made by other mages who were advanced at Water Magic? This led to a period of depression. Coeur spent her days not knowing what to do with herself and she felt helpless. Arche knew she had to intervene.

One day when Coeur decided to make an appearance at the Guild Hall, her grandmother called her into one of the closed off rooms in the back of the Guild. A mage was sitting at the table when Coeur arrived. They spoke briefly before Arche spoke of what purpose the mage was there for. Arche revealed that she paid the mage a hefty sum to unlock Coeur's Second Origin. This unlocking of her Second Origin would realize her magic's full potential, and would make for a show that would really impress the people of the intimidating Alvarez Empire. Despite pain shooting through her body as the seals appeared, there was nothing Coeur could do but smile.

She mastered the use of her Second Origin quickly, developing a variety of Limitless Gelatin (無制限 ゼラチン, Museigen Zerachin) techniques. These techniques were astounding, and enormous in creation. Oftentimes they combined aspects of soft, firm and frozen Gelatin. These spells were extremely detailed, intricately designed meticulously by Coeur. Although some viewed this as a cheap fix, her talent was undeniable. With this newfound power she was certain that all things would go well on her trip to the Alvarez Empire.

Her performance was met with applause in it's highest form. The people of the Alvarez Empire near demanded to see more of her, and so she worked things out with Arche in that she would be able to perform on the continent of Alakitasia but still maintain her S-Class status in Muses Manicure. Her grandmother agreed and she spent the next few years touring various parts of the Alvarez Empire and areas on the continent. Her success was well met, and she amassed a significant amount of Alakitasian currency by the time she returned to Ishgar.

Gelatin Guild Leader[]

At the age of 21, Coeur had finally been able to return home. She converted her money from Alakitasian to Jewel, the currency of Fiore, and split up what she could with the people of her Guild. Her success caused many mages to join from the Alakitasian continent, and she was thrilled to see so many people join. Her grandmother was pleased with the successes of her granddaughter, and knew that with all of this success it was time. She caught Coeur up on the happenings within the Guild over the past few years and discussed with her the possibility of retirement.

Coeur agreed. Her grandmother had worked so hard for her for so many years, it was time to overturn the Guild. With the amount of money they were sitting on they could live extremely well off with only one source of income, and so it just made sense for Arche to finally get the rest she deserved. Coeur began to plan a party of sorts for her grandmother as a final send off from the Guild. She organized performances, got a caterer and organized the waitresses within the Guild Hall. Everyone was pleased with the idea of giving Arche a retirement party, and were all quite happy with the idea of Coeur taking care of nearly everything to make sure it got done.

The party was a success. Arche had been successfully surprised, merriment was well under way, but by the end of the night Arche had an announcement.

"I would like to make a toast. I suggest we all raise our glasses up for my granddaughter, the pride of Muses Manicure, Coeur de Thelxinoe. You have brought us much success and ensured our happiness at every turn. I couldn't have asked for a better, more caring, more talented granddaughter. You are truly the light of my life Coeur, and I am happy to announce on this evening that you will be replacing me as Guild Master, effective immediately."
— Arche de Thelxinoe.

Coeur looked around the room, seeing the faces of her Guild Mates. Some were extremely happy. The waitresses all cheered, and a number of her old friends celebrated her success. The older mages, however, were displeased. The people who taught her disliked the idea of having her outrank them. They muttered and grimaced as Arche made the announcement. Coeur was displeased with their reactions, and so she decided to follow up the toast.

"First of all, I would like to thank my grandmother for both that lovely toast and for appointing me as Guild Master. It came as a huge shock to me, and looking around at all of you, the looks on your faces, I think it came as a shock to a lot of you as well. And so I have decided, I will be enacting my first act of business as Guild Master tonight. If you are unhappy with this decision I am excommunicating you from Muses Manicure. Your time here has been well spent and we appreciate all you have done but it is time to part ways. I wish you nothing but happiness from here on out, so those of you who do not wish to return to a Guild run by me I implore you either leave now or continue to enjoy the nights festivities before never returning. Thank you."
— Coeur de Thelxinoe, and the beginnings of her apathetic attitude as she glared at the man who taught her everything she knew.

The next day the Guild Hall seemed much emptier than usual.

Ten Years in the Making[]

Coeur Meeting Clients

Coeur as Guild Master.

Coeur had been hurt. Seeing exactly 66 people she looked up to, the people she loved and admired so upset by her being appointed to a position of power. Her own father figure, Daskyrios, was one of ones who left, and that was what hurt her the most. Despite that, despite the hurting, despite the knowledge her Guild was now suffering, she knew as a Guild Master she had to make sure everything seemed fine. She plastered a smile on her face and kept a cool and airy attitude with anyone who hoped to speak to her. Immediately she spent the day on a Communications Lacrima Crystal with the various connections she had. Announcements were made across Ishgar and Alakitasia of her new status as Guild Master, and with the announcement was paired an invite to any willing artists to join Muses Manicure. The weeks following the invitation were hectic, as Coeur vetted hundreds of potential new Guild members. At the end of the month there were around two dozen new mages, and Muses Manicure's success remained unaffected.

Coeur did a variety of magazine spreads, being one of the youngest Guild Masters in Fiore. Interviews all drew attention to Muses Manicure and kept their name relevant. Coeur managed to both manage the Guild and deliver solid performances, while also dealing with the politics of being a Guild Master. Arche still helped out where she could, appearing around the Guild Hall to do some of the easier tasks, but the bulk of the work was handled by Coeur. The remaining people in the Guild admired her, and viewed her as an artistic inspiration. The work was draining but she loved what she did.

As an artistic commodity, members of Muses Manicure traveled Earth Land for the sake of various jobs, and happily so. Many of the artists managed to attain success themselves, but Coeur's reputation caused her to be the most in demand. She would still travel from time to time, setting up a Communications Lacrima Crystal to manage Guild work at whatever Inn she happened to be staying in, while also scouting local performers to join Muses Manicure. This was a successful way for her to manage work for several years, however now she has been spending more time at the Guild Hall, interacting more with her Guild members, ensuring personally that all things are running smoothly.

Magic[]

Supernatural Capabilities[]

Unlocked Second Origin: Despite having a naturally high magical capacity in the first place, Arche had given Coeur the opportunity to unlock her Second Origin over twelve years ago. This heightened capacity for ethernano allows Coeur to perform a variety of spells that otherwise would not be possible. Her capacity allows her to cast grander spells and continue to cast spells in succession for longer periods of time. This particular ability is what inspired her series of techniques referred to as Limitless Gelatin (無制限 ゼラチン, Museigen Zerachin), a form of magic that allows for her to create intricate spells on an extremely large scale. This is one of the major things that Coeur sources as being a part of her major magical abilities, and many people believe that the unlocking of her Second Origin is what really solidified her talents and put her past the other artists that arose from her generation.

Superhuman Magical Power: Despite Water Magic being a common ability among Mages, Coeur has distinguished herself from them for her magical power. Her magical power can truly be measured in the way she so intricately creates mass amounts of fluid with ease in elaborate shapes and designs. Although not a significant part of her history, when measured against an Magic Power Finder (魔力測定器(マジックパワーファインダー) Majikku Pāwā Faindā) she was able to score around 3275 points, being quite high for the wielder of such a common magic. Coeur is able to manifest an intimidating Magical Aura (魔力の霊気, Maryoku no Reiki), a deep pink in color, that she typically uses for the sake of intimidating her opponents. Her Magical Aura is rarely seen however, as she doesn't fight often.

Astounding Magical Aptitude: Unlike many other children, Coeur was able to master Water Magic and Water-Make within only a few months, and was able to develop her own unique technique within a few years. This Magical Aptitude was enough to astound the likes of Arche and Daskyrios, two extremely proficient mages who have been surrounded by magic for years. It is known that, despite not being featured prominently in her backstory, she was also able to become proficient in Ice Magic quite easily. This astounding magical aptitude makes her an easy student, but also has contributed greatly to her inability in teaching others effectively.

Gelatin[]

Coeur Gelatin

Coeur's body becoming gelatin with ease.

Gelatin (ゼラチンZerachin) is Coeur's distinct and unique ability to manipulate and create water in the form of a gelatinous substance at will. It marries the concepts of Water Magic (水の魔法, Sui no Mahō) and Water-Make (水の造形魔法, Sui no Zōkei Mahō), and is based around the ideas of perfecting both kinds of Magic in the hopes of creating a unique visual effect. As Coeur developed this particular technique and grew into mastering it, she realized that despite focusing on aesthetics this magic held a lot of potential in battle. That being said her particular technique is well known across Earth Land for being both extremely beautiful and extremely dangerous. One of her most common techniques is that of Phase Shifting (相転移, Sōteni), in which she is able to change either her entire body or just parts of it into a gelatinous substance at will, and she views this as one of the pillars of her strength. Another of the pillars of her strength is being able to use one of the common techniques in Water Magic, being Collect (集める, Atsumeru) and being able to directly transform that water into gelatin with ease.

Coeur's knowledge of Water Magic and Water-Make is independent of her use of Gelatin, and she is a proficient mage in both techniques, however finds using them outside of a gelatinous form is not very interesting to her, and really goes against her Guild's primary belief in magic artistry. Her proficiency in both Magics, although rarely seen, is noted as being masterful by those who have seen her cast spells at a regular liquid consistency. It can also be inferred by most that her skills in both kinds of magic are extremely proficient, as she was able to master what was necessary in using both to master changing the consistency to the form of Gelatin.

Coeur often says that she has two particular styles of Gelatin, Firm Gelatin (強気ゼラチン Tsuyoki Zerachin) which has a somewhat rubbery consistency and Soft Gelatin (柔軟ゼラチン Juunan Zerachin), which is much more malleable also including the forms she uses that are closest to water. It is presumed that the creation of Firm Gelatin has something to do with her mastery of Ice Magic, as she is able to cool down the temperature of the particular consistency of water as to make it capable of rebounding projectiles. More often than not Firm Gelatin is what Coeur uses for building structures or for defending herself as it's more structured form is much easier for her to work with. An example of something she would more likely use Firm Gelatin for is architecture, or defensive spells like barriers. Soft Gelatin on the other hand, is extremely easy for her to use and is much easier to work with in terms of creating more elaborate spells, bearing the closer resemblance to regular forms of Water Magic and Water-Make. Soft Gelatin by nature is the magic she uses in attacking or for forming elaborate liquid statues before freezing them into a solid.

That being said there's a plethora of particular spells that Coeur knows, including the following:

  • Gelatin Body: Coeur's most commonly used spell, it allows her to transform her physical body into an entire mass of Gelatin, rendering almost all physical attacks totally useless. She is able to easily change the consistency of the liquid that makes up her body, quickly being able to transform parts of it into Soft, Firm or Frozen Gelatin. This ability is extremely useful, and it is often the way she moves around as it allows her to move quickly while nullifying almost all damage.
    • Sweet Revenge: In firming parts of her body she is able to rebound blunt damage with the force of her Firm Gelatin. This is often useful when fighting enemies that work mostly with projectile weapons. This power is particularly strong, as Coeur has been shown able to rebound cannon balls.
    • Gelatin Body, Vulture Harpy: Transforming her arms into wings made out of Gelatin, Coeur is able to then simulate flight. The wings are big enough that in the mechanics used to move the Gelatin creates enough force to move her into the sky and keep her afloat. Although this spell is often more tiring than Gelatin Body levitating herself into the sky, it is used more or less for the aesthetic of being able to fly.
    • Gelatin Body, Feast Mermaid: By turning her legs into a gelatin tail and creating a globe of Gelatin around her head, Coeur is able to function underwater similarly to that of a mermaid. She is able to dive underwater for extended periods of time, and moves much faster than the average Mage in water due to this spell.
    • Gelatin Body, Candy Canes: In transforming her arms into soft gelatin, she can extend them at will and wield the tendrils of long, pink fluid like whips. This is useful in dealing damage from a moderate distance. She has been shown able to wrap these tendrils around weapons without suffering any damage to her physical body.
  • Firm Gelatin, Wall: By throwing her hands down in front of her Coeur is able to summon forth an extremely thick block of gelatin in the shape of an extremely detailed wall. There appears to be carvings along the sides and the top, a tiny statue at the top. This is able to repel attacks and absorb attacks from one side, and is quite easy for her to cast.
    • Firm Gelatin, Fortress: An advanced from of Firm Gelatin, Wall, Coeur instead coats her hands with a mass of Gelatin and swipes up towards the sky, summoning a large circular barricade around her and her allies within her immediate area. This is particularly useful in giving her and her allies time to regroup. Although less detailed than it's primary version, it is a great way to prevent from large groups of enemies. The one weakness to this spell is that it leaves the entire top open to aerial attacks, making it quite easy for more experienced mages to hop over.
    • Limitless Gelatin, Gluttony's Stronghold: The most advanced version of this spell, created with the help of the opening of Coeur's Second Origin, by turning her body into Gelatin and thrusting her right arm into the air she summons forth a large building of sorts, somewhat reminiscent of a castle. This spell is diverse as she is able to modify it to certain environments, and has been shown able to cast this spell for hours at a time. The outside appearance of the castle is intricate, with particular details in architecture all mapped out and planned. The color of the Gelatin is a deep, deep black, making it impossible to see inside. She is able to make this castle with varying dimensions and in varying spaces, making it easy for her to create some place to stay while travelling, or to defend her allies and bewilder her opponents on the battlefield. Most often it takes several hits from extremely experienced mages to knockdown the gelatin castle.
  • Firm Gelatin, Armor: By surrounding her body in Gelatin Coeur is able to create a "shock absorber" of sorts, often casting this when falling from high places or being sent flying into harder objects, as it reduce the damage she takes upon impact. The armor itself is extremely detailed in the way parts of it bevel, and perfectly fits to her body. Coeur can cast this spell on others, but the armor often does not fit as well as she is so accustomed to casting it on herself.
    • Firm Gelatin, Famine's Gauntlets: Coeur coats her arms in Gelatin before clapping her hands together, summoning forth two giant gauntlets that seemingly hover off of her body. Despite their sheer size, Coeur is able to manipulate them at will, often using them to deal major blunt force trauma to her targets.
  • Firm Gelatin, Swallow: By summoning forth gelatin on her hands and touching an opponent Coeur is able to "swallow" an enemy up into a block of Gelatin. Often times she uses this to encase an enemy whole, but she has been shown to be able to use this to bind various parts of a target's body upon contact, able to solely bind the heads, arms, and legs if she so desires.
    • Limitless Gelatin, Swallow, Sea of Jelly: Transforming into Gelatin and leaping high above her enemies Coeur thrusts her hands downwards, creating a sea of soft Gelatin. It "swallows" multiple targets at once, causing the targets to all become trapped in an enormous block of Gelatin. This magic is effective in taking out minor opponents all very quickly, and is often how Coeur takes care of subjugating swarms of monsters.
  • Firm Gelatin, Sugar Cookies: By summoning forth Gelatin in the form of white circles, somewhat resembling rabbits, Coeur can rain down a barrage of blunt damage upon a target. They are projectile based, and although seen as not dealing a lot of damage the "sugar cookies" leave Gelatin across the battle field, making it easy for Coeur to either manipulate certain parts of the battle field through the puddles or just making it harder for enemies to travel freely.
  • Soft Gelatin, Beam: Holding her hand out in front of her with her index finger pointed, Coeur is able to summon forth solid beams of Gelatin that fly towards her opponents. The velocity they move at seems to be quite high, as when caught by the pillar enemies are sent flying into walls hard enough to cause breakage in the walls behind them. The pillar often varies in detail, color and design, and therefore is one of her more creative spells.
    • Soft Gelatin, Hungry Dragon: Thrusting both hands forth with open palms, an extremely large torrent of gelatin in the form of a dragon is sent flying at her opponents. Unlike it's early counterpart, Beam, it carries some of the properties of Swallow, absorbing enemies into the Gelatin until it crashes into a wall.
  • Limitless Gelatin, Goddess of Hunger's Divine Judgement: The spell Coeur views as her most powerful, Limitless Gelatin, Goddess of Hunger's Divine Judgement involves the use of a variety of spells before it. She first casts Gelatin Body, Vulture Harpy, positioning herself high in the sky above enemies, before casting Firm Gelatin, Sugar Cookies. Manipulating the puddles across the field, Coeur gives herself the tactical advantage of being able to see where and what to manipulate. She transforms the puddles into an array of different human body parts, be they arms, legs, faces or facial features, and targets the enemies in using them. Once all of her enemies are in one place, she gathers the pieces of Gelatin up into a statuesque giantess, who then proceeds to attack the enemies in a giant wave before falling apart.

Ice Magic[]

Coeur Gelatin Sword

Coeur using Frozen Gelatin, Sabre of the Sweettoothed Knight.

Ice Magic (氷の魔法, Kōri no Mahō) is a Magic that is based around manipulating and creating the element of ice. This is more of a secondary ability when used in it's Caster-form by Coeur, as she uses it to reinforce her Gelatin-based attacks. In using Ice Magic she is able to create a third form of Gelatin, being Frozen Gelatin. This third form of Gelatin is deadlier than the other kinds, applying a sharp frozen layer over her generally soft or blunt liquid, and can be used to inflict cutting damage on her targets. Her knowledge of Ice Magic bears a similar appearance to Ice-Make, however unlike Ice-Make the only abilities Coeur has displayed in terms of being proficient in Ice Magic is having the ability to coat targets in ice. In being able to cover her variety of Gelatin creations in varying thicknesses of ice, Coeur has access to another deadly ability that is able to dispatch enemies rather easily.

Although she is seen using this magic mostly in tandem with Gelatin, she is able to use it outside of pairing it with Water Magic, and does so more frequently. Ice Magic works extremely well in helping her create sculptures and offers her another level of artistic freedom. Besides being able to offer her Gelatin another form, she finds Ice Magic quite beautiful, and believes that it really boosts her potential to a level, otherwise, she wouldn't be at.

Some of the Frozen Gelatin techniques that Coeur uses include:

  • Frozen Gelatin, Sabre of the Sweettoothed Knight: By transforming her arm into a large spike and freezing it, Coeur is able to wield the point like a sword. This spike is often optimized for puncturing, however she can modify the spell to have sharp sides, making it capable of cutting and slashing. It is a versatile spell and its often the one that Coeur uses in close quarters.
    • Frozen Gelatin, Jelly Filling: More a technique than a different spell, by puncturing a target Coeur is able to fill it with Gelatin until it explodes. Coeur refuses to use this attack on enemies, as it's a horrible thing to do to another person almost guaranteeing their death, but she uses it often on things that are stuck in her way, or on the ground to cause it to bulge and bubble, setting up Gelatin-based traps for her enemies.
  • Limitless Gelatin, Deep Woods of Candy Land: Similarly to casting Limitless Gelatin, Swallow, Sea of Jelly, Coeur first transforms her body into Gelatin and shoots herself up above her opponents. She thrusts her hands downwards and conjures forth liquid gelatin, however unlike Swallow she doesn't use this to trap opponents. She then molds the Gelatin into a variety of trees with extremely sharp edges, and coats the battlefield in ice. This makes it extremely dangerous for all people who are still on the battlefield, as losing their footing could mean a grievous and potentially fatal wound.

Abilities[]

Artistic Prodigy[]

As an artist, Coeur has grown over the period of over two decades. This is evident in her diverse and distinguished body of work. Coeur has an extreme understanding of art history and artistic theory, as instructed to her by her grandmother Arche. Arche has taught Coeur all that was necessary to go out into the world and become a successful artist. That being said, Coeur was able to put this knowledge to good use as a well received artist across all of Earth Land. Her works have been received across all of Earth Land, and she has become a well known and well respected celebrity for her amazing work.

This knowledge allows her to critique the work of others with an extremely valid opinion. Others respect her viewpoint, and think that as an artist she has something to offer that has never been seen before in Earth Land. The members of her Guild all respect her database of artistic knowledge, and often look to her for advice or instruction where necessary. She is knowledgeable in almost all fields of the arts, despite primarily focusing on visual and performance arts. Her knowledge in the performing arts extends beyond her knowledge of how to cast magic in creative ways, and she is extremely knowledgeable in the fields of dance, singing and acting. Her ability to write is lesser known, however she does have a tendency to write prose whenever she is bored.

Assorted Abilities[]

Above Average Physical Abilities: All around, in terms of strength, agility, endurance and durability, Coeur could be perceived at an above average skill level. Although she doesn't often have to display these abilities, as she spends her time focusing on the arts, she is able to hold her own in most fights.

Proficient in Hand-to-Hand Combat: Much liked her physical abilities, Coeur doesn't need to display her particular proficiency in hand-to-hand combat. For the most part she is able to deal a variety of blows to her opponent, blocking strikes where she can. Many other mages find it easy to overpower her when she doesn't have access to her magic, but when coordinating her abilities with her magic she becomes a force of nature.

Keen Intellect: Coeur is known for being knowledgeable on a variety of topics. As she has traveled the world she is well versed in a variety of topics and knows a plethora of facts many would deem useless. Despite that, this knowledge base is extremely important to Coeur, and has contributed to the development of an extremely intricate thought process, almost always putting her one step ahead of others. That being said, it is hard to catch Coeur off guard, and if someone does they often can only accomplish it once. Her intellect branches out into creative intellect as well, and she is seen as one of the more creative voices of the current generation of Mages in Earth Land.

Emotionally Infallible: As she is extremely good at keeping her emotions hidden and portraying an apathetic persona, Coeur is almost totally invulnerable to any emotional punishment at all. There are very few weak spots when it comes to Coeur emotionally, and trying to cause psychological stress through disheartening illusions is almost impossible.

Equipment[]

Headphone Communication Lacrima Crystal: The set of headphones that Coeur got custom-made, they possess a specific lacrima that allows her to communicate with other lacrima through her headphones. This makes managing things as a guild leader much easier for her when she happens to be out of town, and often is the way she manages interviews or sets up arrangements while scouting mages for Muses Manicure. They appear to be a simple black color, with the only notable design feature being the number "66" on both sides of the headphones in yellow, surrounded by a thick circle of crisp white.
