"You survived because you ratted me out. So having you die so I can live...it's just natural. I'll live... for your sake too."
— Charlotte Merquise to Tsuruko Sejren, Daybreak S1, "Infernal Bonds"

Charlotte Merquise (シャーロット・マーキス, Shārotto Mākisu) is a powerful dragon-blooded warrior from near Four—she's feared by numerous factions as The Crimson Comet (紅の彗星, Kurenai no Suisei); a vicious vigilante who targets numerous people, though they don't seem to be connected.

Charlotte was actually from the same orphanage as Tsuruko Sejren, the Chateau des Tiffauges in Four. She and Tsuruko were childhood friends and rivals –in fact, Charlotte was Tsuruko's first ever friend, with Charlotte actually coining Tsuruko's nickname- the thing she normally goes by. The two were inspired by bedtime stories told to them by the "nice lady at the orphanage" about the Phoenix Knight to become superheroes. With this in mind, Tsuruko and Charlotte formed a small group called the Allies of Justice (正義の味方「A・O・J」, Seigi no Mikata), whom went around, destroying what they perceived as oppression and a desire to pull off something big within the city of Four.

Together, they managed to defeat every other gang around and 'conquer' Four. However, the two soon grew apart after they had a squabble over a candy bar; though it was more about Charlotte's growing sadism in regards to dealing out 'justice' as Charlotte's search for satisfaction via beating up those she deemed evil became like an obsession. Even after the group managed to make Four a peaceful place to live once more, Charlotte challenged every remaining group that the Allies of Justice could find, regardless of whether the adversaries were jerks or not. This culminated in Charlotte provoking the Magic Council when they came to Four, severely injuring a member of the Ten Wizard Saints before she was arrested. During this traumatic event, a misunderstanding led Charlotte to believe that Tsuruko betrayed her, when Tsuruko was actually trying to take the fall for her friend.

However, as of now, after she was somehow released from juvenile hall, something seems to have changed her, possibly for the worse...indeed, after Charlotte was arrested by the Magic Council, she was beaten and starved daily, and eventually, she felt like she was going to die and slowly begin to fall into despair. Soon approached an enigmatic existence (謎の存在, Nazo no Sonzai), whom used Charlotte's unfinished grudge against Tsuruko Sejren for supposedly betraying her allowed the figure to get inside of her head and amplify her ambivalence towards her old friend during their meeting with Charlotte, twisting Charlotte's desire to get revenge on Tsuruko for that misinterpretation of what happened into an all-consuming flame of pure fury that made Charlotte almost psychotic and profess a burning need to destroy everything that Tsuruko held dear, and with that, she effectively became the figure's tool, disguising herself in a black cloak and a mask.

While she'd been corrupted by the mysterious figure, she retained skills honed through instinct, including her combat style and her magic, and was thus molded into an assassin as sort of a sick joke by the mysterious figure, whom wanted revenge on the Sejren bloodline for humiliating them in the Old World. As the young woman in the mask (仮面の少女, Kamen no Shōjo), as the narrative refers to her as, she went on to become a menace to the population, with the mysterious figure guiding her towards his goal, performing acts of terrorism and sabotage as to incite a false-flag war that would have both Humans and Hellions wiped out. Charlotte's most notable action was kidnapping Hikari Zanna after Tsuruko set out to find her by Giselle Mercury's request, thus beginning Daybreak and thus the core story of the Sun Trilogy.

When Charlotte initiates her Dragonar Mode through her immense amounts of Ardor, she is capable of assuming the form the Magic Council call Blazer Dragoon (無限光の龍騎(ブレザー・ドラグーン), Burezā Doragūn lit. Dragon Knight of Infinite Light). In this form, she is able to rival Soul Armour Knights and with the ability to manifest unquenchable light manifested from her willpower, she can decimate even the strongest of magicians.

Appearance

Charlotte bears the appearance of a young lady in her early teens, with a slender figure, small bust, and light blue eyes; interestingly, despite Tsuruko and Charlotte being the same age, Tsuruko herself has grown more noticeably in comparison, as Charlotte's awful treatment in prison resulted in her appearing more like a short, malnourished kitten; something that Tsuruko concernedly comments upon once they meet up once more in the Ending Story Part I arc of Daybreak - even the author admits that while yes, Charlotte is perhaps the most personal foe that Tsuruko faces in the Sun Trilogy short of Amadam, it's hard to take her seriously when she's shorter than Tsuruko, who's the third shortest character in the entire trilogy. Charlotte's hair is a dirty blonde, and goes down to her waist in length; tied in a braid by a blue ribbon. Her fringe is kept just above her eyes, and she has three sets of bangs; first going down to her upper-jaw, second, upper-neck, and finally third, chest-length. Charlotte's left arm is entirely mechanical, as it was torn off during her time in prison. While she smiles, Charlotte displays her sharp incisors, a mark of dragonkind.

As the young woman in the mask, Charlotte wears an ornate black-and-gold outfit which is somewhat Egyptian in appearance, resembling that of Egyptian pharaohs and gods, the faceplate in particular, and consists of a menacing mask covering all but the lower jaw bearing a red gem on the forehead, a chestplate, black leggings, gold adornments on the arms and legs with black clothing between, and boots with rounded gold toes. She sports gold and black bands on her hair and massive gold claws on the backs of her hands; she also wears a large cape, a black with red interior. Additionally, she features robotic elements: there are cables running to her arms and within her hair, and her right eye appears to be mechanical, surrounded by an Eye of Horus-like design in red.

Personality and Traits

Originally, Charlotte started as a cheerful and good-hearted person, who looked out for her friends and gave hope to them. She was noted to be kind and compassionate, and when Tsuruko was bullied for defending her father, Charlotte was the one who protected Tsuruko and taught her how to fight. Ever since she was brought into the orphanage, Charlotte had desired to become a "superhero" like her idol, the Phoenix Knight, who inspired her to clean up Four and make it actually capable of supporting people. Charlotte was fairly charismatic, and had a good sense of humour. When excited, she tended to become rather air-headed and forgot about anything else at the moment. Even so, she constantly put her bonds with her friends above all else; though she was a bit arrogant regarding her power.

But after the Allies of Justice conquered the entire city of Four, Charlotte became obsessed with protecting what they worked so hard to obtain, and grew paranoid into believing that any gangs not under her control were a threat to the order they had brought. Even after conquering Four, she challenged every remaining team the Allies of Justice could find, regardless of whether the adversaries were antagonistic or not. This became the reason why Jack and Carmine distanced themselves from her, as they felt that she was going too far—but this didn't stop her, as Charlotte aimed to take down the council and remove its 'oppression' over their city. Because of this overflowing desire to bring 'peace', she became paranoid regarding everyone and constantly kept an eye on people, studying their habits so that she'd be prepared in case they 'betrayed' her. This all culminated in a terrorist attack that ended up with her nearly killing a Wizard Saint and Tsuruko attempting to take the fall for her, though she was still arrested and blamed Tsuruko.

In jail, Charlotte was mistreated badly; as the guards constantly beat her up and intentionally withheld her food rations. Although she claimed that she could survive the abuse, her resistance was slowly weakened; though before she reached a breaking point, a mysterious figure appeared before her, offering her a chance at escape in order to fulfill her heart's innermost desires. Jumping at the chance to get revenge on Tsuruko, Charlotte accepted and broke out by slaughtering every guard and inmate in the jail. As she escaped, Charlotte's obsession with taking down things she saw as 'oppression', her arrogance, and her grudge against Tsuruko reached their worrying peak, as she derived excitement from hurting those whom wronged those lesser than them and her former teammates, becoming the antithesis of everything she originally stood for.

However, later on, it was revealed that Tsuruko's faith in her old friend was not misplaced; as she instinctively protected Tsuruko from a piece of falling debris that was the aftereffect of their battle, and later turned herself in after she came to realization that her hatred for Tsuruko was mistaken.

History

Charlotte Merquise was born to the Dragon of Dragons, the Infinite Light Dragon God Ashur (無限光龍神・アッシュール, Mugenkō Ryūshin Asshūru), who had undergone Compact Regression, and her human husband. While Charlotte's father passed away some time soon after she was born, she and her mother bought a house which her mother converted into a orphanage called the Chateau des Tiffauges. Once there, her mother began to take in several children who had lost their families to war, helping to cope with their loss; though Charlotte was picked on by many of the children there before she began to assert herself, beating down whoever talked crap about her. A few months after her arrival within the orphanage, a certain Tsuruko Sejren was brought in as well—this time, as a favour from her dying father, who Charlotte's mother found dying near the riverbank, cradling a scared Tsuruko who was holding her father's Driver Belt.

As Tsuruko was taken in, Charlotte stood up for her as some older children began to pick on her—the two teamed up to fight them off, with Tsuruko accidentally showing her super strength for the first time by crushing a bully's arm with a grab. After this, the two were placed in detention. During their short hour in detention, Charlotte and Tsuruko became fast friends, with Charlotte giving Tsuruko her nickname, and told her about her idol, "Phoenix Knight", a legendary superhero who saved those in need, inadvertently sparking Tsuruko's interest in superheroes; the two were told countless tales about the Phoenix Knight by the "nice lady at the orphanage" after she heard Charlotte mention her.

Noticing the run-down state of Four; which suffered from extensive urban decay, being mostly utilized as a plant to recycle garbage from other cities, Charlotte decided to become a "superhero" by protecting their home from anyone willing to do harm to it; first, by targeting the various sections of the city that were ruled by gangs. For this, she talked to two other members of the orphanage, Jack Titus and Carmine Fairchild, both of whom were also powerful in their own ways. The four formed the vigilante group known as the Allies of Justice (正義の味方「A・O・J」, Seigi no Mikata), whom went around destroying what they perceived as oppression.

Together, the quartet managed to fight for their ideals, making the slums of Four a better place for all; showing a unique sense of unity, giving the poor a true glimpse of hope under the despairing circumstances of Four; slowly managing to conquer the city. However, during the fight with the final gang, the leader, Ashton Atlas, managed to knock Jack off of a roof, though Charlotte saved him and she and Tsuruko defeated Ashton using a double diving kick; the precursor to Tsuruko's Victorize Kick and Charlotte's own Dragoon Streiser. After conquering the city, Charlotte got into a fight with a small child who supported Ashton's rule over Four, nearly beating them to death, something that prompted Jack and Carmine to go against Charlotte and leave the team.

Later, when the Magic Council began arresting young adults in an attempt to stop the rioting, Charlotte decided to take action into her own hands and blew up a part of the Rune Knight's base in Four, ecstatic that she was going to free the people of her city from their oppression. Back at the orphanage, Tsuruko and Charlotte got into a spat over a candy bar; though it was more about Charlotte's growing sadism in regards to dealing out 'justice'. While Charlotte and Tsuruko were about to make up, Tsuruko was taken in by the Castellone Mafia, though the two managed to promise each other that they'd become superheroes and meet again.

The abandonment felt at the Allies of Justice' dissolution caused Charlotte to become obsessed with ruling Four forever and reuniting her group for their last fight against what Charlotte herself saw as the main body that oppressed their city- the Magic Council. Despite, all three other members of the group were in doubt that they could defeat the Magic Council as they were- however, Charlotte persisted, unlocking her Dragonar Mode in the process and using its immense power to mortally wound one of the Ten Wizard Saints. Before she could finish him off, Tsuruko interfered; managing to shove Charlotte under a busted table; attempting to take the heat by calling herself the leader of their gang in the hopes that they wouldn't arrest her friend.

However, that was all for naught—as she was found and arrested, as of the Rune Knights had already figured out that Charlotte was the leader and Tsuruko tried to convince that she was their leader; Charlotte saw Tsuruko trying to convince the council to let her go, and she mistakenly believed that Tsuruko had her purposely arrested. Furious, Charlotte attempted to fight her, but was held back by the council and was arrested; being thrown in jail. However, some time later, she escaped and began hunting down numerous Rune Knights and her former team members for "abandoning" her.

Synopsis

Equipment

Hysterica

Charlotte summoning the Massacre Harp: Hysterica.

Massacre Harp: Hysterica (殲琴・ヒステリカ, Senkoto Hisuterika): The Massacre Harp: Hysterica is one of the Divine Tools; or rather, it is the rumoured eleventh weapon forged by a third party, making it an unofficial member of the set. Of course, as evidenced by its subtitle, the Hysterica takes the form of a harp which is predominantly purple on the inside and with a golden exterior, both regarding the portions of the harp that hold the string in place. A triad of sapphires are also engraved upon three spikes at the end of the device. While, of course, a harp is definitely not the best weapon to use in close-combat –which Charlotte is all about-, it is mainly utilized as a supplementary device. By strumming the harp, Charlotte is capable of harnessing a power known as Armour Driver Canceller (変鎧無効化(アーマー・ドライバー・キャンセラー), Āmā Doraibā Kyanserā; Transformation Armour Nullifier), which can nullify all abilities of Driver Belts; and by extension, the Soul Armours of the Soul Armour Knights. It was imbued within the Hysterica upon creation, as the creator of the harp wanted to use it to destroy the belts. The harp releases a special frequency that interferes with Soul Metal, disrupting it momentarily- this also results in the synchronization between the knight and the armour to dissipate, cancelling out any Survive Mode as well a de-transforming the enemy in general, deactivating their armours instantly and leaving them in a harmless state for the most part. Because of this, the Hysterica is shown to be one of the most deadly of any countermeasures—as it is the bane to Soul Armour Knights; whom are mostly immune to magic thanks to the Soul Metal which their armours are composed of. Even normally, the harp stings serve a multi-purpose tool for both offensive and defensive situations, as Charlotte can manipulate the strings into a variety of shapes and forms such as webs or even an arm drill to defend, attack or restrict a foe.

Ways of Combat

Hand-to-Hand Combat

Grandmaster Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Charlotte is known to be an extremely powerful martial artist; at least rivaling or surpassing Tsuruko in this regard; in fact, both Charlotte Merquise and Tsuruko Sejren got their start in hand-to-hand combat training under the same person, the Infinite Light Dragon God Ashur, also known as Ashley Briett, Charlotte's mother. As one of Tsuruko's biggest foils and a powerful rival to her, Charlotte's fighting style is much different than Tsuruko's in inspiration, with Charlotte utilizing skill and precision in combat as contrast to Tsuruko's raw power – the martial arts that both use are foils as well, with Charlotte utilizing wushu, which originated in the Eastern regions of the world, whereas Tsuruko utilizes boxing, a fighting style most associated with the West; ironically Charlotte looks more western than Tsuruko, who appears rather Asian. Though Charlotte is more skilled than Tsuruko in martial arts, Charlotte's obsession with getting stronger drove her to only copy martial arts techniques, mimicking fighting styles rather than incorporating them into her own unique style.

Indeed, Charlotte's primary fighting style involves the use of rapid attacks to overwhelm her enemies before they can react, with most of her blows being fast palm strikes; but she does utilize some 'regular' strikes, such as punches and kicks at times. Something to note is that Charlotte fights with a skill and precision based combat, as a foil for Tsuruko's raw power and strength. Befitting her build, her style is a delicate one, rather than using crippling damage, she spins around acrobatically and leaps around, flipping and jumping, utilizing multiple rapid attacks rather than the slow damaging strikes of larger characters, complemented by her high physical ability, with her strength making her blows highly damaging, and her speed allowing her to land them in extremely fast succession. When employed alongside her Dragonar Mode, her unarmed blows become far deadlier. Due to her movement, she has been able to engage in midair confrontations, reaching her foes with a leap and then bombarding them with a barrage of strikes, and she is able to block and even counter-attack assaults from behind without the need to turn her back. Charlotte has indeed been shown to be quite competent and deadly when unarmed; as she generally doesn't like armed combat, she solely focuses on hand-to-hand.

Charlotte has achieved a peak physical conditioning and prowess, granting her immense reserves of stamina. Charlotte's incredible skill in unarmed combat is drastically enhanced by her inherent immense strength, giving her the ability to unleash devastating blows with ease. Tending to mix it up in the heat of battle, Charlotte does not favour either punches or kicks; instead, she uses a liberal application of both, more often than not keeping the opponent guessing each and every time. Interestingly, there is some resemblance between Tsuruko and Charlotte's fighting styles, as both seem to prefer a more offense-based strategy using powerful unarmed strikes while using their special ability (Zero Effect and Dragonscales respectively) to shrug off enemy blows while counterattacking with limbs imbued with a power related to said special ability (once again, Ardor Flame and Photon Dragon Slayer Magic)- indeed, their fighting styles were at least somewhat compatible when they teamed up during their days at teammates.

Charlotte's regular martial art style is something that's said to be an embodiment of the concept of Chinese Martial Arts (中国武術, Chūgoku Bujutsu), a form of martial arts which were born in the East and near-universally seek what's known as oneness with the universe, being a highly variable style of martial arts which possess various forms and styles, even serving as an essential building block for countless other forms of martial arts even if they do not originate in the East as well. While she is majorly knowledgeable in Chinese Martial Arts and knows quite a few different styles which possess various functions and are useful in all sorts of situations, Charlotte more often than not sticks to the tried-and-trusted basics of the entire field, resulting in her possessing a rock-solid foundation for the martial arts and bestowing upon her an advanced learning rate as she is capable of tracing almost any technique that is associated with Chinese Martial Arts back to the bare essentials of the field, breaking down the mechanics and then adapting them for her own usage.

The essentials of the Chinese Martial Arts are said to be basics, forms, applications and weapons; different styles place varying emphasis on each component; philosophy, ethics and even medical practice are woven within this style of combat as well. The basics of Chinese Martial Arts are effectively the meat and bones of the style, with no user of the combat method capable of increasing their power and skill with the art without knowledge of the basics – these basics are composed of rudimentary techniques and conditioning exercises, such as various stances and maneuvers such as stretching, meditating, striking, throwing, and leaping which are repeated over and over in order to strengthen the user's mind and body, allowing their muscles to become flexible over time in order to manage the rest of their body's purpose in the style with no effort at all – as the proverb says, "train both the internal and the external; external training includes the hands, the eyes, the body, stances and steps, and internal training includes the heart, the spirit, the mind, breathing and strength." With this proverb in mind and a constant training regiment, a hopeful user of Chinese Martial Arts will be capable of advancing their skill levels slowly, but surely.

The two classifications of Chinese Martial Arts altogether; the first classification is known as Nèijiāquán (內家拳(ネイジアークアン), Neijiākuan lit. Internal Family Fists), also referred to as soft forms, which focuses upon honing the inner strength of the user in a similar manner to that of cardio-vascular development for the purpose of enhancing the user's defensive capabilities and their stamina in battle, centering on the spirit and the mind of the user, utilizing relaxed leverage instead of muscular tension. On the other hand, its equal and opposite, Wàijiāquán (外家拳(ワイジアークアン), Waijiākuan lit. External Family Fists), also referred to as hard forms, which focus upon the user's outer strength, such as aspects like the toughness and power of muscles and bones in order to enhance the user's offensive power in battle, characterized by fast and explosive movements and a focus on physical strength and agility. Together, both soft and hard forms represent two sides of the same coin – both come from the same source, yet they couldn't be any more different as the former lacks any real killing moves, whereas the latter can slay an enemy in a single blow.

Woven into almost all forms of Chinese Martial Arts is the concept of Qi ((チー), Chī lit. Life Force), which is capable of being defined as bio-electric energy of the body which gives life to everything that possesses it dwelling within, though its definition is highly variable from source to source – the word "qi" can be used as various terms, such as proper skeletal alignment and efficient use of musculature or as a shorthand for concepts that the martial arts student might not yet be ready to understand in full- however, these meanings are not necessarily mutually exclusive. In terms of martial arts, there are a multitude of ideas regarding the control of qi to such an extent that it can be utilized and the target can be affected in a similar manner to that of acupressure. Qi is typically harnessed through the Qigong 気功(チーゴング), Chīgongu lit. Life Force Cultivation) holistic method, which is a practice that involves coordinated breathing, movement, and awareness, serving as a concept which does exactly what the kanji that composes the name of the method says, to cultivate qi, granting the user the capability to achieve a greater realm of awareness and invoke an awakening of the true nature of life, enhancing the user's potential greatly. Not only this, they can utilize the Nèigong (內功(ネイゴング), Neigongu lit. Internal Skill) method, which involves the user coordinating their movements alongside their breathing, harmonizing their energies, both outwards and inwards; whereas the Qigong method works together with the qi in order to achieve its goal, the Nèigong method is much wider than the former and is a process that involves the transformation of the user's inner being, taking the user backwards in evolution before reaching the original state of being.

  • Nèijīng (內勁(ネイジン), Neijingu lit. Internal Force): Nèijīng is a term which refers to the conscious control of the practitioner's qi, or "life energy", to gain all sorts of advantages in combat. When utilizing Nèijīng, Charlotte builds up the essence of her body in order to ensure a plenteous supply of power, which is transmogrified into qi that provides a steady source of vitality to her entire frame, enhancing her musculature, bones, organs, as well her mind, being directed in accordance with her thoughts which are themselves dependant on qi for mental capability; being an expression of thoughts, knowledge, feelings, and focus of her mind; a strong spirit results in clear thoughts and perceptions as well as better intent, which all prove beneficial, with Charlotte's intent starting up the physiological changes that opens up the blood flow alongside the qi flow along the path and at the focal point; the increased blood circulation and qi flow results in her musculature obtaining better tonus and tenacity that serves as the starting point of Nèijīng and bestows it with its immense propulsive and hydraulic forces with her qi being directed mentally alongside her muscles remaining relaxed with zero signs of tension, resulting in the creation of the Nèijīng concept which she can now utilize in any way that she deems suitable. Nèijīng is catalyzed by a variety of factors, such as its roots, coordination, alignment, and focus. For one, in order for power to be properly generated, a base which provides resistance to form a base for it to push up against must be there, and Charlotte is capable of building up the base by lowering her body's center of gravity to augment stability and the flawless transference of force from her center of gravity to the ground, with Charlotte lowering her qi to her center of mass to isolate and distinguish her center of gravity. When striking forth, Charlotte coordinates her various joints and muscles in her body, utilizing her center of mass as a base which is supported by an efficient structure which awakens an path for strength to flow forth, which, in conjunction with the proper alignment bones in her body that provides the structure by which the force is transmitted and provides a clear path for strength to flow from the point of focus to the ground. All three characteristics brought together awakens the final step – focus, with her mind denoting a point where all of her body's potential is directed at and also to the task to be accomplished by the resultant force. This allows Charlotte to harness her qi in order to drastically increase her offensive and defensive power to inhuman levels; generally, the inner qi energy produced by her attacks depends on how much fighting spirit she utilizes in combat, being directed in accordance to her will as an invisible force. When Charlotte strikes an enemy, through clever application of her qi, she inflicts a variety of status conditions upon her opponent, such as obscured senses, heightened state of paranoia, and the feeling that their nervous system was under almost unendurable strain. While striking forth, Charlotte loosens her entire body to generate all of her qi throughout her body, focusing it into a stream and then directing it through the point of impact upon the body of her opponent, opening up a gateway for qi to be unleashed upon her helpless foe.
Piguàquán and Bājíquán

Typically, Charlotte utilizes Piguàquán (劈掛拳(ピグアクアン), Piguakuan lit. Chop-Hanging Fist), a form of martial arts which is focused around the use of palm strikes and explosive, long-range power as well as Bājíquán (八極拳(バジクアン), Bajikuan, lit. Eight Extremities Fist), a form of martial arts which is known for its explosive, short-range power and is famous for its elbow and shoulder strikes – originally, the two martial arts were conceived as a single fighting style, and it is said that Wu Zhong, the oldest traceable master in the baji lineage, taught both arts together as an integrated fighting system. They eventually split apart, only to be recombined by the famous Li Shuwen in the late 18th to early 19th century – when combined, Piguàquán and Bājíquán are the focus of a Chinese proverb, "When pigua is added to baji, gods and demons will all be terrified. When baji is added to pigua, heroes will sigh knowing they are no match against it." As such, when recombined by Charlotte in this form, their natural synergy makes itself apparent, being utilized in unison with each other in order to enhance her attacks.

On one hand, Bājíquán is an ultimate technique born from the miraculous fusion of the normal Bājíquán and her own power; but more than that, it is a merger between the normal explosive power of regular Bājíquán and a special form of sealing magic by targeting the Magic Pathways in the opponent's body and thus the organs in close proximity to the affected area. The six ways of attacking the opponent with Bājíquán are referred to as the Liu-Da-Kai (六大開(リューダカイ), Ryūdakai lit. The Six Grand Openings), focusing elbow strikes, punches with the arm and fist to push upwards and forwards, hip checks, putting their arms together as if they're hugging somebody, followed by splitting the arms, and elevating their knees to strike the thighs of their enemy, elevating their foot to smash their shins and the like, and shoulder strikes- these are all executed with short yet efficient motions, being impossibly fast to the point that only the best of martial artists can keep up with the fighter's motions; entering from a long range with a distinctive charging step. Most of Bājíquán's moves utilize a one-hit push-strike method from very close range; the bulk of the damage is dealt through the momentary acceleration that travels up from the waist to the limb and further magnified by a charging step. It is a style that takes the shortest route without any initial movement to damage the inside instead of the outside; Charlotte's knowledge of this fighting style makes her a "sacred spear" capable of defeating a normal person with a single, piercing strike.

Indeed, the level of Charlotte's training has resulted in her body transforming into a weapon when utilizing this martial art; as everything about her movements in the fields of battle attributes to releasing an instantaneous burst of power into her fists. The stance of Bājíquán, known as, well, the originally named, "Moving Stance" (移動の構え, Idō no Kamae) enables Charlotte to advance towards the enemy by sneaking with a sight step, and without a second wasted, Charlotte can shorten the distance between herself and her opponent, swinging her fist mere millimeters away from the enemy, with the sheer kinetic force delivered forwards in motion being released and channeling the full force of her body into a single strike, capable of dislocating an enemy's limb through sheer air pressure. Indeed, she can predict the opponent's next move purely on the brief moment when her arm blocks that of her opponent, meaning that having a blind spot or having an enemy too fast for the human eye to see is not a problem. While attacking with her Bājíquán, alongside the kinetic force produced, Charlotte additionally subtly covers her hands with her magical energies, her palms never really displaying much indication of her having done the deed other than small azurite sparks of eternano scattering off of them at random intervals – but upon contact, Charlotte transfers these supernatural energies into the opponent's body via the "Internal Energy Release" (発勁, Hakkei) method, causing the opponent to be struck by an attack that lands from within and thus is unavoidable, with the magical energies making contact with the opponent's Magic Pathways and surrounding organs.

Meanwhile, Piguàquán is activated by Charlotte assuming a multitude of particular fighting stances, such as bending her knees and diagonally stretching her arms upwards, allowing her to assault foes with great force and accuracy with whipping motions from her heavy hands which are augmented by using all of the body's mass. The majority of the power of Piguàquán is derived from the forward surging kinetic forces produced by Charlotte's arms as they accelerate forth while rotating – she allows the laws of the world, such as gravity and momentum lead her hands forwards, keeping her arms relaxed while striking as to give her the feeling of being light as a feather whereas her hands are as heavy as steel. As a martial art, Piguàquán's main purpose is that of unbalancing, throwing the opponent off-guard and open to attacks through strikes, locks, grappling, throws, and takedowns – however, striking is more often not the best "weapon" in Charlotte's arsenal. The strikes of Piguàquán are known to be extremely variable and capable of being adapted to almost any situation imaginable.

Indeed, Charlotte has displayed that she is capable of lashing out at her opponent with her fists in any gesture, any side of her palms and forearms, portions of her arm, shoulders, knees, legs, feet, and other portions of her body, but most prominently her sides – however, tying into the martial art's secondary name of "Chop-Hanging Palm", more often than not, the strike is just unleashed in the form of a vicious palm thrust, whereas leg-involving attacks are almost unheard of, as they serve as Charlotte's main method of darting about in combat. Interestingly, if her palm strike misses by any chance, she is capable of extending the attack into a throw and thus hit and launch the enemy away simultaneously through her following her own momentum to the utmost limit. Typically, with this art, Charlotte aims at the skull of her opponent and any areas which surround it, though it's obvious that she is capable of striking any part of the enemy's body in order to produce a similar result, striking at the enemy even when she is in an unfavourable position where any attack from a user of another martial art would be futile. Using this art, her movements flow like a smooth river with wide and long stances that seek to expand beyond the confined space of her body, making her appear like the vastness of the width of the river, nimble footwork and an emphasis on timing and speed that serves as the rapid form that the water takes upon, guiding her fists and/or palms towards the opponent to deal a critical hit that can utterly floor them near-instantly.

Charlotte generally aims for the enemy's pressure points with her martial arts at astounding speeds before the opponent can properly react, causing the magic channels in the enemy's body to short-circuit and give out leaving them unable to perform any form of magical manipulation, stopping the flow of eternano within their body, reducing their muscular strength, and disables their ability to cast magic temporarily; this is known to be particularly devastating for people who rely solely on their magic to fight- even the most armoured of enemies are not spared from the effects of Charlotte's fighting style- this is a maneuver derived from Bāguàzhǎng, the so-called "eight trigrams palm". The disabling of the magic channels in the enemy's body results in them feeling a sharp, cutting sensation while their physical strength diminishes, leaving them extremely vulnerable to Charlotte's strikes. Charlotte has ability to be able to control the damage done by such means, and additionally, attacking the foe in certain spots results in the loss of movement in that part of their body, as they lose voluntary muscular function within a region localized around the attack, essentially becoming paralyzed. When she wishes to make sure that the opponent won't be a threat again, she directly targets pressure points in the bodies associated with magic casting, and, by attacking the bodies internally, and by using her supreme magical manipulation as a basis for some form of internal attack, Charlotte causes near irreversible damage to the pressure points associated primarily with magic arts, blocking any user from their magic, permanently.

Since the former martial art covers long-range power and the latter focuses on short-range power, the combination of both grants Charlotte an almost constant dominance and control over the factor of range in the heat of battle, striking from close and from afar while putting a tremendous pressure upon the opponent while being able to inflict tremendous damage from any range that she finds to be suitable. However, in order to masterfully weave these two martial arts together and utilize them proficiently near-constantly in combat would be exhausting for anyone else without proper physical and mental training – but Charlotte herself, thanks to her incredible thresholds of both is able to manage just fine, partly due her extensive knowledge of the bodily mechanics of both herself and her adversary, and partly because of her half-dragon heritage – the combined might of both the Chop-Hanging and the Eight Extremities results in Charlotte possessing a power that renders the need for a second strike completely unnecessary.

Physical Prowess

Immense Physical Strength: In stark contrast with her slim and childlike figure, Charlotte possesses positively enormous amounts of physical strength, having been repeatedly shown capable of lifting and dragging around objects many times her own size.

Immense Speed: Charlotte has shown to be immensely fast, befitting her small size and waifish build. Her tremendous raw power, allows her to move fast enough to instantly close a huge gap of space between her and the opponent and even seemingly disappear from sight in the span of a millisecond.

Diamond-esque Durability: Charlotte has demonstrated extreme durability, being sent crashing through a wall and landing without a flinch or a minor injury, suffering no damage at all from some of Tsuruko's non-Soul Armour-equipped blows, continuing to fight as if nothing happened, displaying an incredible amount of resilience.

Charlotte Merquise's Dragon Scales as Blazer Dragoon.

Dragon Scale (竜鱗, Ryūuroku): Dragon Scales are a natural part of a dragon's biology; they can be said to be a "defensive shell that surrounds the flesh underneath"; it is a natural strength that all dragonkind possesses and a major reason why many of them are considered nigh-unkillable- there are eighty-one scales in total on a dragon's body. It is touted as a "supreme defense", however, it is born from the effects of their scales when charged with magical power. It is activated by the dragon projecting the pressure of their innate magical power outwards, applying a thin layer of pressure onto their scales, the power of their magic is expelled through the thin layer, generating a personal force field around their bodies, extending to about one foot in diameter from their body- this ability is near constantly active. A dragon can use their scales for many purposes, such as preventing physical contact, keeping debris and unwanted materials off of their body, erecting their force field to escape piles of debris easier, and a few other purposes as well. The scales are also particularly resistant to foreign materials in the first place, as they would slide off much faster and more smoothly then it would from the dragon's body alone, due to the fact that they are dragon scales charged with magical power- this allows the dragon to resist magical attacks better than other races due to their natural toughness. Because of their scales, each dragon possesses incredible magical resistance, casually shrugging off all sorts of high-tier spells even from those who have dedicated their lives to mastering the art of the arcane; though a dragon also receives double the damage from powers that specifically target dragons; such as Dragon Slayers and anti-dragon weaponry such as Balmung.

Other

Incredible Willpower: Charlotte Merquise is noted to possess particularly impressive amounts of willpower, as even though she does not possess a connection to the Old World and the beings and creations that spawned from it, she was still capable of unlocking her fighting spirit- however, it can also be speculated that Charlotte unlocked her fighting spirit simply by being around Tsuruko, whom possesses truly outstanding amounts of Ardor even when she was younger and had not much interest in fighting. While at first Charlotte's large Ardor gain stemmed from her desire to protect what little she had, after what she perceived as Tsuruko betraying her, the power source began to be fuelled by grim determination to revenge before finding out the truth of the matter and she gained a new source of Ardor gain; making up for her mistakes. While Ardor gain is rarely, if ever quantified, it would not be an inaccurate estimate that Charlotte's Ardor levels are approximately slightly below Tsuruko's own and on the same scope as Kirika Hotsuin's, coincidentally another character who can make the claim of having the dubious honour of being Tsuruko's rival. Charlotte is an anomaly in that despite not having any special skill or ability that would perfectly synchronize with her fighting spirit, she is capable of using her large Ardor gain to activate her Dragonar Mode whereas previously it would require enormous amounts of magical energy to transform, and she can maintain her transformation into the azure dragonoid warrior through sheer willpower for hours at a time. During her own side-story, while Charlotte first activated Dragoascension due to being submerged in the ley lines, later appearances show her simply willing her Blazer Dragoon form to transform into Blazer Dragoon Victory without requiring a connection to the dragon's veins underground. Charlotte's amazing willpower also allows her to keep fighting far beyond where anyone else's body would give up, surviving life-threatening injuries and keep fighting as if nothing had happened, and both she and Tsuruko shrugged off blows that have previously been shown to defeat other opponents in a single hit in their battle, with Charlotte in particular taking countless strikes, three Limit Breaks in rapid succession, and a Face Open-enhanced Victorize Kick Version 5 before she finally lost to Tsuruko. By using her Fighting Spirit Transference technique, Charlotte can course her burning spirit through almost any medium, allowing her to reinforce anything or blast it to pieces in the blink of an eye, and she can utilize the Ardor Full Cowl technique to shroud her frame in fighting spirit, granting herself a large boost in physical parameters. Interestingly, as perhaps the only person to use Ardor in conjunction with magical energy, she can change power sources for her Photon Dragon Slayer Magic by fuelling them with her fighting spirit if there is no magical energy left. Charlotte's Ardor Aura colour is blue.

  • Fighting Spirit Transference (闘魂移動, Tōkon Idō): Fighting Spirit Transference is a special ability that Charlotte Merquise first displays against Tsuruko Sejren in Daybreak S1's penultimate arc; it is a technique which enables the user to transmit their fighting spirit through a medium in order to shift the point and force of impact wherever they deem it suitable. Fighting Spirit Transference is a technique which cannot be considered a magical spell nor an unassisted regular ability, but rather, an application of Ardor, a metaphysical concept that is not magical in origin or a supernatural energy per-se, but is actually the user's determination and resolve made manifest; granting them capabilities beyond normal and a "power" conveyed by positive reinforcement—that is, by belief, either from the fighter's own self-confidence and unstable emotions, or the power of their loved ones cheering them on, or some other ambient effect. In the case of Fighting Spirit Transference, it can be referred to as a "martial arts strike enhanced with the burning spirit of the brave user"; when performing Fighting Spirit Transference, the user surges their fighting spirit, and instead of letting it scatter off of their body as normal, the user focuses their fighting spirit into their hands, specifically, the entirety of their fingers on one or both hands. When performing such an action, the body parts where the fighting spirit has gathered turns a hot pink and steam begins to course from the pores as their veins stick out. This grants the user's fingers and hands the ability to further transfer the fighting spirit gathered through a suitable medium, ranging from solid objects of various compositions such as wood and metal, liquids like water, and even the air itself. Fighting Spirit Transference is perhaps a skill that varies in how it is used from situation to situation, but it generally functions by having the user transfer their burning spirit now located within their hands and fingers through a fulcrum in order to induce a multitude of effects- for one, against solids, by shooting their fighting spirit through them, a user can either reinforce the object or blast straight through it as if it weren't even there, carrying the fighting spirit through it as to attack an enemy. As an example, this technique can be used to strike an enemy in another room by striking a wall, causing the fighting spirit to transfer through and attack the enemy as if there were no wall between them and the user. By doing so, this can allow the user to strike from afar even without launching a projectile-type attack (or by doing so), but since Fighting Spirit Transference courses through the user's arms and hands, the user can focus their fighting spirit into their fingertips and bones underneath the skin, reinforcing the density of the bones a hundredfold and bolstering the strength and speed of their strikes, while granting Charlotte the ability to burst Soul Metal (and by extension, Soul Armours), burst straight through all forms of elemental bodily transformations, as well as bypass Tsuruko Sejren's Zero Effect and land several clean hits upon her old friend that will land no matter what; however, if Fighting Spirit Transference is used in conjunction with Photonic Chain or any other spell for Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, Tsuruko would Tsuruko can negate the magical powers with her Zero Effect, but she would have to voluntarily do so in this case, whereas any magic that isn't influenced by the enemy's fighting spirit would simply roll off her like raindrops. This even allows the user to counter magic attacks by punching or otherwise striking them.
  • Ardor Full Cowl (勇開放・闘気凱装(アルダー・フル・カウル), Arudā Furu Kauru lit. Bravery Release: Fighting Spirit Triumphant Armour): Ardor Full Cowl is a special ability that Charlotte Merquise first displays against Tsuruko in Daybreak S1's penultimate arc; Ardor Full Cowl allows the user to shroud their entire body in fighting spirit, granting their physical parameters a large boost all across the board. Ardor Full Cowl is a technique which cannot be considered a magical spell nor an unassisted regular ability, but rather, an application of Ardor, a metaphysical concept that is not magical in origin or a supernatural energy per-se, but is actually the user's determination and resolve made manifest; granting them capabilities beyond normal and a "power" conveyed by positive reinforcement—that is, by belief, either from the fighter's own self-confidence and unstable emotions, or the power of their loved ones cheering them on, or some other ambient effect. Ardor Full Cowl is known to be a technique born through years of intense training done by Charlotte, which enabled her to gain control of her spirit and thus manipulate it into the current form. But in any case, Ardor Full Cowl is activated by the user surging their fighting spirit to its utmost limit, resulting in the release of energies of a colour most associated with them to scatter off of their frame, while a faint outline of that same colour manifests around their body- at this point, the user enables their burning spirit to course and flow throughout their body instead of allowing their Ardor to surge upwards like it would when their Ardor Aura is made manifest as an intimidation tactic. This results in the user's fighting spirit wrapping around their body in its entirety, taking the form of a dense shroud of wispy fighting spirit the texture of a colour closely associated with the user which constantly emits bubbles of energy resembling boiling liquid, granting them a relatively large amount of physical protection, and the activation grants the user superhuman strength, agility, and endurance beyond what they would normally have without activating the shroud, meaning that no matter what, the user of the technique receives a sufficient boost in power all across the board. The activation of Ardor Full Cowl also results in the user's bodily structure becoming reinforced by their willpower, as demonstrated when Charlotte's left arm was struck by Tsuruko's Rocket Punch, which can kill an undead dragon in a single hit- Charlotte's arm remained in place and fully functional. The user is capable of manipulating the fighting spirit shrouding their body to a certain extent as it is malleable, allowing the shroud to extend beyond the user's reach, allowing them to project the shroud outwards in the form of an aura that surrounds the extremity of their choice- this also has the side effect of bolstering the power of the user's strike as the user's fighting spirit and attack are working together as one. The shroud can also function as extra limbs of sorts by grabbing an enemy or interacting with anything in the environment that the user deems fitting, and it generally acts as an extension of their body that cannot be seen by anyone that cannot harness their inner fighting spirit.

Magical Abilities

High Magical Power: As the child of Infinite Light Dragon God Ashur, Charlotte has a fairly respectable amount of magical energy dwelling within her body. While she has a general distaste for magicians, she has acknowledged the power being half-dragon has granted her. Her annoyance at it has led to her gaining natural control over the exertion of her magical power, keeping it contained to the point where it is virtually impossible to detect her by normal means, though the constant effort can be taxing. Magic originates from a Magic Origin (魔原, Magen), which is exactly what the wording indicates—it is a special organ that is located within the body of a magician, that absorbs eternano and bunches it up into clusters, which is processed into magical power. Every Mage has a container inside their body that determines the limits of their Magic Power; this is precisely what a Magic Origin is. If the case becomes empty, eternano will come from the atmosphere and enters the Mage's body and after a while, their Magic Power is restored. A Dragon's Magic Origin is drastically different than any other race's; it is referred to as the Factor of the Dragon (竜の因子, Ryū no Inshi); the dragon's origin produces a unique magical power that transcends what could be achieved by normal humans. Normally, a magician's body could be considered a machine which created magical energy, a Dragon's magic origin acts as a factory which created magical energy. It functions as an enormous magic core with tremendous capacity that generates energy independent from their body simply through breathing. To this extent, when flared up to its greatest extent, Charlotte's magical aura is capable of disrupting all forms of defensive-based magic. In battle, Charlotte is known to unleash powerful wakes of destructive light with each and every one of her blows.

Magic in General

Assorted Magic (魔法, Mahō): Magic is the main form of combat for Mages; it is the physical embodiment of the spirit. When the physical spirit of an organism connects with the spiritual flow of nature, the spirit forms Magic as a product of the connection. To utilize Magic, a magician must use Magic Power (魔力, Maryoku) in their body. Magic Power is the source of Power for all magicians, it is composed of Eternano (魔子(エーテルナノ), Ēterunano lit. Magic Particles), which is the term coined to name particles of Magic. Eternano dwells inside all living organisms and throughout the atmosphere. Nobody knows when Magic began, or how Eternano originated. Eternano is the source of Magic Power for all magicians; and every magician has a container inside their body that determines the limits of their Magic Power. If the case becomes empty, Eternano will come from the atmosphere and enters the magician's body and after a while, their Magic Power is restored. Eternano has near-zero rest mass - though, like any particle, its mass increases to reflect its potential or kinetic energy - and can carry either a positive or negative charge. In order to cast spells, a magician derives the power necessary from two sources: their own body's Magic Origin (魔原, Magen), and the atmosphere. A Magic Origin is exactly what the wording indicates—it is a special organ that is located within the body of a magician, that absorbs eternano and bunches it up into clusters, which is processed into magical power.

Every magician has a container inside their body that determines the limits of their Magic Power; this is precisely what a Magic Origin is. If the case becomes empty, eternano will come from the atmosphere and enters the magician's body and after a while, their Magic Power is restored. It appears that the concept of using a proportion to the user's Magic Origin or the atmosphere is dependent entirely upon the magic used in question. With internal magic such as High Speed, one requires the use of their own magic far more than external magic such as Fire Magic, where they generally rely more on atmospherically magic. By collecting eternano and subsequently imbuing it with a certain 'command' through either an incantation, hand gesture or a simple spell name, allow it to then mysteriously take upon a characteristic unique to that spell. Interestingly, some magicians, if they are descended from unique families, have shown that they are capable of replenishing their eternano faster thanks to unique traits. However, recent studies have identified another, unused, part of a magician's magic container that contains a large amount of dormant power: the Second Origin. If a magician somehow manages to unlock their Second Origin, they will then receive an enormous boost in Magic Power, or they can wait until the right moment to unleash the Magic Power of their Second Origin in order to gain an advantage in the battle.

Through a unique process referred to as Memory Combustion (記憶燃焼, Kioku Nenshō), Charlotte is capable of massively amplifying the power, speed, and area-of-effect of her photonic powers while reducing the casting time down to a split second. When inducing Memory Combustion, Charlotte, instead of forming a Magic Seal and altering the elemental particles in the atmosphere in order to cast her Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, uses her memories as fuel- this is done by overloading her Magic Origin's connection to the brain temporarily, strengthening the connection between the Magic Pathways in the brain and the regular Magic Origin while cutting off the Magic Origin's link with the Magic Pathways in her other limbs for a split second while she commands a spell to be cast- as the organ which generates and distributes magical energies cannot absorb eternano from the environment, it instead converts Charlotte's memories into magical energy of a highest quality to fuel photonic spells, rituals and techniques similar to how Soul Metal can be used to generate Ardor Gain. At this point, the connections to the magical pathways in Charlotte's body reestablish themselves, allowing her to cast a significantly more powerful version of her regular spells. However, with every usage of Memory Combustion, Charlotte suffers minor brain damage due to the loss of memory- while it would normally be not too bad, the memories lost add up rather quickly, and thus, she must exercise caution when performing this method of activation.

Photon Dragon Slayer Magic

Photon Dragon Slayer Magic (光子の滅竜魔法, Kōshi no Metsuryū Mahō) is a Caster Magic, Lost Magic, Slayer Magic, and lastly as well as most obviously, a Dragon Slayer Magic which is focused upon the transformation of the physiology of the caster's body into a dragon, which are extremely powerful and flight-capable legendary creatures that are a strange mixture between serpentine, reptilian and avian traits that live in Earth Land; resulting in Photon Dragon Slayer Magic revolving around the generation, manipulation, and consumption of the element of photons, which, in physics, are an elementary particle, the quantum of light and all other forms of electromagnetic radiation, and the force carrier for the electromagnetic force as well as light, which is electromagnetic radiation within a certain portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, specifically that of visible light, the electromagnetic radiation that is visible to the human eye, and is responsible for the sense of sight in general. It can be considered the primeval version of an existence such as White Dragon Slayer Magic, Light Dragon Slayer Magic, and many more, being the precursor to all light-based Dragon Slayer Magics, remaining unsurpassed throughout the ages.

Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is touted as the very first form of Dragon Slayer Magic in the Sun Trilogy timeline, being developed by the Dragon of Dragons soon after Magic came into being on Earth Land through the opposing emotions from the Old World contacting the dormant Ley lines, resulting in an enormous surge of magical energy that washed over the world that induced a rapid evolution of the animal kingdom, blending their Deoxyribonucleic acids with that of the despair energy created by the Hellions to mutate their existences into dragonkind, with the strongest of the lot developing this magic quickly, before she instructed others of her kind to do the same, leading to the boon of Dragon Slayer Magic in the present time. It's said that Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is a one-of-a-kind magic in that it is capable of harming Hellions and wielders of Soul Armours as well as pierce through the alloys of Reionyx and by extension the alloys that compose Deus Machina even without the assistance of fighting spirit because Photon Dragon Slayer Magic was developed so quickly after the advent of magic and the mutation that created the dragons, incidentally making it the most powerful type of magic around. Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is utilized by Infinite Light Dragon God Ashur and Charlotte Merquise. Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is also the only Dragon Slayer Magic to show up in Daybreak, appearing in the final arc along with Charlotte.

As briefly mentioned above, Dragon Slayer Magic is a Caster Magic, Lost Magic, and last but not least, a Slayer Magic that allows its users to transform the physiology of their body into those of a dragon, a species of legendary creatures whom are oftentimes regarded as the strongest of all monsters with immeasurable power and intelligence dwelling within their bodies – dragons can be said to be less of an organic creature themselves but rather, an embodiment of the greatest power of all, and as such, these beings are revered and feared by all whom are knowledgeable of their existence, the mere mention of them causing shockwaves that radiate throughout the lands, magicians of all ranks and walks of life quivering at their name. More importantly, as "ultimate power made physical", they would need an "ultimate magic" to suit their very nature as power manifested in the mortal plane of existence; something that would be far above most magicians in the era that they made their mark on mankind. They could be thought of as "Elemental Magic made manifest and brought to its absolute zenith", though while a personification of the strongest power imaginable; the chains known as a "mortal body" that bind them to the dimension referred as Earth Land do not hinder their performance in battle in the slightest – in fact, their mortality and physical form allow them to utilize their unique Magic Origin which is referred to as the Factor of the Dragon (竜の因子, Ryū no Inshi); indeed, the dragon's origin produces a unique magical power that transcends what could be achieved by normal humans. Normally, a magician's body could be considered a machine which created magical energy, a Dragon's magic origin acts as living power plant which created magical energy, serving the purpose of an enormous magic core with tremendous capacity that generates all sorts of elemental energy that's independent from their body through the simple act of breathing, capable of serving as a power source to power countless appliances – all this works in conjunction alongside the perks that their biology normally gives them; and through application of magical manipulation, grants them the ability to reinforce the sheer power of their own body with their signature element which is assigned to them as birth; generating limitless quantities of their element with an absolute dominance over said element, bestowing upon the wielder of Dragon Slayer Magic fearsome power in the heat of combat. In this case, the dragon who taught the wielder was a Light Dragon, which granted them the ability of light manipulation, Dragon-style; however, in the circumstances of Charlotte Merquise, as she is a hybrid between a human and a dragon, the power of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic comes naturally, leading her to discovering this incredible dwelling within her at an early age even without any input from her mother.

In the case of the Photon Dragon Slayer Magic when used by a dragon, the Infinite Light Dragon God takes blatant advantage of the fact that her mortality and physical form enables her to utilize her unique draconic Magic Origin alongside the perks that her biology normally gives her; her biological structure has been perfectly attuned to how her Factor of the Dragon functions; more specifically, since with every breath, the Infinite Light Dragon God generates energy independent from her body; which, through application of magical manipulation, grants her the ability to reinforce the sheer power of her own body with her signature element. But of course, no matter whom is utilizing this amazing power, when inducing the activation process for Photon Dragon Slayer Magic and thereby performing the signature photon particle manipulation of the magic, the caster utilizes an activation sequence not dissimilar from light-element magics of all kinds such as Light Magic, Light-Make, Light Spirit Slayer Magic, and much less notably due to its user being a loser belonging to a bigger group of losers, White Dragon Slayer Magic. This involves the wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic focusing intently as they release the arcane energies that are dwelling within their Magic Origin outwards into the vicinity, from here inducing the usual fusion of eternano that's ambient within the atmosphere and said arcane energies as they take the concept of magic equaling the feelings of the magician to its absolute zenith – fuelling the fused energies with positive emotions, the wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is capable of initiating the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, resulting in the transmogrification of their arcane powers into photons, which are particles which transmit light that are also an elementary particle that serve as their own antiparticle, and by extension light, a type of energy considered to be a form of electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength which can be detected by the human eye, as light is carried over space by photons; this sequence draws from the inner feelings of the humanity to purify the world off all its evils and mistakes, like a beacon of hope; thus, the energies that are produced by Photon Dragon Slayer Magic are only light and benevolent in nature. Emerging from the soul and Magic Origin of the wielder of this Dragon Slayer Magic is a vast quantity of shining golden light that's accompanied by a brightness with no compare. Of course, depending on the brightness and the heat that the light emits when Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is being cast, it is capable of blinding as well as burning an opponent or causing the surrounding area to explode in a brilliant light, overwhelmed by a magnificent radiance; the release of this light during the activation sequence can also be used for defense.

Despite the boons bestowed upon the user as mentioned in the base description for all forms of this magic, the traits such as dramatically enhanced physical prowess and senses can be said to simply be side-effects of having the physiology of a dragon; indeed, the greatest ability of a wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is also its signature power – calling upon the assets of a dragon even if their bodily structure isn't one-hundred-percent the same as the beings from which this magic originated, the caster is capable of inducing a metamorphosis of their body structure as to take upon traits of a dragon instantaneously which is done in conjunction with the activation sequence of their light, bestowing upon the user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic; draconic lungs and enhanced vocal folds that are capable of spewing photonic energy in the form of laser beams, rigid plates known as scales that grow out of their skin which are laced with photonic energies as to provide protection against light, and fierce claws and nails which are enshrouded with photons, specifically attuned to dealing incredible amounts of damage – all of this combined, results in the physiology of a Dragon Slayer transforming their entire existence into that of a make-shift weapon whose ownership is unique to them and them alone, wielding the element of photons harnessed by their dragon and passed down to them alongside the natural physical superiority of a dragon in combat, utilizing offensive ability, stamina, and vitality, to transmogrify themselves into the greatest weapon of all, thus dramatically increasing the damage inflicted upon anything that they come into contact with using the sheer force of their strikes in all ranges – however, as one may have suspected, close-combat is where Dragon Slayer Magic usually shines thanks to the overwhelming physical might of a dragon, as the magic massively bolsters the power of their unarmed blows with the user unleashing powerful close-range strikes that are empowered with wakes of destructive light which wreak havoc on anything and everything that they come into contact with, whipping up innumerable photonic storms and blasts with every movement taken. Effectively, this grants the user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic the ability to manipulate, modify, consume, and generate from their body photonic energy to their fullest extent; they have absolute dominance over anything considered a "light" and everything related to and dwelling within it.

The primary properties of visible light manifested by Photon Dragon Slayer Magic as well as most other forms of light-based magics are the power transferred per unit area, where the area is an imagined surface that is perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the energy, propagation direction, frequency or wavelength spectrum, and polarisation, while its speed in a vacuum is one of the fundamental constants of nature. Visible light, as with all types of electromagnetic radiation, is experimentally found to always move at this speed in vacuum. In common with all types of electromagnetic radiation, visible light is emitted and absorbed in tiny "packets" called photons, and exhibits properties of both waves and particles. This property is referred to as the wave–particle duality. The study of light, known as optics, is an important research area in modern physics. Thus, the wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic has access to all of said properties, capable of displaying them in any manner that they deem to be suitable in accordance to the situation at hand. However, as mentioned above and as the name of this iteration of Dragon Slayer Magic would ever-so-subtly indicate, Photon Dragon Slayer Magic mainly revolves around the photons generated by this magic, these particles serving as a building block for the innumerable abilities Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is capable of performing. Possessing a zero invariant mass, which is a characteristic of the total energy and momentum of an object or a system of objects that is the same in all frames of reference related by Lorentz transformations, yet according to Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity, possess a certain amount of momentum, the photons manifested by Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, although they can be created and destroyed, their lifetime is infinite, and in that way, the element of the Dragon of Dragons can be said to embody Ein Sof, which, in Kabbalah is God prior to his self-manifestation in the production of any spiritual Realm, derived from Ibn Gabirol's term, "the Endless One" and can be translated as "no end", "unending", "there is no end", or infinity - such a power befits the likes of the Dragon of Dragons, the strongest dragon of all. Shining energies raging endlessly, all before the wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic instinctively prostrate themselves before this power of infinity.

Light can also be employed in other ways, with the user being capable of emitting it in vast amounts in the form of waves and bursts that appear not dissimilar to the likes of Fairy Law, enough to cover a wide area, and of shaping it into various forms as detailed in the Photonic Forge section below. Both users of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic possesses great versatility in regards to the usage of this magic; even creating a distortion of the senses, revealing how the brain normally organizes and interprets sensory stimulation to fool their opponents by manipulating the light the eyes of their enemies receive in a manner not dissimilar to the likes of Illusion Magic and release potent rocket bursts of light with relative ease. When used for offense, the Magic can take the form of a sphere-like object that can be ejected at the opponent or as a beam that can be blasted. The user has demonstrated the ability to condense their light, enabling their light to cut clean through various objects. When formed into spheres of light, the light serves to be rather concussive, able to firmly pulverize objects, such as stone; the user is able to generate powerful shields of swirling light which could withstand the full force of four simultaneous elemental attacks. The user is even able to charge up their light before releasing it. Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, as per its nature the primeval form of light-based Slayer Magic, also has the ability to produce a greater amount of light than any other light magician to exist without tiring no matter the tier of light-derived magic they harness, and the user has shown to be able to maintain successive assaults for long periods of time, befitting its trait of "infinity". Like all light-based magics, the user can run their light in an area's surface, to obtain information of past events, like a powerful form of psychometry. What is perhaps the signature ability of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is also one of the more obvious properties the manipulation of light would possess - a universal physical constant in physics is the fact that a photon travels at approximately two hundred and ninety-nine million, seven-hundred and ninety-two thousand, four-hundred and fifty-eight meters per second or about one-hundred and eighty-six million, two-hundred and eighty-two thousand, three-hundred and ninety-seven miles per second in a vacuum and light travels at the same speed in an empty space; Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is able to replicate that event, thus resulting in the wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic being capable of moving at the speed of light, which is also the maximum speed at which all energy, matter, and physical information in the universe can travel. Thus, the wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic possesses a limitless level of speed and velocity, enabling them to move at speeds that not even the most attuned of beings can grasp and outrun or avoid anything an opponent can use against the user of this Dragon Slayer Magic; directed in accordance to their thoughts, when in motion, the user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic seems to become a living laser while in motion, while also being capable of reflecting themselves to any location that they desire - this power reaches its zenith with the "Accellight" spell, as detailed below. Due to their mastery over the power of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, the user is possibly the fastest person in the world, as nothing is faster than the speed of light - with one exception.

As mentioned many times, a user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic has could be perceived as "absolute dominance" over the element of light, meaning that not only can they manipulate it in any way, shape, or form, they can effortlessly harness its supplementary effects without extending them into spells - a good example is that the user is capable of causing others to view light as colour-shifts as they get closer (red) or further away (blue) from themselves- this is referred to as the Doppler Effect; the user mainly uses this power to disrupt their enemy's sights, leaving them at a loss on where to attack when facing them. In addition, the user can increase the vibrancy of these colours to temporarily blind their foes and allow them to get a clean hit in without exceptions. The user can also induce obfuscation by scattering photons, effectively enabling the user to completely turn off the lights in a room, leaving only the user able to see properly; this allows the user to carve a bloody swathe through their confused foes. It is rumoured that the user is able to cause a city-wide blackout with this technique; the Doppler Effect can also be used to detect the distortions caused by energies hitting or passing through a moving object By refracting light from their eyes, the user is capable of observing two places at once, enabling them to see from the front and in any other direction they desire; if utilized correctly, this allows the user to remove the fact that they can be taken by surprise; to onlookers, it appears as if the user has a "sixth sense" of sorts. And, of course, the user is capable of causing bilocation, which causes their foes to view two places at once; this allows the user to shift themselves towards the enemy's blind spot. Upon noticing the "fake" of the user, their foes become caught under brief hypnosis, causing those under the influence of the technique can be easily outmaneuvered by the user. However, the user must stabilize their magical energies in order for this technique to work; if the user's magical energy is thrown out of balance (this is done by rousing their emotions or by being struck by anything outside of the area-of-effect, or even by losing focus while initiating this technique), then this technique will dissipate and the user will be left stunned- this bilocation power is touted as a "high risk, high reward" type power, with it able to completely save their hide in many a situation if applied properly.

To get onto the differences between Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, White Dragon Slayer Magic, Light Dragon Slayer Magic, and god-knows-what else, Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is noted to be the very first form of light-based Slayer Magic, and the stone from which countless others were hewn. While this would indicate that Photon Dragon Slayer Magic has the ability to perform all of the powers often associated with later iterations of light-based Slayer Magics, the truth couldn't be further from such a preposterous assumption- Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is an absolute. It should be taken into consideration that Photon Dragon Slayer Magic could technically count as two elements instead of just a single one in a manner of speaking- or rather, it manipulates two kinds of light, both with vastly different properties. The Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is based upon heaven manipulation, subjugation over the properties that are contained within the stars and space; allowing the user to use the properties of many astronomical objects for battle, preferably in offense. The properties of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic rely primarily on astronomical objects like stars, or the generation and manipulation of the energy of light from their own body- despite being called heavenly manipulation, it is nothing but enormously augmented light magic - however, due to the origins of dragonkind in the Sun Trilogy, it really could be considered manipulation of the heavens. Photon Dragon Slayer Magic completely blows all other forms of light-manipulating magics, no matter their status (whether they're Lost Magic or Slayer Magic) out of the water, possessing an intensity unmatched and unrivalled by anyone or anything; it can be said that even in the New Era and the fears of such unfathomable lights having been quashed as humanity has finally moved out of its divine obsession phase, there has never been anything like Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, both before and since. The sheer intensity and output released by each and every attack of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is more than enough to raze straight through any and every defense- it can be said that a spell such as Fairy Sphere would not remain unscathed through direct contact with photonic rays of photons that is released by the user. Indeed, the light unleashed with this magic can burn straight through all forms of magic-based defenses and other alloy-based structures, no matter the composition- upon contact with an opposing source of light, the photons released by this iteration of Dragon Slayer Magic devour them and use the minuscule amounts of energy (in comparison) in order to empower the speed and strength of the ongoing attack. Even then however, the sheer power of this power is monstrous, and many are easily defeated through one attack because of the speed and instantaneous effects this magic has.

The photons manifested by Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, as mentioned above, are known to release truly unfathomable quantities of energies, at least approximately equivalent to a nuclear explosion; indeed, it's said that the fear and fascination that humankind has of dragonkind stems from the early days, where humanity and other races worshipped dragonkind and the gods, fearing divine retribution if they were to act out of line and cause chaos. This terror stemmed from a concept known as the "Light of Judgment" (裁きの光, Sabaki no Hikari), a destructive ray of holy energy that descended upon those with wicked hearts, cleansing all in its wake. People lived in fear of this holy light shining down upon them and destroying everything, leaving naught but tears and regret, so they acted humanely as an attempt to stay in the 'good books' of what lived above in the starry heavens. This formed the crux of humanity's worship of what they saw as deities- an unhealthy relationship born from terror and anxiety. That which was referred to as the "Light of Judgment" was simply the destructive power of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic utilized by the Dragon of Dragons unleashing unending amounts of photonic energy that could raze everything that it came into contact with to the ground. Only a few beings were capable of producing such a high-quality light, with one of them being the Infinite Light Dragon God, of course. As soon as humanity learnt of the fact that this ray of divine retribution wasn't karma coming back to bite them rather spectacularly most of the time, but rather a magical power produced by exceptionally powerful beings, the fear subsided ever-so-slightly- though it never truly went away. Of course, the fear of the unknown was something that everyone, humanoid or not, was something they held close to their hearts- the fact that rays of pure destruction raided down from the heavens at random intervals was pants-shittingly scary, mind you. Photon Dragon Slayer Magic can be said to be an embodiment of the concept of destruction itself, bringing mass devastation to anything that the photonic rays released by the magic comes into contact with without fail. The photons unleashed by this magic seem to have transcendent priority, constantly smashing through any other spell that would hope to put a stop to its movements- busting through everything and anything in its way, ripping through any chances of defense like wet rice paper, the light released by this magic is truly "divine retribution" that transcends fantasy and paves its way into reality, a single strike will land without fail and vaporize anything in its way in a split second; its basic hyperresonance attack can be considered equally powerful as the Magic Council's secret weapon, Satellite Square: Etherion, if not even more-so. Because of the power displayed by each and every aspect of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, it can be inferred that it easily one of the strongest iterations of Dragon Slayer Magic to have ever existed- however, this was also a double-edged sword, and the Dragon of Dragons never taught anyone their personal Dragon Slayer Magic- indeed, Charlotte herself was born with it due to being the child of Ashur. As the most powerful light-based Slayer Magic, the user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic has domination over the element of light, allowing them to take an opponent's light-based attack and turn it on them, essentially making it their own; indeed, the user controls all of the light in the area and they can manipulate it to their will. Lastly, when using their emotions in battle, this results in a massive increase the overall power of their spells; as Magic is fueled by emotions, and light-based magics moreso, this would naturally amplify the power surge they gain a hundredfold in comparison to more ordinary magics.

As with all forms of Dragon Slayer Magic, Photon Dragon Slayer Magic has virtually unlimited customization options in regards to the element formed through simple magical manipulation and reinforced through the power of a dragon – the colour of the photons produced by the magic is able to be altered freely, its properties which aren't limited to but include temperature, the smell that it emits, its taste, and overall "feel" is capable of being modified to the user's liking for countless different effects and powers, more often than not being attuned to the user's own personality and ambitions; the type of damage that the light inflicts upon anything that it comes into contact with is able to be changed at will; in its normal state, Photon Dragon Slayer Magic seems to have a "piercing" effect to it, seemingly causing armour-ignoring damage alongside the user's burning ambition given a corporal form in their element; like all Slayer Magics, the user's element is much tougher than any other example of it; in the case of the user, the light which is produced by Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is stronger than normal light, capable of shrugging off anything thrown their way, enabling the user to overwhelm other forms of light. Of course, as the highest form of elemental manipulation around, the wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is capable of harnessing their magic in any manner that they deem to be suitable, commonly changing between offensive, defensive, evasive, or supplementary potencies in accordance to the situation at hand; but generally, as long as the Dragon Slayer is able to imagine these incredible photons being used in a particular manner and it doesn't break the laws of physics or conflict with any established limitations, then the sky is the limit, more or less. As per the nature of Slayer Magic, a Dragon Slayer is immune to the effects of their own element, and in this case, the wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic can consume external sources of anything considered to be a "light" to replenish their strength, both stamina-wise and magic-wise. They are also naturally immune to the effects of their own light that came from both their own person and to those from other sources, but must consume it through their mouths if they are to actually absorb it into their bodies; while they can't consume the light when produced by themselves, it should be taken into consideration that Photon Dragon Slayer Magic also bestows upon the wielder immunity to effects related to the light as well such as blindness and heatstroke at its highest levels. Interestingly, as stated above, the user has shown the ability to absorb any kind of light- or rather, the concept of light. This includes, not only natural sources of light such as starlight and sunlight, but even the light from the eyes of others. This can extend to the light produced by even non-light-based attacks and artificial light such as from a lightbulb.

CharlotteMetalMake

Charlotte with numerous Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama formed around her.

During the time she spent as a fugitive, she trained continuously as to not only improve herself for her eventual showdown with Tsuruko, but to master her inherent Photon Dragon Slayer Magic. Thanks to Charlotte's knowledge of alchemy and her own fighting spirit, her version of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic's Photonic Forge subspecies ability is the complete opposite of any other form of alchemic generation- by smashing her left first into her open right palm, Charlotte ignites her fighting spirit which allows her to induce transmutation by using her burning fighting spirit as a perfectly suitable substitute for the energies required for regular photon generation, instantly gathering eternano from the atmosphere and merging the energies with her own magical energy, before harnessing Shape Transformation in order to mold the energies into any photonic structure that she deems suitable before projecting it outwards- this is represented by large circular grids of golden hexagons resembling Magic Seals superimposing the sources of power in a similar manner to that of her Photon Dragon's Scintilla spell, forcing her willpower upon the ground and from there, generating anything that she wishes in accordance to her imagination. While she prefers to use her Photon Dragon Slayer Magic in its basic form, Charlotte is capable of taking all sources of light in the immediate surroundings and manipulate them with magical energy alone- in an instant, countless spires of spindly solidifed light erupt from the ground and close in on her opponent, wrapping around at astounding speeds while possessing enough force in order to pierce anything and everything that could be considered a feasible defense against thevicious barrage that quickly closes in on their helpless figures. Thanks to her naturally immense limberness and skill in acrobatics, Charlotte is capable of darting around the vicinity by propelling herself around using photonic objects, making her quite difficult to land a proper hit on, casually taking sources of light out of the surroundings and shaping them into any structure that she deems suitable, such as launching countless needles of photonic energy in order to perforate all kinds of defenses and fashioning makeshift armour and barricades to protect herself from an incoming blow if her evasive options are relatively slim. In the heat of battle, Charlotte has shown immense prowess with using her Photon Dragon Slayer Magic's Photonic Forge subspecies ability, most prominently its Static version – she is commonly seen using the Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama spell to zoom across the battlefield at all angles, instantly closing gaps between her and her foes, or reel herself or her enemy into close-combat range, she can also use her wires to attack opponents from afar, or reel them in; while Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama is normally a mid-long range magical ability, Charlotte uses it in a close-range manner befitting her love of close combat. While creating thin wires of light known as Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama are her favoured form of harnessing Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, Charlotte has also displayed the ability to form other constructs from photons; a good example of this is manifesting fists of light from the ground and buildings, columns of solidified energy to use as stepping stones or stairs to enable her to gain a higher ground, or simpler uses such as transmuting weapons in the heat of combat- however, due to her preference to close-range combat, this is more often than not simply Charlotte summoning gauntlet drills to equip and increase the damage she does. The power of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic also enables her structures created from Photonic Forge to accelerate to near-light speeds, meaning that the attacks of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic begin and end in just a split second, causing large amounts of trouble for her enemies; not only this, she can shape the Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spells into countless formations- the most common is forming a vortex of wires of light which lash away and eliminate the threat of projectiles.

Charlotte displays a peculiar form of using Photon Dragon Slayer Magic referred to as the Chrome Rectangle Technique (鉛長方形伎, Enchōhōkeigi), which was a method developed by herself in order to combat Soul Armours and counter the seemingly nigh-indestructible alloy that composes their armour—Soul Metal; which is based on the will of the Soul Armour Knight, meaning that the malleability of the alloy depends on person to person- to counter such a highly variable alloy that Photon Dragon Slayer Magic is incapable of normally affecting even though its power is to burn through everything in its path using the power of infinity, the Chrome Rectangle Technique is a activation method that destroys the very heart of the metal itself. Infusing Photon Dragon Slayer Magic with her fighting spirit, massively bolstering the resultant creations' strength and speed, Charlotte, by going through a mathematical theorem, shapes a miniature rectangle into the photonic object manifested through the Photonic Forge subspecies power, which she continuously divides into a square through intense application of her fighting spirit, going even further as to turn that square into an even smaller rectangle, at which point, the angle that causes the edges of the each rectangle to link up take upon the form of a spiral that continuously whirls around without limit. As it was generated through her fighting spirit, this spiral is integrated within the existence of her photonic powers, changing its composition from that of "photons boosted by willpower" into "Ardor manifested in a physical form"'; through immense amounts of fighting spirit, only then, is a fighter capable of harming and successfully defeating something that is normally exclusive to a different power. By aiming clockwise, any Photonic Forge creation that is used as a projectile or a thrusting weapon, while it is spinning around like an excavation drill suited to devour the bedrock, upon impacting with the opponent, it induces a chaotic rippling motion in the surface no matter its composition, granting Charlotte's photon powers the ability to negatively affect Soul Metal (and by extension, Soul Armours), cut straight through all forms of elemental bodily transformations, as well as bypass Tsuruko Sejren's Zero Effect and land several clean hits upon her old friend. The Chrome Rectangle Technique is also transferable between objects, as once Tsuruko discovered the inner workings of how Charlotte was capable of affecting her, the moment that Charlotte attempted to use it once more and was about to hit Tsuruko with a photonic sphere, Tsuruko launched her arm towards Charlotte using the Rocket Punch Limit Break, thus transferring the infinite rotation back to Charlotte and blowing her away. It should be noted that Tsuruko can negate the Chrome Rectangle Technique-bolstered photon creations with her Zero Effect, she would have to voluntarily do so in this case, whereas any magic that isn't influenced by the enemy's fighting spirit would simply roll off her like raindrops. However, the Chrome Rectangle Technique has a singular glaring weakness; it requires a reference that is in found in nature in order to be used, therefore rendering it useless in an empty room or vast flat ground.

  • Gekirin (降臨の逆鱗(ゲキリン), Gekirin lit. Advent of the Imperial Fury): Gekirin is a peculiar ability which can be accessed by any and all of dragonkind; it is the ability to become stronger through harvesting the blood of their enemies. Gekirin is perhaps the power that burnt their presences into the minds of humanity even before the Dragon Civil War - but after which, it was soon forgotten as their Dragon Slayer Magic took prominence over it. The Gekirin stems from a difference in how dragonkind was seen from two different continents- in the west, dragons were considered monsters, in the east, dragons were a god-like existence; but even so, they had a rather terrifying defect- out of the eighty-one Dragon Scales, a single scale is inverted; digging into their skin, while normally it's something that can be brushed off, if this irregular scale is so much as touched, then a dragon would immediately lose their already ferocious temper, flying into a rage which seems impossible to calm- this resulted in the dragons receiving a rather noticeable boost in power, enabling the dragon to greatly increase their own power through simply killing somebody of supernatural origin. By their own claim, they will continue to grow stronger the more that they kill, regardless of what form the life actually takes—however, it will not work if they kill humans who are not users of Slayer Magic; as the Gekirin has an aversion to the magical energy of human bodies. Interestingly, the Gekirin works in order to increase both physical and magical power—upon landing a kill, the dragon's Magic Origin, their Factor of the Dragon absorbs their victims' energy into their dragon scales, absorbing the diminishing magical power of those who they kill by breaking it down into simple eternano, allowing them to use their mastery over their magical energy to command the eternano into their Factor of the Dragon, which finds its way into their body and enhances it, increasing their physical strength while the remaining eternano will be sent into their Factor of the Dragon subconsciously, increasing the quantity and intensity of the energies produced by their Dragon Slayer Magic and draconic-related powers. Interestingly, the Gekirin will only raise the dragon's power by twice the amount for every twenty kills, as to prevent them from becoming overly powerful, but it is noted that the changes in power are permanent, with their power only rising and rising. Effectively, the Gekirin drains the life out of everything that the dragon's claws, fangs, tail, wings, and the rest of its body comes into contact with, turning living organisms into dried husks of their former selves and devastating the environment. The Gekirin will not be activated by indirect damage, such as through a projectile spell—the user is required to strike the enemy down in close-combat in order to engage it; the Gekirin is said to be capable of enabling the dragon to devour the souls of opponents that they kill. Once enough power has been gathered, an extension of Gekirin becomes available for the dragon to harness.

      Charlotte in Outrage Mode.

Outrage Mode (反旗の逆鱗(アウトレイジ・モード), Autoreiji Mōdo lit. Imperial Fury of the Revolt Banner): Outrage Mode is the expansion of the Gekirin power – it is the idea of "fury empowering this already fearsome existence" taken to the extreme. As the dragon slays more and more opponents who foolishly continue to attempt to oppose them in the hopes of worldwide recognition, bravery, or just plain stupidity, this scaled creature gains more and more power, with their bodies becoming soaked in the blood of their enemies while the arcane energies of their felled foes seep into their Factor of the Dragon. These energies, after a while, begin to affect the dragon's body, with the dragon absorbing more and more magical energy into their Factor of the Dragon through the inverted scale, causing an evolution that results in the dragon's appearance and attributes changing, making it significantly stronger than it was before, transforming into an expansion of their current form- a temporary evolution of sorts. Despite the extreme modifications to the dragon's bodies, their consciousness remains unchanged. After undergoing transformation, the dragon gains various additions to their form, such as armour or weaponry- or their body may just change completely to the point of being unrecognizable. A dragon can only stay in their transformed form until their energy is depleted, and if a dragon does not absorb enough magical energy needed to maintain the form, it will not be able to retain that form for long and revert to their previous form in a matter of time. However, in many cases, these transformations can be considered a part of the dragon's natural life cycle, transforming as a result of age and experience. If a dragon does not absorb enough magical energy needed to maintain the form, it will not be able to retain that form for long and revert to their previous form in a matter of time. In addition to the initial form that Outrage Mode provides, some dragons can undergo yet another transformation which further bolsters their power. Because of the Gekirin and the Outrage Mode, it was known that people would warn others to simply stay the hell away from dragons as once their rampage had ended, entire maps had to be redrawn. The name of these powers, Gekirin (逆鱗, Imperial Fury), can be translated to mean imperial wrath or the wrath of one's superior, and appears in the idiom 逆鱗に触れる gekirin ni fureru, which means to infuriate one's superior. Additionally, term "Reverse Scale" (逆鱗, Gekirin), usually refers to a dragon scale growing in the opposite direction in Japanese and Chinese mythology – it is one particular scale out of eighty-one scales covering the body of the dragon. This scale, unlike others, is inverted. It is said in Japanese legends that if one were to touch the dragon’s gekirin, it would result in the wrath of the dragon. Charlotte's Outrage Mode is known as Emperio Dracorebel (極覇無限光王龍(エンピレオ・ドラコレヴェル), Enpireo Dorakorevueru lit. Supreme Pole Infinite Light King Dragon) and with it, she undergoes a dramatic change, appearance-wise.
Subspecies Abilities
  • Photonize (光子化(フォトナイズ), Fotonaizu lit. Transmogrify into Light Particles): Photonize is the greatest asset of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic; it is the ability to turn anything that the user of the magic touches into photons and then utilize that light in any way that they deem suitable. Photonize is a term referring to the transformation of a living organism or an inanimate object into photons; anything that can be considered to have a material consistency or dwells throughout the atmosphere, even other forms of particles- it is considered something that Photonize is capable of affecting. To go into further detail, Photonize is described as the proof of "light's supremacy"; a holy power without any equal that places all of existence under the user's thrall. It is a supplementary ability that a user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic can activate at any time- however, it has been confirmed that it isn't constantly engaged due to the sheer danger it would pose to the fabric of reality. Photonize functions by converting anything that the user deems fit into photons by using the immense power of said photons to annihilate its composition before changing and recreating it into photons- as to how this works, simply by willing it, the user is capable of focusing on any form of matter, whether it be something as big as a house or something as tiny as air molecules- no matter if it is a solid, a liquid, or even a gas, as long as it exists within this plane of existence, it is a fair target for the Photonize ability. When a user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic pours a larger amount of energy into the photons produced by this magic than normal, the moment that the photonic energy generated by this magic collides with any form of matter, energy and momentum are conserved, and the annihilated particles are replaced by photons; effectively enabling a user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic to change anything into their element as long as conservation of energy and conservation of momentum are obeyed; since photons have no mass, such a feat can be performed in a blink of an eye. With it, a user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic can absorb the surrounding structures, by forcing them to undergo particle alteration and breaking down their material consistencies and absorbing them, transforming them into photons which the caster can absorb through the traditional elemental consumption method of Dragon Slayer Magic for an indefinite period of time. Charlotte herself displays absolutely precise and incredibly impressive control over this power, as she can break down everything that possesses a material consistency within milliseconds and utilize it as a fuel to power her Photon Dragon Slayer Magic. It can literally tear away the components which make up objects, such as those which make up magic and structures, as well as the bodies of supernatural beings if they do not possess a suitable amount of fighting spirit to resist. With Photonize, the caster can alter and absorb the trees, sand, rocks, and even the buildings in Earth Land; showing no upper limit to what they can and cannot change and then absorb. As long as it possesses a material consistency, then the user can subjugate it to their will; even absorbing opposing physical as well as magical attacks and turning them into a source of energy. This ability even works on particles such as oxygen and hydrogen, allowing a user of the magic to suffocate an enemy or transform an entire ocean into light with Photonize. It has been hinted that Photonize also works on living beings, as Charlotte Merquise threatened to "turn her (Hikari Zanna) into her name" when holding her as a hostage against Tsuruko Sejren. Not only can a user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic cause matter annihilation, they can turn light into matter by smashing together only two photons to create an electron and a positron – the simplest method of turning light into matter ever predicted.
  • Light-Make

    Photonic Forge in action.

Photonic Forge (偽性・光の造形滅竜術(フォトニック・フォージ), Fotonikku Fōji lit. Pseudo-Light Forging Dragon Slayer Skill): Photonic Forge is a subspecies ability of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic derived from the common subspecies ability of Element Forge as harnessed by Dragon Slayer Magic that can be considered to be akin to the Light-Make Molding Magic in that both revolve around the creation of objects which are forged from light - while "creation of objects of light" is a power that's inherent within Photon Dragon Slayer Magic and most forms of Slayer Magic in general, Photonic Forge takes it a few steps further as to enable a level of utilization that's beyond simply using it to bolster the wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic's close-quarters capabilities. In any case, when performing Photonic Forge, the wielder of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic focuses for the briefest of moments, pulsing the magical energies dwelling within their Magic Origin outwards into the immediate area in order to interact with the eternano that's saturated throughout the atmosphere, thus starting up the mainstay magical energy + eternano fusion, this portion of the sequence enables the user to tap into alchemic theory, which is a philosophical and protoscientific tradition that aimed to purify, mature, and perfect certain objects into its mechanics as a major proponent of the sequence as they utilize their willpower as well as their Magical Aura surging outwards from their body in order to harness the principles of convergence, with the caster inducing the activation sequence of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, taking the concept of magic equaling the feelings of the magician to its absolute zenith – fuelling the fused energies with positive emotions, this results in the transmogrification of their arcane powers into photons, which are particles which transmit light that are also an elementary particle that serve as their own antiparticle, and by extension light, a type of energy considered to be a form of electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength which can be detected by the human eye, as light is carried over space by photons; this sequence draws from the inner feelings of the humanity to purify the world off all its evils and mistakes, like a beacon of hope; thus, the energies that are produced by Photon Dragon Slayer Magic are only light and benevolent in nature; during this process, the caster projects their Magic Seal outwards while envisioning the creation of their choice and drawing power from the atmosphere; the caster's magical energies flow from their own body and entwine themselves with everything else put into action through the activation sequence, resonating visually as a pulse of golden energy as the desired creation spawns from the glyph of energy accompanied by a swirling windstorm of light. The process in which this takes place is oftentimes less than a second, and photons can be formed into any object of the user's choosing: the only limitations are their own imagination, and occasionally, outside factors determines how long their formed spell will stay functional- though the latter can be nullified slightly through liberal application of magical power manipulation. Unlike most forms of Molding Magic, the user does not have to hold the light physically with their hands in order to shape it; making them a cut above most other forms of structure-creation magic; indeed, the only limitations are the user's own imagination, and it requires no prior movements which are all in-born with Molding Magic, instead, the user can form countless items simply by shaping their magical power as well as their light and thinking about it, not even using the proper modification technique known as Shape Transformation in order to bring their thoughts into reality; for this reason, it can be said that Photonic Forge is far more effective than bog-standard Molding Magic or powers similar to it; indeed, a skilled user is capable of creating countless amounts of objects for a multitude of uses, granting the user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic a capacity to create that is virtually unmatched. The main use of Photonic Forge is to shape the light that they create into different forms such as a series of blades and is able to propel themselves on one- though, shaping the substances into numerous beasts isn't unknown. The user is known to manipulate the density of their structures formed through all forms of Photonic Forge so that they can become as hard as diamond to as brittle as glass so that once they scatter near the enemy, the user can direct the stray photons scattering off of their spells to trap them and induce a death by a thousand blasts. With it, the user can create a variety of objects out of light to be used for offensive, defensive, or miscellaneous purposes. While so, one of those miscellaneous purposes are used for making medicines, drugs, and so on in the element of light energy being primarily present in the user's raw magical energy reserve. The items created out of the element light are purely curable against any poison-and-bacteria-base magics including Poison Magic, Poison-Make, and even Poison Dragon Slayer Magic by all forms. While as for being the polar opposite of Darkness, it can be very resistant and effective against dark-derived magics such as Darkness Magic, Darkness-Make, and even Black Dragon Slayer Magic. Outside of combat, the user can also change their surroundings using light, such as causing bilocation as mentioned above, causing the foe to view them in two places at once. The light also can be used as wound dressing, stanching bleeding and preventing micro-living bacterias/germs/poisons from anyway being physically spread across the wound itself. This type of magic can cure illnesses/viruses that they were infected with during their lifetime. As a result, all injuries inflicted upon any situations will be fully healed in the process. The sheer aftereffect of this Magic upon being used on a victim is that they will begin to feel purely cleanse of several symptoms of physiological or psychological meltdown such as mental stress, depression, or coma relief from the physical body taking hold of them, etc. Abnormally, Photonic Forge has a tendency to attract and draw in positive emotions from the user who is casting it to morally effect the victim's self-esteem. This in forth rekindle back the lost feelings of hope or spirit to the victim's mind, body, and soul from ever fearing the need of despair even if they're set up in the worst situations possible for them. As the user would feed on positivity and peaceful resolution, so does it cause the victim with a corrupt mind to feel hallucinated by the brilliant light, enticing them to remember their own past and yearn for forgiveness. It would henceforth make the victim themselves want to amend for all their wrong doings, evils, and mistakes in the past as if so they can have another chance in life. One of the sneakier methods of utilize Photonic Forge is that the user has two methods in which to induce Photonic Forge; but both methods can manifest structures which can be used for a diverse range of uses. The first one is called Static Photonic Forge. This type of Photonic Forge is characterized by the creation of inanimate objects, such as weapons, or by affecting the environment around them. The second type is called Dynamic Photonic Forge. This type of Photonic Forge focuses on creating animate light sculptures, usually in the form of animals; though human body parts and the like can also be formed. Dynamic Photonic Forge is said to be more quickly cast than Static Photonic Forge. While both styles of Photonic Forge have their own pros and cons, there is no clear "superior", leaving the matter of which style is "stronger" up to how much both versions evolve.
    • Static Photonic Forge (具鍛・偽性・光の造形滅竜術(スタティック・フォトニック・フォージ), Sutateikku Fotonikku Fōji lit. Tool-Forging Pseudo-Light Forging Dragon Slayer Skill): Static Photonic Forge is known as one of two mainstream methods with which to utilize the power of Photonic Forge; as one may suspect by the prefix, "Static" referring to how once created, it does not change unless through the interference of an outside source, Static Photonic Forge is characterized by the creation of inanimate objects that can be considered to be tools, physical items that can be used to achieve a goal, especially if the item is not consumed in the process; this usually consists of various forms of weapons of both close-range and long-range capabilities that suit the situation at hand. Static Photonic Forge is by far the most common method of harnessing Photonic Forge because they're relatively simple to maintain when compared to the numerous beasts of light created through its sister method; obviously, a sword composed from the element of light doesn't need further instructions once created as all the caster would need to do is use it to stab all kinds of things, whereas a tiger forged from photons would require mental commands and directions to make the most out of it. Indeed, because of how basic their composition is, Static Photonic Forge also has a greater amount of customization without the need to create entirely new spells and it's less of a hassle to manifest and keep in-action for long periods of time in contrast to the summoning constructs of the Dynamic version of the magic. In terms of use, Static Photonic Forge is known to be the user's preferred method of using the sub-ability, as weapons are relatively easier to manifest and keep in-action for long periods of time in contrast to the summoning constructs of the Dynamic version of Photonic Forge. Generally, each construct is capable of matching a real steel weapon blow-for-blow without shattering- Static Photonic Forge can be utilized to form almost any weaponry at all, and the user capable of conjuring anything from nothing. Close combat weapons such as swords and spears can be created effortlessly, though due to the intricate workings of existences such as guns, they are slightly more difficult; shields and staves can be reproduced with a much greater struggle, as the cost in magical energy is high, two or three times greater than a bladed weapon. As the user's most favoured method of utilizing Photonic Forge, Static Photonic Forge has reached the point where it can be considered mastered already. During the heat of battle, the user more often than not forms various weapons with a single snap of their fingers or by affecting the immediate vicinity where combat is ongoing, granting advantages to them and hampering their opponent(s). One of the user's most common uses of Static Photonic Forge is to affect the ground beneath them by jabbing light whether it has already been shaped or not into the soil below, inducing Photonize upon the surface and everything that entails in order to convert everything into light in the environment around their figure, reducing the soil to nothing, at which point, the user can manipulate and shape these newly-formed lights in any manner that they please- effectively, because of this, when combined with the elemental consumption method of Dragon Slayer Magic, enables the user to permanently possess freedom of movement no matter what as well as devour everything in sight to regenerate.
    • Dynamic Photonic Forge (実降・偽性・光の造形滅竜術(ダイナミック・フォトニック・フォージ), Dainamikku Fotonikku Fōji lit. Entity-Summoning Pseudo-Light Forging Dragon Slayer Skill): Dynamic Photonic Forge is the second method in which to harness the might of Photonic Forge; the prefix of "Dynamic" refers to how something is always in motion once created, and indeed, Dynamic Photonic Forge involves the user creating various animate objects forged from light in order to assist them in battle, whether it be for backup, or for other purposes. These inanimate objects are known to be formed when the caster focuses more magical energy into the formation of their Photonic Forge magic seal while envisioning a proper 'guardian', at which point, the user can manifest them from their magic seal – these shining beings take upon a white-blue colouration and emit a soft glow. What a wielder is capable of manifesting is highly variable, even moreso than Photonic Forge usually is – this usually takes upon the form of numerous creatures, including vertebrates such as fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals as well as invertebrates such as mollusks, arthropods, annelids, cnidarians, and sponges; of course, at greater levels of skill, phantasms which are universally a cut above the rest, legendary creatures, can be manifested, two notable examples being dragons and phoenixes. While Dynamic Photonic Forge focuses on shining animals, human body parts and the like can also be formed; skilled users can manifest full humanoid beings which can serve the purpose of a distraction or just assist the caster in battles; the user more often than not utilizes the creations made manifest by Dynamic Photonic Forge in order to assist her in battle, be used as diversions from all sorts of incoming blows, and last, but not least, as a means of transportation to reach heights that would normally be considered impossible or to evade an enemy's onslaught. Once brought into the current plane of existence, the creatures forged through Dynamic Photonic Forge function in a similar manner to Celestial Spirits and Familiars, as they're directed by the caster's mental commands and have their own abilities that are bestowed upon them by the wielder's thoughts. Dynamic Photonic Forge is said to be cast at a quicker pace than the shining weapons of Static Photonic Forge; though they generally cost more magical power to maintain due to Dynamic Photonic Forge summoning beings which more often than not requiring the user to direct and command them. With Dynamic Photonic Forge and a good memory, the user has the ability to summon avatars of the foes that they've defeated in a manner not dissimilar to Historia of the Dead, the stronger they are the better. Charlotte is said to not really be interested in Dynamic Photonic Forge as she prefers to fight her battles herself, but the Dragon of Dragons was noted to be an absolute master of this version of Photonic Forge, manifesting entire armies from nothing to run wild upon those who opposed her.
Basic Spells
Regular Spells
  • Photonic Pulsar (光子竜の咆哮(フォトニック・パルサー), Fotonikku Parusā lit. Photon Dragon's Roar): Photonic Pulsar is the hyperresonance ability of a dragon, attuned to the element of light- as such, it works best with Photon Dragon Slayer Magic. When performing Photonic Pulsar, the user utilizes their enhanced lung capacity in order to gather and condense ambient eternano from within the atmosphere and store it momentarily within their mouth- from here, the user attunes the eternano gathered by merging them with their energy in order to induce the usual fusion to being power into the current realm; this results in the user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic taking the 'magic = feelings' concept to the fullest—by fuelling their magic with positive feelings, the user is capable of initiating the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; they draw more and more light into their massive jaws from which no flying, talking cats have ever seen the light of day until they have gathered enough to the point that just by propelling it outwards, they could cause a bombardment of radiance that covers an entire continent. Once this is done, in order to unleash the magical energy, the user utilizes the Dragon Cords (竜帯, Ryūtai), a dragon's equivalent of vocal cords which produce a louder and harsher sound while amplifying anything emitted from their mouth tremendously, resulting in a massive blast of energy spewing forth from the user's mouth towards the target; in the case of Photonic Pulsar, which, of course, as both of its names would suggest, is based around light, this has the effect of unleashing a truly enormous ray of light which can be considered more like a breath that releases a gigantic laser than anything else. This laser barrels down and pierces through the opponent at light-speeds while cutting a path of flame through the ground; the user is able to fire the attack very quickly, while maintaining precise aim- due to lasers moving at light-speed, it can be inferred that Photonic Pulsar both starts and ends in a split second. The whiplash of the attack can be quite huge, usually blowing apart anything behind the user at the time of attack. The beam is powerful enough to strike multiple enemies and even two adjacent foes simultaneously; violently pushing the intended opponent and objects around them away from the user with overwhelming blunt force. The moment that Photonic Pulsar impacts upon the foe's body, it explodes violently, releasing an immense amount of light bright enough to blind the foe, illuminate the vicinity to the point that it can turn night to day, clearing the murky skies and ushering in azure instantly. A fully charged Photonic Pulsar can fill an entire valley with the explosion as well as plow through a multiple layered barrier such as Defenser MAX, while creating an explosion that is far larger than a tower and the mountains around it. The user is capable of altering the trajectory of the attack to the point that it can undergo several complex maneuvers, which can, in extreme cases, allow the user to strike more than one opponent with relative ease. Unlike many other hyperresonance abilities, Photonic Pulsar can be used without the need for particular preparations, something which makes it notably faster to use, though it does slightly decrease the strength of the attack. Photonic Pulsar requires three seconds to travel a few ten thousand-kilometer distance, and the user can immediately fire the next attack after confirming a miss, but after twelve attacks, they will run out of magical energy.
    • Tenfold Photonic Pulsar (10倍・ 光子竜の咆哮(フォトニック・パルサー), Jūbai Fotonikku Parusā lit. Times Ten Photon Dragon's Roar): In Dragonar Mode, Charlotte can perform a variant of Photonic Pulsar known as 10x Photonic Pulsar; which is the original but massively augmented. When performing 10x Photonic Pulsar, Charlotte first inhales, gathering light within her mouth; adding her own magical power into the mixture to serve as a propellant to the light; charging it up for a few moments. Once the charging phase has been completed, Charlotte unleashes a mighty roar that unleashes an enormous amount of golden energy that takes the form of a crackling wave of light that shoots forth instantly, blasting the opponent with immense power. While Tenfold Photonic Pulsar does indeed possess incredible strength, speed, and a wide area-of-effect, the spell's true power lies in the fact that it possesses the a delayed effect if the initial blast should fail, wherein the target will be blasted by residual effects left over by the wave of light. While not as overwhelming as the initial blast, the after-effect can catch foes off guard. The might displayed by Tenfold Photonic Pulsar is more than enough to completely vaporize a dracolich's horn, left wing, and the bottom half of the demon's body.
      • Hundredfold Photonic Pulsar (100倍・ 光子竜の咆哮(フォトニック・パルサー), Hyakubai Fotonikku Parusā lit. Times One Hundred Photon Dragon's Roar): An even stronger version of 10x Photonic Pulsar displayed by Charlotte in Dragoascension; when performing 100x Photonic Pulsar, Charlotte first inhales, gathering light within her mouth; adding her own magical power into the mixture to serve as a propellant to the light; charging it up for a few moments. Once the charging phase has been completed, Charlotte unleashes a mighty roar that unleashes an enormous amount of golden energy wave which has a cascade of photons that coils around it, thus creating an effect similar to a drill or a screw. The Hundredfold Photonic Pulsar rips through the atmosphere, disturbing the fabric of space, spinning like a razor as it compresses and decompresses due to the sheer speed and raw power. Possessing immense penetrative qualities, the Hundredfold Photonic Pulsar brings immense destruction while it creates a one hundred and fifty meter diameter of extremely high heated energy, and also an electromagnetic field effect- akin to a nuclear explosion. This attack creates an enormous explosion upon contact and leaves a huge mushroom cloud; similar a nuclear bomb; this effect spreads out to a fan-shaped area; indeed, the immense damage dealt by this iteration of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic's Dragon's Roar is more than enough to take out an entire army of foes, no matter any precautions taken beforehand.
    • Photonic Pulsar - Scattershot (光子竜の咆哮・光散列(フォトニック・パルサー・スキャッターショット), Fotonikku Parusā - Sukyattāshotto lit. Photon Dragon's Roar - Shining Diffusion Array): Photonic Pulsar - Scattershot is a variant of Photonic Pulsar where multiple blasts of photonic energy are launched towards the target at once, splitting from an enormous wave of photons into countless smaller ones. When performing Photonic Pulsar - Scattershot, the user first inhales, gathering light within their mouth; adding their own magical power into the mixture to serve as a propellant to the light; charging it up for a few moments. Once the charging phase has been completed, the user unleashes a mighty roar that unleashes an enormous amount of golden energy which transfigures into a cascade of shining beams reminiscent of shooting stars, which lock-on to their opponents no matter their position, chasing after them at incredible speed; they possess tremendous force and are touted to chase their foes to the ends of the earth, no matter where the foe is standing, even if they possessed high speed, as they would catch their foe eventually. The shooting stars can move at impossible angles that always manage to reach its target; they will always change their path around any obstacles or pierce through any wall in order to reach their target. As they move though the atmosphere, they gather and condense stray magical particles upon their forms to increase in speed. They can dodge obstacles in their way, unless it is not physically possible, never ceasing their hunt until they catch their prey. Impacting upon their opponent, these shining beams detonate with great force, enough to level a city block.
    • Photonic Pulsar – Condenshot (光子竜の咆哮・集束砲号(フォトニック・パルサー・コンデンショット), Fotonikku Parusā - Kondenshotto lit. Photon Dragon's Roar: Focused Ordinance Edition): Photonic Pulsar – Condenshot is a variant of Photonic Pulsar which is the result of compressing the photons unleashed from the user's mouth to their utmost limit. When performing Photonic Pulsar - Condenshot, the user first inhales, gathering light within their mouth; adding their own magical power into the mixture to serve as a propellant to the light; charging it up for a few moments. Once the charging phase has been completed, the user compresses the enormous roaring wave of photons about to be released upon their foe into a much smaller form- at this point, the caster unleashes a mighty roar that spawns a hyper-compressed and wire-thin beam from their mouth which shoots towards their opponent, impacting before they can even react in accordance. Despite being such a small beam, the range of the Photonic Pulsar – Condenshot is vast and its attack power is quite impressive too; it strikes the enemy in the blink of an eye- however, despite its small composition, this spell does not deal immense piercing damage- rather, the photon wavelength of Photonic Pulsar – Condenshot synchronized to the frequency of the enemy's magical output while preparing the spell, immobilizing the opponents and confining them in a sphere of condensed photons suspended mid-air, allowing the user to follow up with a 'free hit' of sorts; however, to prevent spamming, Photonic Pulsar – Condenshot cannot be cast immediately after trapping the enemy, meaning that the user will need to follow-up with something else in their available arsenal.
    • Cipher Pulsar (反物質・光子竜の拡咆哮(サイファー・パルサー), Saifā Parusā lit. Antimatter Photon Dragon's Enhanced Roar): Cipher Pulsar is a variant of Photonic Pulsar; it is effectively the same attack, but it involves the user firing Cipher energies instead of photons. When performing Cipher Pulsar, the user first inhales, gathering cipher within their mouth; adding their own magical power into the mixture to serve as a propellant to the antimatter photons; charging it up for a few moments. Once the charging phase has been completed, the user unleashes a mighty roar that releases a positively enormous wave of blackened, crackling light from their mouth which shoots forward like a tidal wave washing over everything and anything in a truly wide area before the user. This beam covers a wide range, almost five kilometers in diameter while creating a massive firestorm of liht over a large area to do heavy damage to all enemies. When Cipher Pulsar is in flight, the antimatter photons lock-on to the user's opponents no matter their position, chasing after them. They can dodge obstacles in their way, unless it is not physically possible, never ceasing their hunt until they catch their prey, accelerating destructive power; upon a single command, these antimatter photons penetrate the foe's body, paralyzing them. Upon entering the opponent's body, the antimatter photons become smaller particles. As always, the Cipher photons have the principle of antimatter, which cause degenerative action wherever they stop. There, the user commands the antimatter photons that were inside the opponent's body to explode through a mental command, releasing a large amount of black light which has the capability to destroy the foe's body outright, erupting outwards and "purifying the very soul", releasing it as a flash of light conceptualized for the simple purpose of absolute destruction, provoking the obliteration of the enemy from the inside out in a very violent manner, sometimes propelling the victim into the air or anything in the vicinity by the sheer force of the blast with an enormous explosion.
  • CharlotteScintilla

    Charlotte preparing Starbright Sparkray.

Starbright Sparkray (光子竜の攻撃・気流魔砲(スターブライト・スパークレイ), Sutāburaito Supākurei lit. Photon Dragon's Strike: Energy-Streaming Magicannon): Starbright Sparkray is the name of a powerful Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell which is exclusive to Charlotte Merquise- it can be considered one of her signature attacks and similar to the Magic Ray spell, but still possesses enough in common with the regular Photon Dragon Slayer Magic to carry its properties. Effectively, Starbright Sparkray is a rainbow-coloured laser of photonic energy released from Charlotte's cupped hands. When performing Starbright Sparkray, Charlotte cusps her hands together while still keeping her hands open, her fingers in a clawed position as she throws her hands to her sides. From here, she gathers and condenses stray magical energies which are ambient in the atmosphere, converging at a single point between her hands. From here, she applies Shape Transformation mentally, compressing the azurite supernatural particles into that of a sphere-esque shape which spins around at high speeds- and going even further, Charlotte now induces the activation of her Photon Dragon Slayer Magic by taking the 'magic = feelings' concept to the fullest—by fuelling her magic with positive feelings, she initiates the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; in this case, the sphere of swirling magical energies cupped between her hands becomes that of the light element, with its azure textures becoming a shining golden which constantly switches between all seven colours of the rainbow, its spectrum fluctuating wildly as the spiralling motions that the orb undergoes intensify drastically. When firing the Starbright Sparkray, Charlotte throws her hands forward, resulting in the manifestation of a Magic Seal that is mainly golden in texture and appears similar to that of a group of shining hexagons illuminated by light, all attached together to resemble a circle with a hole in the middle, with the seal charging coherent energies through Charlotte's magical energies in order to rapidly excite the constituent particles of photons, which experience an increase in density and seem to multiply; this causes them to seek equilibrium and self-stabilize, being reflected and amplified by Charlotte's willpower and formed into a high-powered and potentially destructive beam of laser energy which is in a hyper-condensed form; essentially, a powerful surging ray of pure light that shines all seven colours of the rainbow- the trajectory of which spins around at astounding speeds in a spiralling motion, faster than the untrained eye can properly comprehend- this simulates the effect of a drill, significantly bolstering the penetrative power of the Starbright Sparkray. Unlike any other projectile-type spells released by any form of light-derived magic, including fellow Slayer Magics and Lost Magics, Starbright Sparkray actually is an actual laser instead of a (comparatively) slow-moving projectile forged from light. As one knows, a laser is an amplified, single-colour source of light. The beam of light from the laser does not get wider or weaker as most sources of light do; indeed, a laser is distinguished from other sources of light by its coherence, expressed through the output of Starbright Sparkray being a narrow, almost-razor-thin beam rather than a gigantic light blast. As the laser is focused to an extremely tiny spot, it achieves a very high irradiance and a low divergence so that it does not lose power even after travelling a long distance. The Starbright Sparkray is known as a beam that burns through targets like a missile, causing everything metallic that it so much as glances through to disintegrate, vaporizing everything in its path, burning through clothing and melting defenses upon contact. Laser wounds are every bit as bloody as knife wounds, and upon connection with a flesh-and-blood enemy, Starbright Sparkray causes the water in the body to boil, expand and rip the surrounding tissues apart, much like a high velocity bullet impact. The launching speed of Starbright Sparkray is that of the speed of light, meaning that immediately after the sparse seconds that it takes to thrust her hands forward, Charlotte's strike has reached its target, impacting instantaneously with no way to dodge or defend- to onlookers, it appears as if that at the moment of Charlotte throwing her hands forward, a brief flash of light exists in the mortal plane briefly as everything before her has a hole punched in it no matter its composition, if not being disintegrated entirely- the time that this takes is less than a fraction of a second. It doesn't matter what comes between the laser and Charlotte's target, any obstacles will simply end up taking the same damage the target takes as the laser tears straight through any form of defense, no matter the origin or the composition like it was wet tissue paper, displaying immense pushing force as it blows away anything it so much as grazes while grinding any obstruction to dust like a drill eating away at bedrock. Starbright Sparkray is known to be Charlotte Merquise's signature move, and it sees liberal usage through the arc in which she is featured; as her best attack, she has displayed almost perfect mastery over Starbright Sparkray, being capable of controlling and modifying the output of the attack in almost way that she deems fit; this isn't limited to but it includes changing the properties of the lasers, causing them to inflict piercing penetrating damage, explode violently upon contact, as well as manually control their flight path through mental command alone, allowing her to ricochet them off of any surface, homing in on their target- from here, the laser(s) can swerve in mid-air to hit a target multiple times, doing so at the exact same speed as the original activation of the spell- when released in large clusters of lasers, each individual one can gather together and re-swerve with synchronized turns; even if the strength goes down, scattered is more powerful. Charlotte is also able to charge-up this technique to produce considerably more damage. An alternate method of enhancing her speed is to fire a Starbright Sparkray from each of her feet or her hands, sometimes all four limbs at once while pointing them in the opposite direction, enabling Charlotte to speed forward at light-speeds. While firing the Starbright Sparkray from both cupped hands is more dramatic, Charlotte can launch the spell single-handed as well, and in close-combat, she is shown to be capable of firing a single Starbright Sparkray from every punching motion that she makes, meaning that her rapid-fire punches possess astounding amounts of power. While almost nothing can properly defend against it, a Soul Armour's Ardor Field is capable of dissipating the photons and heat generated by the spell, and even without the forcefield, Soul Metal is quite resistant but not invulnerable. Meanwhile, Tsuruko Sejren, thanks to her composition of the hardest alloy in all four dimensions will just be knocked back a bit and receive a substantial amount of damage, but she is immune to its instant vaporization effect as she is, well, not flesh and blood.
  • CharlotteEtherliteDrill

Charlotte unleashing Photon Dragon's Glint Fist.

Photon Dragon's Glint Fist (光子竜の閃光拳, Kōshiryū no Senkōken): Photon Dragon's Glint Fist is a basic Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell that is the light-derived equivalent to other punching Dragon Slayer spells; effectively, Photon Dragon's Glint Fist allows the user to imbue their fist with light and strike forward with an ultra-fast punch that releases a fist-sized lightwave. When performing Photon Dragon's Glint Fist, the user activates the spell by going to the extremes of the 'magic = feelings' concept—by fueling their magic with positive feelings, the user is capable of initiating the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; resulting in them manifesting a mass of light. From here, the user shapes this light in the form of a sphere around their hand, giving off the resemblance of their fist simply becoming immersed in photonic energy, shining brightly as to illuminate the vicinity and cause those who gaze upon the user to look away out of fear of going blind. While Photon Dragon's Glint Fist is being formed, numerous wires of photonic energy constrict and tie themselves around her hand as to induce a swirling formation and encompass her hand, spiralling forwards and ending in a point, giving off the visage of a razor-thin drill composed completely of photonic wires orbiting her fist. Once this process has been completed, the user thrusts their fist forward, jabbing towards the enemy at a speed left unequalled, theorized by some to actually be the speed of light- it truly seems as if the user has used the photonic energies gathered upon their fist in order to extend their arm and strike their opponents at a longer range; the strike immediately reaches the opponent's body first, which from that perspective seems "zoomed in." The attack lets out blinding flash of light that sears the opponent upon impact, and the velocity that Photon Dragon's Glint Fist is cast is intense to a point that even the slightest of movements travel at speeds faster than anyone, even those with clairvoyance, cannot predict. Once the drill of light has been properly manifested, Charlotte is capable of utilizing it in any way that she deems suitable- more often than not, once the drill of photonic wires have been formed around her hand, she uses the imbued fist in order to launch countless piercing blows that tear through any and all types of defenses- the Photon Dragon's Glint Fist is known to possess immense slashing power if used in such a manner, and can pierce all sorts of defenses, whether they are natural or supernatural in nature, ranging from Magic to Curse-derived. Like an actual drill, the wires of light molded into this turning, piercing form act in a similar manner to that of a bedrock excavator, with two separate sections spinning in different directions as to not throw Charlotte's fist off from reaching its target. It is one of the user's most powerful blows; mostly because of it's "multi-hit" feature which doubles the damage as the light condensed upon their fist spreads out onto the opponent, swirling around them in a powerful spiral, creating a grinding drill effect that blasts into the opponent, inflicting major damage and launching them far away, creating an impact which is powerful enough to propel the unlucky recipient several meters away. The incredible speed both makes the strike far more powerful, and harder to dodge. The amount of time in which these actions transpire make it seem as if the opponent has been smashed with the force of a powerful cannon shell, blowing them away instantly. The Photon Dragon's Glint Fist can deflect both physical and supernatural-based attacks and attack at the same time, making it both an offensive and defensive technique. It is a very useful and impossibly powerful technique that can connect rapidly and accurately, which works well with her impressive speed and agile techniques. Upon contact with an enemy, the drilling wires of light instill their rapidly swirling properties onto an enemy, acting as a drill that shaves away at the bedrock, instantly grinding into the opponent with enough force to burst through many forms of enchanted armour and defensive methods while mincing a human's body and grinding up their internal organs, leaving naught but a gigantic hole in their stomach- the force of punching forward with this attack can occasionally release a tornado in its wake. The power of Photon Dragon's Glint Fist, when infused with Charlotte's fighting spirit, is enough to directly clash with Tsuruko's Rocket Punch Limit Break.
    • Photon Dragon's Scintilla (光子竜の寇砕拳(シンティラ), Kōshiryū no Shintira lit. Invader Crushing Fist; Scintilla also being the Italian and Latin word for "spark"): Photon Dragon's Scintilla is an extension of Photon Dragon's Glint Fist; upon contact with the opponent's body with the regular attack, it tears through clothing and blackens the struck area, attaching a complex Magic Seal which is mainly golden in texture and appears similar to that of a group of shining hexagons illuminated by light, all attached together to resemble a circle with a hole in the middle- this magic seal is referred to as the Stigma (閃烙印(スティグマ), Sutiguma lit. Flashing Brand); it is a mark of "absolute justice" which begins to sap the enemy's magical energy (or fighting spirit) on it and momentarily takes away the body's movement, thereby leaving the foe open to the Photon Dragon Slayer's subsequent attack; with a mental command, this shining glyph begins to emit countless streaks of light which cluster together upon the opponent, exploding several times to double the damage as the streaks of light swirl around the enemy's body in a spiralling motion, as the user's fist, which is still attached to the enemy's body, suddenly clenches and the user makes a slight punching motion resembling a one-inch-punch performed at a range of 0–15 cm (0–6 in), using explosive power to generate tremendous amounts of impact force at extremely close distances; the quick movement of the wrist produces the force needed, the wrist is held with the knuckles facing out on a horizontal axis, the wrist is then moved up and a strike is produced with the bottom two knuckles; this causes the photonic energy to blast into the opponent, inflicting major damage and launching them far away, creating an impact which is powerful enough to propel the unlucky recipient several meters away- to onlookers, the time spent casting this spell makes it appear as if the user has made a slight movement, pressing a seal upon the target's form- in the blink of an eye, the user's target and everything between their target and the user's fist simply gets a hole punched through it. The incredible speed both makes the strike far more powerful than a normal light-enhanced blow, and much harder to dodge. The amount of time in which these actions transpire make it seem as if the opponent has been kicked with the force of a powerful cannon shell, blowing them away instantly; effectively, from the moment of release, Photon Dragon's Scintilla simply pierces everything between the user's hand and the target, leaving its power unable to be blocked by any form of defense as a result- at its lowest power, the simple strike, discounting the Stigma is able to cause the opponent to flat-line. The user can increase the striking reach of their fist by 'charging up' by means of first repeatedly swinging their punching arm around before using the spinning force to both engulf the arm in light to its utmost limits, and as such, it is a spell that is suitable for regular combat and as a finishing move, and has different powerful variants as a result. If thrown, Photon Dragon's Scintilla also covers a lot of horizontal distance if launched like a projectile, allowing the user to strike an airborne opponent from several meters away, effectively grounding them instantly- upon contact, the Stigma fired at the enemy simply attaches itself and explodes instantly.
    • Photon Dragon's Meteor Fist (光子竜の流星拳, Kōshiryū no Ryūseiken): Photon Dragon's Meteor Fist is a Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell and a variant of Photon Dragon's Glint Fist where the caster launches countless punches per second, resembling a meteoric storm raining down upon the opponent. In any case, when performing Photon Dragon's Meteor Fist, the user activates the spell by going to the extremes of the 'magic = feelings' concept—by fueling their magic with positive feelings, the user is capable of initiating the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; resulting in them manifesting a mass of light. From here, the user shapes this light in the form of a sphere around their hand, giving off the resemblance of their fist simply becoming immersed in photonic energy, shining brightly as to illuminate the vicinity and cause those who gaze upon the user to look away out of fear of going blind. Once this process has been completed, the caster strikes forth with both of their arms rapidly at speeds beyond mortal comprehension, releasing innumerable punches that impact upon the enemy hundreds of times per second or even more as a user of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic can move at speeds reaching the speed of light, over a vast distance of ten kilometers. This vicious volley of blows, said to possess the power of a meteoric storm, smash into the frame of the user's helpless opponent, obliterating and eradicating their enemies without fail or mercy. At its highest levels, the spell is capable of parting the clouds. Photon Dragon's Meteor Fist is a very useful and impossibly powerful technique that can connect rapidly and accurately, which works well with the caster's impressive speed and agile techniques. Everything that is in the range of the caster is smashed to atoms like a bug, their feeble bodies shattered effortlessly even if they attempt to resist the radiant fury of light before them; the combination of the user's overwhelming strength and their law-defying speed makes this attack ever-the-more deadlier, as the user strikes at such a velocity with Photon Dragon's Meteor Fist that more often than not, their opponents don't even realize that they've landed a killing blow until they become aware of the fact.
  • Photon Eyeblast (光子竜の視破(フォトン・アイブラスト), Foton Aiburasuto lit. Photon Dragon's Optic Blast): Photon Eyeblast is a rather simple Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell which enables the caster do exactly as the name would suggest, to projecting powerful beams of concussive light from their eyes. In any case, when performing Photon Eyeblast, the caster focuses as much light as possible into their eyes, condensing it to the utmost limit as the user pinpoints a target with their sharp vision before unleashing the light from their pupils as two small, concentrated beams; one remains straight while the other coils around the straight beam. The resulting beam is quite powerful, drilling through most targets, and exploding on the ones it can't. The attack seems to possess highly destructive power, having caused great damage to the area it affected, destroying the ground and piercing through buildings alike, and appears to have a long range; the trajectory can be altered, allowing the caster to strike more than one opponent. This technique, as small it is, has immense power. For one, it can cause immense impact or knockback damage and can penetrate the foe's body. However, if the caster wishes, they can make the beam stun the opponents and affect their vital organs and their magic container, leaving them motionless but alive. Also, it can be used as a harmless search laser, able to lock onto targets and keep track of them. These particles generate great, directional concussive force when they interact with the objects of this universe. However, when directly compared to the other spells of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, Photon Eyeblast is rather lacking for a lack of a better word, and is usually used just to get an enemy's attention or deflect projectiles. Charlotte can increase the frequency of Photon Eyeblast, significantly ramping up its power to the point that doing so can enable the blast to tear through the atmosphere or blow back enemy spells, smashing through buildings and breaching enemy defenses in the blink of an eye.
  • Accellight (光子竜の光速瞬動(アクセルライト), Akuseruraito lit. Photon Dragon's Light-Speed Instant Movement Technique): Accellight, also known as the Wings of Light (光の翼, Hikari no Tsubasa), is a supplementary Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell which grants the user the ability to move at unimaginable velocities, zipping around in the air at incredible speeds; waltzing around without any hindrances. When performing Accellight, the user charges their body in photonic energy, before using their mastery over light to defy gravity by eliminating their own weight, allowing them to stay aloft in mid-air for undefined periods. At that point, by utilizing expert magical manipulation as a small "push", the user can take off at high speed with perfect timing, so the user could remain flying in the same place without any thought. When in motion while using Accellight, the user manifests a ring of light upon their back which captures the winds with its thin curtain of magical particles, propelling the user and allowing them to build up speed over time as they dart through the air. Accellight, as the name would indicate, enables the user to move at a speed that nobody else can comprehend; all the user is required to do is utilize magical manipulation to serve as a kick-off point; granting them "true flight", moving throughout the air as free as a bird, or rather, in a "deeper" term, like a plastic bag in the wind. In any case, Accellight drastically augments their movements with the power of light, allowing them to fly swiftly, or even shoot up vertical surfaces; moving dozens upon dozens of times faster than somebody using any form of high-speed movement spells while maintaining flight for extremely long periods of time. The speed and after-images granted by Accellight allow the user to effectively dodge all sorts of multi-directional attacks. Activating this attack causes a slip stream of light effect that allows the user to achieve speeds normally impossible them in any location. By charging the particles with magical energy this allows the user an additional defensive measure as well as immense propulsion. Even if someone could detect the trajectory of their movements, it is considered to be nearly impossible to catch the user, as with their speed, the user is capable of assaulting their opponents with quick, but powerful, melee attacks. The user's speed appears to create up to eight doubles of themselves while in motion. These doubles are not illusory; they are moving at a speed between different positions that is vastly faster than the speed of sound. As such, were all the doubles to attack at once, it would mean that the user is attacking from all those positions simultaneously, giving them incredible destructive power. Similarly, because of this same speed, attacking the doubles would be futile as the user would have moved long before the attack even reaches them. The user can also enhance their already swift flight speed by riding on strong gusts of wind, and can slow or deflect falls by creating cushions of air. When used in the heat of battle, Accellight causes the user to appear as if they are simply flowing around their opponents without expending any energy at all, letting the opponent tire themselves out and thus creating exploitable openings. This conservation of energy, combined with their high stamina, gives the user an advantage in prolonged combat. Following Issac Newton's first law of motion, the user will accelerate indefinitely as long as they keep moving.
  • Vanishing Counter (光子竜の魔力消失迎撃(バニシング・カウンター), Banishingu Kauntā lit. Photon Dragon's Magical Energy Disappearance Counterattack): Vanishing Counter is a defensive-offensive type Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell which enables the caster to prepare for an incoming attack while gathering photons before vanishing upon impact and reappearing behind the enemy, striking with a powerful kick- Vanishing Counter is exclusive to Charlotte Merquise. When performing Vanishing Counter, Charlotte gathers her magical energies while activating Photon Dragon Slayer Magic by going to the extremes of the 'magic = feelings' concept—by fueling her magic with positive feelings, she is capable of initiating the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; resulting in Charlotte manifesting a mass of light which shrouds her entire body. Performing a defensive tai chi-like stance in a split second, she waits for the impact of her opponent's attack. Upon the contact of the enemy's strike with Charlotte's body, the light which engulfed her frame begins to go to work by reducing her body to elementary particles, transforming into and moving at the speed of light behind the enemy as she is instantaneously reassembled in said location, literally teleporting. At this point, Charlotte, now behind her opponent, strikes with a powerful sliding kick that deals moderate amounts of damage and can knock the opponent into the air instantly. When compared to most other counter-type spells, Vanishing Counter has the longest window of retaliating, being a few seconds in length, and the return strike comes out the swiftest due to Charlotte transforming into light, teleporting behind the enemy, and striking. When compared to other forms of counterattacking spells, Vanishing Counter is notably different in that it does not change power depending on the countered attack; rather, it does a constant attack no matter what moves it counters. One of the most interesting features of Vanishing Counter is that when in the process of evading and teleporting behind the enemy, as Charlotte has transformed her entire body into light, she is effectively intangible and leaves her unaffected even by attacks that cannot be countered. Additionally, if Charlotte is hit during the process of Vanishing Counter, like other forms of Counter, she will not flinch and simply complete the process- though she will still receive damage; she actually strikes the location around where she was hit, just like regular forms of Counter do. If Vanishing Counter is used on a ranged attack or an attack that causes its user to move quickly, Charlotte will most likely miss with her counter attack.
  • Photon Tensegrity (光子竜の光波防御帯(フォトン・テンセグリティー), Foton Tenseguritī lit. Photon Dragon's Lightwave Barrier): Photon Tensegrity is a Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell which enables the user to cast a barrier of light to surround themselves that can reflect attacks. When scattered in the air, the repulsive forces between the photons generated through this magic cause them to spontaneously align; which the user can form, with magical manipulation, into a regular cubic lattice structure; this is referred to Photon Tensegrity, which will slowly expand and scatter into the area. When photon particles are spread in large numbers in the open air or in open space, the particles disrupt metal. The photons also interferes with the operations of magic items due to the photon particles high charge which act like a continuous electromagnetic pulse on metal objects. The disruption of metal is due to the small lattice of the spell creating fringes that long wavelengths cannot penetrate, and that diffract wavelengths that have similar distance with the fringes. This diffraction and polarization process disrupts the alloys. If controlled, the particles can form fringes of different widths and further interfere with alloys and machinery. Photon Tensegrity forms an invisible barrier around the user, protecting them from incoming magical attacks letting only a fraction of the magical force behind them pass through to strike their body; at which point the attack is immediately nullified- the energies gathered, and then focused into the next step. This spell is not a perfect defense, as it can be worn down by repeated blows, or can be broken by a spell as a prelude to an attack. In addition, some people are capable of breaking or bypassing barriers altogether. However, this barrier's defensive properties have no effect against solid objects like swords and projectiles, and magic can still be used at point blank range within the barrier's boundary; very little is known about the limits of its defensive power, though it possesses a rather immense duration and durability, functioning as a shell of sorts, with the intensity of the light emitted by the Photon Tensegrity having the psychological effect of causing enemies to hesitate to attack them. However, the Photon Tensegrity is difficult to use has it can only manipulate so many photon particles at a time and it required precise timing; and, despite being far more advanced than any other barrier, it still suffers from magical draining. The barrier can only be used for a total of one hundred and five seconds and requires one hundred and twenty seconds to cool down. If the user has no other defensive measures this leaves a window of fifteen seconds where they have no defense against attacks.
    • Shining Diffusion (光波防御帯・反射公式(シャイニング・ディフュージョン), Shainingu Difuyūjon lit. Lightwave Barrier: Refraction Formula): Shining Diffusion is the second step of Photon Tensegrity- it is completely optional, but it certainly adds to what Photon Tensegrity can do. Shining Diffusion is effectively turning the immense defensive power of Photon Tensegrity into an overwhelming offense which brings indiscriminate amounts of destruction to anything near the caster. In any case, when inducing Shining Diffusion, at the moment of an opposing attack(s)' impact upon the shield manifested by Photon Tensegrity, the shield gathers and dissects the energies that splashed upon the spell before the user harnesses the effect known as refraction in order to deflect all sorts of attacks as to ensure that it fails to connect with the user and thus does not inflict damage, reversing the opponent's attack, whether it be close-range or projectile, upon them, returning it to sender, causing the user to retaliate in any way that they wish as well. If the attack is a projectile, it will simply be deflected behind them and upwards at about a thirty degree angle. It's worth noting explosive projectiles can still explode and will still do damage if they are struck when the Shining Diffusion dissipates. If the attack is a powerful spell such as a Secret Art, then the attacker will be knocked back at a ninety degree angle. The process involved seems to occur with such severity that the attacks appear to curve around the affected area, as though the object in question were protected by an invisible barrier/shield immediately in front of it. When reflected by Shining Diffusion, the reversed attacks can even penetrate other barriers of any kind- these are not limited to the simple Defenser, indeed, they can possibly penetrate Ancient Spell-tier magics such as Fairy Sphere. The user is able to surpass any reflecting power by reflecting back the spell they had cast from all of their opponent's sides; and they are capable of reducing by refracting the range of many magics, even some which notable in their ability to nullify any other form of Magic, and then assaulting the enemy. This technique is inspired by the processes of refraction and dispersion involved in the formation of a rainbow.

    Charlotte preparing Stellar Circle 5.

Stellar Circle 5 (光子竜の悪循環の星渦中(ストラ・サークル・5), Sutora Sākuru Faibu lit. Photon Dragon's Starry Maelstrom of the Vicious Circle): Stellar Circle 5 is a Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell which enables the user to project a sigil in any location that they deem suitable before summoning a small gale made up of microscopic blades of compressed light pressure, mincing an opponent near instantly. When performing Stellar Circle 5, the user activates the spell by going to the extremes of the 'magic = feelings' concept—by fueling their magic with positive feelings, the user is capable of initiating the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; resulting in them manifesting a mass of light. From here, the user snaps their fingers in the desired location, forming a Magic Seal of a golden texture that appears similar to that of a large circular grid of hexagons; the mere presence of this sigil causes multiple streams of winds to converge at a singular point before the user harnesses Photonize in order to transform these winds into light, resulting in an ear-piercing screeching noise that echoes through the air as these gales circle the Magic Seal, leaving a golden aura trail- the resulting slipstream creates a tornado effect that forms an golden cyclonic vortex of light in the immediate area, all focused on a singular location- that of where the caster directed the Magic Seal to manifest itself. The vortex of light spins around the Magic Seal at speeds invisible to the human eye- indeed, the individual currents of golden swirling around the sigil are actually microscopic blades of light similar to those generated by Sword Pressure- the sheer number of these light-cutters are to the point that not even those with the sharpest of eyesight are capable of properly counting them all. Anything that just so happens to be in the epicenter of this maelstrom of absolute annihilation is laid bare before the vicious onslaught of pressurized light blades, which slice at them endlessly- it cannot be said that one or ten edges impact upon the target's form for every second that passes, but rather, millions perform such a feat- these wind blades are sharper than actual metallic swords, and they cut so deeply that they are capable of causing damage on a cellular level, cutting off the Magic Pathways and removing the methods of casting spells from the user's existence. This spell lasts ten seconds before the lights disperse and the Magic Seal fades. Stellar Circle 5 is similar to Photon Dragon's Scintilla in that it can be used as a projectile that covers a lot of horizontal distance if launched like a projectile, allowing the user to strike an airborne opponent from several meters away, effectively grounding them instantly- upon contact, the seal fired at the enemy simply attaches itself and exposes them to countless slices of light instantly.
  • Double Chaser (光子竜の交迷幻夢(ダブル・チェイサー), Daburu Cheisā lit. Photon Dragon's Shifting Phantasm): Double Chaser is a powerful Photon Dragon Slayer Magic which enables the caster to make illusionary duplicates of themselves. When performing Double Chaser, the user intensifies their light, releasing a burst of pure photonic energy that covers the immediate vicinity for the smallest of moment- the sheer amount of light unleashed causes a shift in the atmosphere, causing illusions all around. When the light settles in a matter of seconds, anyone in the area will see two or more doubles of the caster- this is because Double Chaser is an all-around illusion-casting spell that affects the area around the user, blurring the light in the area so that everyone will see double. Generally, the illusions manifested by Double Chaser are completely indistinguishable from the real thing to the naked eye and simple sensory-type magic, though those who have dealt with illusionists before can distinguish the two. While it is possible to manifest more than simple copies of the user and perhaps their allies, it is the easiest to perform. The user can also use Double Chaser in conjunction with their spells and attacks, allowing them to mix up the fake with the real, allowing them to hold up enemies and create greater opportunities to launch their own attacks, causing feints of a sort to distract the opponent from the real deal. However, Charlotte's utilization of Double Chaser has progressed to the point that by infusing the illusions with more of their magical energy, she can control them mentally- though she's required to stand still and direct them so that she won't lose focus. The realized illusions manifested through Double Chaser are capable of performing any of Charlotte's spells, including Double Chaser once more in order to double the amount of copies that Charlotte has summoned in the heat of battle- however, by doing so, the clones drain magical energy from Charlotte's own Magic Origin. To add to the deception pulled over the eyes of her enemies, these duplicates can bleed after being struck- though they will scatter into photons if attacked by a sufficiently strong force; but before they do that, Charlotte can disperse them by will alone in order to gain back any of her magical power that they had used in their brief moments of 'life'; generally, they're so lifelike that it's near impossible to distinguish Charlotte's Double Chaser clones from the real deal. Upon contact with the opponent, this iteration of Double Chaser causes the illusions to explode in a burst of light. Even so, Double Chaser requires a considerable amount of mental focus in order to continue stabilizing the illusions, even moreso per fake manifested, making it extremely difficult to sustain for longer than a few seconds per spell cast, though it does not cost much magical energy.
    • Cipher Projection (光子竜の交迷幻夢・双龍降臨(サイファー・プロジェクション), Saifā Purojekushon lit. Photon Dragon's Shifting Phantasm: Advent of the Twin Dragons): Cipher Projection is a sub-spell of Double Chaser, and Charlotte's signature method of harnessing the replication powers of the former. When performing Cipher Projection, Charlotte utilizes Photonize on anything within the vicinity in order to convert it into light before using Cipher Projection upon that mass of photons, transforming it into a perfect copy which takes upon a proper corporeality, effectively making it a 'true' clone of sorts. This particular Cipher Projection clone possesses all the same powers and abilities of the regular Charlotte, with the skills and knowledge necessary to use these powers to the same level as the original. This clone derives its energy output independent from Charlotte's own, meaning that the only reason that it drains her magical energy is keeping it sustained; indeed, because it is such a flawless replica, it can only remain in the physical realm for a few moments; otherwise, Charlotte's magical reserves will take a nasty hit and she will run out of energies to keep her going after five seconds of keeping the replication of herself materialized. It can be said to be a variant of Living Magic in that it creates a living, breathing being- though of course, it is a flawed result, as the Cipher Projection replica only lasts for five seconds. In any case, once Cipher Projection has manifested this perfect clone, the duplicate initiates Dragonar Mode alongside Charlotte, with both of them transforming into Blazer Dragoon- both of them gain the same amount of energy output and power, but any secondary effects of what is about to commence are negated in favour of pure power- but not only that, keeping both the power and the effect of the next attack for both her and her clone would likely drain Charlotte of all of her energies; now in their dragon-man forms, both Charlotte and her replica launch either a Photonic Pulsar or a Cipher Pulsar attack at their enemy, both waves of light bombarding her opponent from seemingly countless directions- they can be launched while both Charlotte and her clone flank the enemy's sides to prevent escape while keeping them stuck in the middle of colliding principles due to Photon and Cipher being polar opposites or side-by-side to expose the enemy to dual forces of matter light and antimatter light at once- however, both Charlotte and her duplicate can simply launch the same spell as to strike the adversary with double the power. In any case, once the attack has been unleashed, the clone forged through Cipher Projection fades into photonic energy and Charlotte can resume battle as normal.
      • Cipher Projection: Dragon Four-mation (双龍降臨・四動力(サイファー・プロジェクション・ドラゴン・フォーメーション), Saifā Purojekushon: Doragon Fōmēshon lit. Advent of the Twin Dragons: The Dynamic Force of Four): Cipher Projection: Dragon Four-mation is an improved variant of Cipher Projection that Charlotte can perform after extensive amounts of training which, as the name would suggest, allows Charlotte to summon three fully-fledged clones now that she has amassed enough magical energy and stamina to maintain more than a single duplicate. With four dragon-men out on the field, Charlotte can then perform all of her finishing attacks at once, or have the three replications assist her in one of her other attacks- heck, they can strike and perform all sorts of actions on their own, keeping the opponent constantly on their toes as they now have to deal with four powerful enemies at once. Once all three clones are in battlefield, by surging her fighting spirit, Charlotte combine the duplicates with herself, gaining all of their energies and overloading her Magic Origin while her naturally immense Ardor levels allow her to stabilize this influx of magical energy, allowing her to achieve Dragoascension in the middle of battle- as she is only half-dragon, Charlotte can only transform into her Dragoascension form through this method.
Photonic Forge Spells
  • Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo (偽性・光の造形魔法・光子竜の天叢雲剣(フォトニック・フォージ・アメ・ノ・ムラクモ), Fotonikku Fōji: Ame no Murakumo lit. Pseudo-Light Molding Magic: Photon Dragon's Heavenly Autumn Cloudy Blade): Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo is a Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell and the main Photonic Forge line spell; it enables Charlotte to form a sword that is made of pure photonic energy. When performing Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo, Charlotte activates Photonic Forge by going to the extremes of the 'magic = feelings' concept—by fueling her magic with positive feelings, Charlotte initiates the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; drawing from the inner feelings of the humanity to purify the world off all its evils and mistakes, like a beacon of hope. From here, Charlotte uses her imagination in order to mold the light created into the form of a double-edged sword forged completely from light, meaning that it does not possess a solid form; Ame no Murakumo is used exclusively for melee combat. With its long, spear-like handle and even longer double-edged blade, the design of the Ame no Murakumo was made to take down enemies in a single swing, but due to its unwieldy size and a weight decidedly greater than any other sword, it is said that no one has even been able to brandish this unusual blade to its full capacity. Its full length is nearly twice Charlotte's height and a blade several times wider than normal. Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo is so deadly precisely because it's capable of being utilized in countless ways- it's almost mesmerizing that somebody can get so much mileage out of a simple sword of light. Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo can take the form of any type of sword formed from light, such as a regular sword and alter its properties to transform it into another version, such as a rapier or katana. In any form, Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo is capable of slicing through magical barriers, and its slashes are capable of trailing large amounts of waves of light in its wake, which can damage the opponent. The moment that the weapon makes contact with the foe via impaling them, the composition of the weapon is altered to cause additional, smaller blades to protrude from the blade inside of the foe's body, drastically increasing the number of wounds dealt to the foe. The weapon itself can endure even the strongest of attacks, making it quite effective in blocking and deflecting incoming attacks; and it can withstand getting crushed by force. The armament is strong and sharp enough to cut clean through pure metal weapons as well; the power of Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo is capable of inflicting a deep cut into the opponent's body, even if they had erected a magical defense beforehand, severely damaging them- it can defeat an Etherious compared to a Guild Ace in power in a single strike. In Charlotte's Dragoascension, Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo is constantly activated, taking the form of the blades that extends from her bracelets; they can enhance her own close-combat blows, as even though they are mounted in such a manner, they lose none of their special properties. The power of Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo is enough to clash evenly with Tsuruko/Gaiki's Blazefire Edge manifested from her Ardor Flame.
    • Ame no Murakumo: Habakiri (光子竜の天叢雲剣・白夜殲滅剣(アメ・ノ・ムラクモ・ハバキリ), Ame no Murakumo: Habakiri lit. Photon Dragon's Heavenly Autumn Cloudy Blade: White Night Annihilation Sword): Ame no Murakumo: Habakiri is an extension of the regular Ame no Murakumo; when initiating Ame no Murakumo: Habakiri, Charlotte focuses the Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo, gathering the entire amount of her magical energy and focusing into the blade of her sword—gathering and converging, the sheer amount of magical power stored within the Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo results in it glowing brilliantly, illuminating the immediate vicinity, even if it was never night in the first place. The magical energy gathered, when Charlotte surges her fighting spirit, the blade of Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo extends upwards to reach over ten feet in length; or even more up to one hundred feet in length, all depending on how much magical energy Charlotte is in possession of; this enormous blade can extend at great distances to cut down large objects like satellite weapons and flying menaces. The weapon of light known as Ame no Murakumo is seen to be in two "parts", with the bottom part becoming pure magical energy and the second half highly resembling a feather. From there, gripping the sword with both of her hands, Charlotte swings the sword forward, unleashing that condensed magical energy in the form of a powerful slash which obliterates anything that it comes into contact with, dealing a single strike of massive damage. The power of Ame no Murakumo: Habakiri is so immense that it releases an energy that is so overwhelming, it is near impossible to describe to onlookers; nor can it be conveyed properly. This attack relies on indiscriminate targeting to track down the opponent's magical energy. When opposing an attack of similar power, it will not only double or multiply, but increase infinitely. This move creates a large, impressive explosion on contact, which leaves the user unharmed, but is lethal to the target, essentially reducing them to atoms at it's strongest point.
    • Murakumo: Binding Formation (雲剣・光の護封剣(バインディング・フォーメーション), Murakumo: Baindeingu Fōmēshon lit. Cloudy Blade: Protective Sealing Swords of Light): Murakumo: Binding Formation is an extension of the regular Ame no Murakumo; when performing Murakumo: Binding Formation, it is triggered by going by the opposite of the 'magic = feelings' concept—by fueling her magic with positive feelings, Charlotte is capable of initiating the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; drawing from the inner feelings of the humanity to purify the world off all its evils and mistakes, like a beacon of hope; this generates an immense amount of light within her hands and her Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo blade in her other hand begins to shine brilliantly before she stabs the shining sword into the barren earth —this sends the light into the barren earth; as it tracks the opponents down and forms circles of light beneath their feet momentarily—locking on to her foes, Charlotte snaps her fingers, causing the light beneath the ground to erupt in an enormous veil of gold shaped like a blade that reaches the sky; constricting and whirling around the foe as to trap them in the light. The spell is designed to slow their opponent down and make it difficult to inflict damage or even to attack. Just utilizing Murakumo: Binding Formation not a way to win by itself; it is usually used as a means to an end; and due to their several other healing spells and offensive attacks, Charlotte will definitely benefit from this strategy; being able to protect herself from both attacks and damage. The power of Murakumo: Binding Formation can stop attacks for a few minutes, to locking their opponent down as long as they are on the field—however, it takes a fair while to regain the magical energy drained from this spell, and Charlotte could possibly only utilize it four-five times before she had exhausted herself from her magical power.
  • Photonic Forge: Dragolance Smasher (偽性・光の造形魔法・光子竜の方天戟(フォトニック・フォージ・ドラゴランス・スマッシャー), Fotonikku Fōji: Doragoransu Sumasshā lit. Pseudo-Light Molding Magic: Photon Dragon's Heavenward Halberd): Photonic Forge: Dragolance Smasher is a Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell and the secondary main Photonic Forge line spell; it enables her to form a spear that is made of pure photonic energy. When performing Photonic Forge: Dragolance Smasher, the wind flowing through the area focuses on one point one hundred meters above Charlotte's head. When the raging wind gathers there, a bright white light appears as if from naught; these are the photons which Charlotte has manifested through Photon Dragon Slayer Magic's Photonize ability; when manifesting these photons, Charlotte raises one (or both) of her hands in the air at her side, generating a large amount of photons between her open, facing palms at a relatively swift rate. It should be noted that in order for a stronger spear to form, she can use both hands and/or condense more magical power upon her palms. The generated photons are rapidly shaped into the form of a massive spear composed of pure light, which Charlotte proceeds to hurl at the enemy. When thrown, it produces a massive blast of photonic energy that spirals out from the epicenter of the point where the spear impacted; forming into a wavy circle of pure light that smashes through the target. Essentially, it functions in a similar manner to that of a drill—grinding through anything that the spear comes into contact with, before exploding into said blast. If Charlotte so wishes it, the Photonic Forge: Dragolance Smasher is capable of homing upon an opponent, dodging many an obstacle until it reaches Charlotte's intended target; however, most of the time, the spell smashes through anything that it touches until it reaches the target. Nevertheless, the Photonic Forge: Dragolance Smasher is capable of causing large-scale damage and destruction with relative ease—essentially, as it moves, everything about ten meters on both sides of the spear will be reduced to ashes –with the exception of objects or people using high-tier defense spells or humans- through the sheer photonic energy that the spear is composed of. While it can be defended against by high-tier shielding spells, continuous attacks can bypass the shields, eventually leaving the opponent open to being struck by the spell. In addition, the Photonic Forge: Dragolance Smasher moves at such a fast pace that even users of High Speed or Slowing Magic would have extreme difficulty in avoiding the spell; indeed, the attack seems to be unaffected by "terrain-effecting" or "body enhancement" magics or spells. The Photonic Forge: Dragolance Smasher can be launched in any position, from being airborne to while running. Launching it while airborne however increases its damage radius. Noticeably, Charlotte is capable of utilizing Photonic Forge: Dragolance Smasher in a similar manner to that of a completely ordinary spear—if this is done, then the spell will have far greater power than almost any other spear. The sheer heat radiating from the attack has enough force to cut through solid steel and even pierce through a magical barrier. This attack is powerful enough to stop the Seiken-Zuki performed by an assimilated Tsuruko/Gaiki.
  • Photonic Forge: Ama no Habaya (偽性・光の造形魔法・光子竜の燦ノ破弓矢(フォトニック・フォージ・アマ・ノ・ハバヤ), Fotonikku Fōji: Ama no Habaya lit. Pseudo-Light Molding Magic: Photon Dragon's Radiant Destructive Bow and Arrow): Photonic Forge: Ama no Habaya, also referred to as the "Arrow of Light" (光の矢, Hikari no Ya), is a Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell and a Photonic Forge line spell; it enables Charlotte to form a golden arrow of immense power that is made of pure photonic energy, completely disregarding the need for a bow unlike other 'bow and arrow' molder spells. When performing Photonic Forge: Ama no Habaya, Charlotte activates Photonic Forge by going to the extremes of the 'magic = feelings' concept—by fueling her magic with positive feelings, Charlotte initiates the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; drawing from the inner feelings of the humanity to purify the world off all its evils and mistakes, like a beacon of hope. From here, Charlotte uses her imagination in order to mold the light created into the form of an extravagant lightning arrow-head-shaped bolt forged completely from light, meaning that it does not possess a solid form; this arrow held in her hands, shines to the point that it causes those in the vicinity to avert their eyes. When manifesting the arrow, any characters in Charlotte's line of sight will flinch; Charlotte then launches the arrow at her enemy. When the blast lands, it blows the opponents away with tremendous speed and force; blasting through everything in it's path in order to assault the opponent ferociously as the arrow sends the opponents flying at a semi-spike angle, inducing tremendous knockback from which it is difficult to recover. The move goes through walls. The spell can hit a maximum of six targets at once but the damage and knockback weaken for each target hit; thus if used on many opponents, it may not destroy the ones in the back, even if the foes are still suffering from harm. This attack goes through any and all defenses, and at extreme distances it does slightly less damage. If the opponents are too close together, they may collide with each other and prevent immense damaging from happening. The attack seems to possess highly destructive power, having caused great damage to the area it affected, destroying the ground and piercing through buildings alike, and appears to have a long range, wreaking havoc wherever it passes, as shown when it crossed the entire distance of Hargeon, generating a large explosion. The trajectory of the arrow can be altered, allowing Charlotte to strike more than one opponent. Charlotte can change the direction the arrow will go while holding it; backwards, forwards, and upwards. Charlotte's shining arrows move much more quickly than other character's arrows, and can be controlled in midair. Charlotte is not able to hold the blast indefinitely in normal use; however, if she keeps changing the direction the arrow will be released, she can hold onto it for a while. The golden arrows can actually be curved around in a full circle if controlled properly and thus avoid veering off somewhat else. As Photonic Forge: Ama no Habaya is a quick-hitting, high-power spell, it could be considered to be the most accurate metaphor for Charlotte's fighting style. Crux Kouga's signature "Eight Shaku Curved Jewel" spell is derived from Photonic Forge: Ama no Habaya.

Charlotte using Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama in order to deflect a barrage of gemstones.

Pseudo-Light Molding Magic: Photon Dragon's Endless Razor-Sharp Wire-Chains): Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama is a Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell and a Photonic Forge line spell; it grants the caster the ability to generate and manipulate wires (yes, not chains, despite the name) composed out of light of absurd powers in any way that they see fit. Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama itself was originally intended as a substitute nervous system for use by surgeons, so it can substitute destroyed nerves, though its original use has been perverted to serve as an amazing combat spell. When performing Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama, the caster focuses for the briefest of moments, pulsing the magical energies dwelling within their Magic Origin outwards into the immediate area in order to interact with the eternano that's saturated throughout the atmosphere, thus starting up the mainstay magical energy + eternano fusion, this portion of the sequence enables the user to tap into alchemic theory, which is a philosophical and protoscientific tradition that aimed to purify, mature, and perfect certain objects into its mechanics as a major proponent of the sequence as they utilize their willpower as well as their Magical Aura surging outwards from their body in order to harness the principles of convergence, with the caster inducing the activation sequence of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, taking the concept of magic equaling the feelings of the magician to its absolute zenith – fuelling the fused energies with positive emotions, this results in the transmogrification of their arcane powers into photons, which are particles which transmit light that are also an elementary particle that serve as their own antiparticle, and by extension light, a type of energy considered to be a form of electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength which can be detected by the human eye, as light is carried over space by photons; this sequence draws from the inner feelings of the humanity to purify the world off all its evils and mistakes, like a beacon of hope; thus, the energies that are produced by Photon Dragon Slayer Magic are only light and benevolent in nature; during this process, the caster projects their Magic Seal outwards while envisioning the creation of their choice and drawing power from the atmosphere; the caster's magical energies flow from their own body and entwine themselves with everything else put into action through the activation sequence, resonating visually as a pulse of golden energy as the desired creation spawns from the glyph of energy accompanied by a swirling windstorm of light - what emerges are a multitude of wires that are forged completely from light, wires are known to be pliable strands or rods forged in countless lengths and diameters, more often than not electrically insulated, and used chiefly for structural support or to conduct electricity- these wires are known to be in all shapes and sizes, while their composition varies on what the user wishes to do with them, meaning that the mere existence of Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama in the heat of battle can keep the opponent guessing as to what properties the wires will display. Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama is a rather strange spell- while one normally wouldn't consider "the ability to manipulate wires" overpowered, it could be said that the mere existence of the magic could prove such an assumption dead wrong. Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama is unique in that while it is technically the same thing as its parent magics, Photon Dragon Slayer Magic and Wire Magic, the degree to which Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama shows such power and versatility effectively means that it could be considered a proper evolution of Wire Magic, similar to the age-old theory thought up just now to have a comparison hold weight that Slayer Magic was an evolution of Elemental Magic. Generally, when harnessing Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama, the wires will shoot from the user's palms or fingertips, giving off the visage of a puppeteer controlling a play; and to be completely fair, considering what happens in the arc that displays the magic, it could be an apt comparison. While it is indeed a given that the wires produced by Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama vary considerably as they are dependent upon the caster's magical energy and their imagination, generally Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama constantly has the properties of piano wire or monomolecular wire; meaning that every wire produced by the user has absolutely immense slicing power, at least akin to an Eternano Saber, which are capable of slicing through almost any type of alloy due to producing a superheated magical aura that works similarly to how plasma reacts on solids; they can slice through human bodies and buildings alike as if they were composed of wet rice paper. No matter the form, the wires made manifest by Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama are known to possess truly mind-boggling durability and tensile strength that very few things and people can slice or even damage them- it was shown in a brief skirmish that Leanne Rockwell's Orion's Sword Heavenly Body Magic spell was incapable of even cutting them by half a millimeter. The wires generated through Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama are capable of wrapping around and attaching to supposedly any form of surface, so long as it is not a liquid; for example, a user could perhaps wrap the wires of Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama around the clouds in order to hoist themselves upwards before swinging to another cloud and repeat the process for quick transportation; they can also bundle and compress the wires in order to shape them into a variety of shapes and forms, such as ropes which double as whips, webs, bullets, and an arm drill. As mentioned above, the wires of Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama have outstanding parameters, allowing a user to perform feats such as wrapping then pulling things or bringing them closer, binding their opponents, scaring/lashing opponents, binding then snatching others weapons, swinging from high altitudes and slicing the flesh of their enemies when striking at great speed- all of this without hurting themselves. It is said that they have no actual limit to how long the wires of Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama can expand, seemingly chasing the user's enemy to the very ends of the earth, making impossible maneuvers such as travelling underground in order to catch up to their foe. It should be taken into consideration that because of the fact that wires are generally so thin that they could be considered invisible, this makes it almost impossible to see the wires generated by this magic by the untrained eye, making it extremely difficult to avoid their path, which, when coupled with their speed and strength, makes Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama a deadly combination. The longer that the wires of Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama are deployed in the current plane of the existence, the stronger they become- it is known that for every second in flight, the wires gather and compress more eternano saturated within the atmosphere in order to bolster their speed, power, and versatility a hundredfold. Of course, therein also lies an extremely useful ability- the wires of Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama are capable of performing an impromptu emergency surgery by stitching wounds and organs if the user is heavily injured, allowing them to stand up as good as new after a while- however, a the wires of Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama need to be continuously renewed for the healing to last. Besides restraining enemies and even controlling other people's bodies against their will, or triggering traps, they can be pretty handy for cutting; a skilled user can use strings to cut opponents or even boulders, without hurting themselves. The wires generated by Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama can also be inserted into people's nervous systems to allow the user such abilities as reading their thoughts and controlling their bodies like puppets. It should be noted that since Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama is a variant of alchemy, then they would be able to apply the process of "creating something from something else" to the wires manifested by this magic, resulting in Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama gaining the ability to transmute anything they deem suitable in the surrounding environment into more wires –not limited to, but including the ground, buildings, forests, and vehicles- which they can then direct as if they were part of Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama all along. This power of this spell is as such that a user such as Charlotte Merquise is capable of completely and instantaneously constricting extremely powerful fighters such as Leanne Rockwell, a member of the Ten Wizard Saints as well as Kinos Sejren, keeping her victims suspended in mid-air while removing any and every chance for them to struggle against the Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama. Tsuruko Sejren is the first person to display immunity to this spell- she simply overpowered the bodily control of the Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama by summoning her Zero Blades- the sheer presence of them being released from her soul caused the parasitic wires to snap off of her body.

      Charlotte unleashing Extension: Chain Slasher.

Extension: Chain Slasher (追加攻撃・綿剃刀線鎖・悪流・五重殲陣(エクステンション・チェーン・スラッシャー), Ekusutenshon: Chēn Surasshā lit. Additional Attack: Endless Razor-Sharp Wire-Chains – Malefic-Style: Fivefold Massacring Encampment): Extension: Chain Slasher is the name of a powerful extension of Photonic Forge: Yasakani no Magatama which is exclusive to Charlotte Merquise- it enables her to slash an opponent with five wires trailing from her hand. When beginning to perform Extension: Chain Slasher, Charlotte focuses her magical energies intently, pulsing the magical energies dwelling within their Magic Origin outwards into the immediate area in order to interact with the eternano that's saturated throughout the atmosphere, thus starting up the mainstay magical energy + eternano fusion, this portion of the sequence enables the user to tap into alchemic theory, which is a philosophical and protoscientific tradition that aimed to purify, mature, and perfect certain objects into its mechanics as a major proponent of the sequence as they utilize their willpower as well as their Magical Aura surging outwards from their body in order to harness the principles of convergence, with the caster inducing the activation sequence of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, taking the concept of magic equaling the feelings of the magician to its absolute zenith – fuelling the fused energies with positive emotions, this results in the transmogrification of their arcane powers into photons, which are particles which transmit light that are also an elementary particle that serve as their own antiparticle, and by extension light, a type of energy considered to be a form of electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength which can be detected by the human eye, as light is carried over space by photons; this sequence draws from the inner feelings of the humanity to purify the world off all its evils and mistakes, like a beacon of hope; thus, the energies that are produced by Photon Dragon Slayer Magic are only light and benevolent in nature; during this process, the caster projects their Magic Seal outwards while envisioning the creation of their choice and drawing power from the atmosphere; the caster's magical energies flow from their own body and entwine themselves with everything else put into action through the activation sequence, resonating visually as a pulse of golden energy as the desired creation spawns from the glyph of energy accompanied by a swirling windstorm of light, becoming razor-thin wires which extent swiftly from her fingers- these wires are as malleable as strings, and they constantly pulsate red and black, tainted by her hatred for the one her "sold her out" to the Magic Council in her childhood. Once the wires of revenge have been solidified, spawning from her malicious fingers, Charlotte then begins to direct them with swiping motions at high speeds towards anything that would prove a suitable target. Because of the composition of the wires generated by this spell, Charlotte more often than not uses Extension: Chain Slasher as a ranged claw attack, which she controls like her regular Photon Dragon's Scintilla attacks. The power and force behind each and every wire manifested using this spell is considerable; indeed, they can slice clean through a building like the concrete was just wet tissue paper and cutting things on the atomic level, bringing mass devastation to everything that they come into contact with- by applying vibrations caused by her Dragon Slayer Magic to these strings, they are capable of defying the laws of physics- she can destroy multiple skyscrapers in seconds with her wires, and pierce through solid Defenser barriers like they barely existed in this plane of existence, inflicting severe slashing and laceration damage upon any unfortunate soul that just so happens to come into contact with these evil wires. However, she can also use separate wires for different purposes- for example, during their battle, she used four to grab hold of Tsuruko Sejren's leg when she was descending with her Victorize Kick, fling her into a building, and hold her in place, but at the same time, have the final wire slash her.

    Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier.

Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier (偽性・光の造形魔法・光子竜召喚・星夜の騎士(フォトニック・フォージ・アーク・キャバリアー), Fotonikku Fōji: Āku Kyabariā lit. Pseudo-Light Molding Magic: Photon Dragon Summon: Knight of the Starlit Night): Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier is a Photon Dragon Slayer Magic spell of the Photonic Forge line which enables Charlotte to create a knight-esque figure composed purely of light to fulfill a variety of purposes. When bringing Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier into existence, Charlotte activates Photonic Forge by going to the extremes of the 'magic = feelings' concept—by fueling her magic with positive feelings, Charlotte initiates the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; drawing from the inner feelings of the humanity to purify the world off all its evils and mistakes, like a beacon of hope. At this very moment, Charlotte projects a Magic Seal of a golden texture that appears similar to that of a large circular grid of hexagons before her figure- this sigil is utilized as a medium to transmit the light created through the startup process, Charlotte using her imagination in order to mold the light and envision the creature while it exits the crest, these photons taking upon a solid form of a dynamic being which spawns from her magical seal, under her command. The light-hewn creature known as Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier takes upon the appearance of a medieval suit of armour, made completely from light yet given enough material consistency so that its armoured existence does actually appear as metallic, though some faint traces of its real origins remain. The Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier is clad in silver armour that possesses several golden crests and markings, most notably on its chestplate and serving as its visor. The armour mainly covers the knight's entire upper body and legs- what seems to be a black undersuit remains- this undersuit possesses several mechanical-looking golden markings which constantly pulsate with light. The greaves of the armoured knight are serrated and have numerous rivets separating each individual section clad upon the upper legs, though the lower legs and boots look relatively normal as they are simply smooth armour plates. The upper body possesses rounded pauldrons and rather clunky-looking gauntlets with just as many separated sections as there are fully-formed portions. The chestplate of the knight covers the upper body, stopping just at the end of the upper half of the chest area, pointed down like an arrow- the areas where there would be pectoral muscles have hexagonal openings on each side from which a glowing orb of emerald shines through, with a three-pronged golden symbol at the middle of the chest area separating each hexagon. Finally, the helmet of Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier is typical fare for a medieval-looking knight, the being's face obscured by this specifically-tailored mass of metal, with a subtle fin of steel extending from the top of the helmet. The golden visor is split into two on each side and is heavily stylized, with a relatively large slit to allow the knight's glowing azure eyes to see through the helmet. The armour stands at least thrice as tall as Charlotte, wielding a version of Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo that is nearly the same height as its body. The Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier can even move and fight like Charlotte as well, with the similar amount of strength as its wielder; due to Charlotte's magical power giving it extra strength. The Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier has such an immense destructive power that it is capable of defeating weaker opponents in a single blow; though stronger foes are capable of counterattacking. Indeed, a testament to the warrior's enormous strength is that it is capable of wielding its large, two-handed sword with a single hand, swinging it around as if it were a twig while still maintaining the force of a two handed blow. Overall, the Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier possesses significant physical capabilities and a variety of abilities, and is best suited for ground based combat. The construct itself is highly durable, able to withstand a blast from an Abyss Break; as the construct sustained only a few injuries. Unlike most molding magic constructs, the Ark Cavalier is able to fix and restore itself after being damaged or broken, in reflection to how much Charlotte has healed. Charlotte is capable of partially summoning any part of Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier on the fly for an instant surprise; however, it should be taken into consideration that due to Charlotte's preference for close-range combat and doing everything herself instead of relying on others, forged by her own hands or not, to do her dirty work, Ark Cavalier rarely sees the fields of battle unless it is to hold interfering foes off while Charlotte fights her own enemy.
    • Swordsmanship Specialist: The Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier is shown to be a master of swordsmanship, being capable of utilizing the momentum of its blade in motion to execute wide swings while chaining together blows- its fighting style focuses on strong, concise strikes that yield heavy damage, while sacrificing speed for more defensive tactics; attacking viciously with large and swift sweeping movements, creating an unstoppable force; the knight has great range on its attacks, which can give some characters great difficulty when trying to get in on the construct. In battle, the Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier wields its blade with incredible prowess; the tremendous cutting power of the knight's sword strikes are capable of effortlessly slicing through magical barriers. Its precision is even able to cut off a lit candle's wick and keep it lit on the edge of its blade; as well as produce shockwaves from its strikes to intercept enemy attacks. The knight's swings have the potential to split the very earth with each swing, bringing mass devastation to every direction that the weapon lands- each of the knight's attacks is a fatal blow that needs to be blocked or dodged. With its Photonic Forge: Ame no Murakumo, it is capable of launching waves of light from the blade at its opponents with high speed and power, often taking enemies by surprise- this technique is detailed more below.
      • ThunderBreakPer

Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier using Thunder Break.

Sword Beam: Thunder Break (魔力剣波・雷電残光(ソード・ビーム・サンダー・ブレーク), Sōdo Bīmu: Sandā Burēku lit. Magical Power Sword Wave: Thunder and Lightning Afterglow): Sword Beam: Thunder Break, also known as Halo Blade (後光刃, Gokōjin) is a difficult to classify spell; it is either a regular Light Magic or even a Sword Magic spell; and despite the name, it is most certainly not a Lightning Magic spell. However, what is known is that enables the user to unleash a powerful bolt-like shockwave composed of light from their blade; despite being relatively simple, the spell is known to be tremendously powerful. In any case, when performing the Thunder Break, the user infuses the Photonic Forge: Ama no Murakumo with their magical energy while condensing it to its utmost limit, converging at a singular point—the tip of the sword; intensifying the kinetic energy that is about to be released by convergence and acceleration; all the while, the user actives the manifestation of the light element by going the extremes of the 'magic = feelings' concept—by fueling their magic with positive feelings, the user initiates the usual fusion of eternano and magical power, only manifesting magical power in a light and benevolent nature; drawing from the inner feelings of the humanity to purify the world off all its evils and mistakes, like a beacon of hope, which swirls around their weapon, giving it the appearance of an empty hilt which has a large mass of light attached to what the user is holding. The charging process can take from about half a second to a full minute, depending on the user's preferences or the properties of the blade; the user is capable of compressing even more of his magical energy upon the Photonic Forge: Ama no Murakumo to achieve a higher level of power- the magical energy compressed, in the case of Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier, this takes the form of a golden glow that radiates throughout the area. Grasping the blade in one of their hands, Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier condenses the light to its utmost limit while the knight raises their sword clockwise until they are grasping it above their head, the sword piercing the sky. Compressing the light, the user grips their sword tightly, and at the instant of the slash, the user swiftly releases the magical energy and expels the photons compressed upon the blade which magnifies the slash attack, unleashing it in the form of a wave of energy in the form of an arrowhead-shaped bolt of light that flies forward at high speeds- this bolt of light, imbued with the immense photonic energy generated by this Dragon Slayer Magic, gives off the appearance of a divine arrow which tears through everything that it comes into contact with, including the air itself as it chases its opponent down. While normally, Thunder Break flies through the air as free as a bird, it can also be launched across the ground like a shark's fin hovering above the water; the crescent of energy mows through the surface of the Earth while in motion. Upon impact, the arrow causes a large explosion of energy with enough momentum to breach defenses; making it extremely powerful, ripping into the ground and incinerating an entire squadron of Rune Knights, scorching the very foundation of the earth, leaving naught but molten asphalt and burning away everything in sight, such as forests and rocks as it splits the skies. A single swing of it is more than enough to disperse an entire rainstorm; as well as demolish a large radius of the surroundings and leave behind a huge crater in the wake of the attack. The Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier has displayed almost perfect mastery over the Thunder Break, being capable of controlling and modifying the output of the attack in almost way that the knight deems fit; this isn't limited to but it includes changing the properties of the blasts, causing them to inflict piercing penetrating damage, explode violently upon contact, ricochet upon impact with any surface which is not the knight's target, as well as manually control their flight path. Its principal use is to strike at adversaries outside of the sword's range. Essentially, it breaks the air with a slash and forces out a powerful blast of pure magical energy at the adversary. Because it is essentially the release of focused magical energy, it is capable of destroying anything with a decisive strike of a cutting magical arrow. What should be noted is that Thunder Break possessing homing properties; tracking the foe's heat signature in order to sniff them out and deal damage.
        • Thunder Break: Spark End (雷電残光・全見矢羽嵐(サンダー・ブレーク・スパーク・エンド), Sandā Burēku: Supāku Endo lit. Thunder and Lighting Afterglow: Omnidirectional Arrow Feather Storm) With Thunder Break: Spark End, Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier is also capable of expelling the photons condensed upon the weapon into the skies in the form of countless arrowhead-shaped bolts of light which launch upwards like a rain of arrows ascending into the air, giving off the air of a volcanic eruption, only attuned to the element of light. The sheer force and speed at which the caster releases these innumerable projectiles from their steel weapon causes a considerable amount of photonic energy to gather around them, resulting in those light particles interacting with their magical energies and forming a spherical barrier of light which is textured azure. After shooting into the atmosphere, the arrows of photonic energy begin to rain down indiscriminately like a meteoric swarm descending upon the helpless earth, resulting in enormous amounts of damage all across the immediate area as countless spears of gold fall from the sky upon anything and everything- the concept of 'friendly fire' is very much in effect here. The arrows of light are shot with enough force to repel a high-powered elemental spell. While it is possible to block many of the strikes, to do so can be seen as suicidal. When the user harnesses the power of Thunder Break: Spark End, it is not uncommon to see a flurry of golden arrows materializing out of thin air and disappearing just as quickly, flying and attacking rapidly from many angles at once; overall overwhelming the foe; or at least, placing tremendous pressure upon them, forcing them to keep their defenses up lest they be struck by a spear—causing dozens of other arrows to perforate them in a matter of moments. The shining arrows lock-on to the user's opponents no matter their position, chasing after them, and they can dodge obstacles in their way, unless it is not physically possible, never ceasing their hunt until they catch their prey. This attack embodies the idea that quantity has a quality all its own; the shining arrows released can be mentally stopped and pointed in another direction if the opponent dodges, drawing a beautiful geometric curtain of death, piercing the target and damaging them enormously. The curving aspect of this spell makes the arrows miniature heat-seeking missiles, but instead of locking on to heat, they target whatever enemy they have; making it impossible to avoid or escape from—a certain hit is an inevitability, giving the opponents little to no chance to escape unless it is physically impossible to harm them or a serious obstruction is in the way. Upon firing them, the user can allow them to pierce the ground after striking the target, causing a large amount of destruction with each weapon as the of the lights are as such that they are capable of burning through everything that they pass by, as the heat emitted by the spell is capable of melting enemy defenses and weaponry with ease.
        • Charge (無限光発射・剣圧縮充電(チャージ), Chāji lit. Limitless Light Discharge Bladed Compression): Through a method simply known as Charge, Photonic Forge: Ark Cavalier is capable of adding more of Charlotte's Photon Dragon Slayer Magic onto the blade when they are initiating the attack to achieve a higher level of power; this process, while it does result in the spell being launched at an ever-so-slightly later date, it can drastically enhance the power, width, and size of the Thunder Break spell, and as such, the option of charging can mean the difference between victory and defeat in the heat of battle. Generally, the charging speed of the Thunder Break spell takes about two seconds down to the letter, and if the Thunder Break spell is charged, it travels in a straight line, but when fired without charging, it flies in an up-and-down wave motion. The knight is also capable of continuing to hold the spell in its magical energy compressed form and move around as normal; this can serve as a way to take advantage of extra power while taking evasive action. The knight is capable of interrupting the charge of the attack by grabbing their weapon with their free hand; the charge cancel can be used to bluff an opponent by allowing them to come close to the knight while they're charging, only to find themselves attacked by another method. This has the intentional side-effect of focusing the arrows of light manifested through Thunder Break upon the knight's sword in order to drastically enhancing the speed and power of their swings, while also releasing large amounts of photons with each strike.
Advanced Spells

Dragon Slayer's Secret Art (滅竜奥義, Metsu Ryū Ōgi): The strongest techniques of a Dragon Slayer. What should be noted, is that Charlotte's bog-standard Dragon Slayer's Secret Arts are about as powerful, if not more powerful, as anyone else's Dragon Slayer's Ultimate Arts (滅竜極義, Metsuryū Gokugi) and Dragon Slayer's Forbidden Arts (滅竜禁義, Metsuryū Kingi)—this is because she has not bothered to obtain those, and instead focused on strengthening the basic secret arts; as through arduous training, Charlotte's Dragon Slayer's Secret Arts can be considered some of the strongest around.

  • CharlotteDragonarModeKick

    Dragoon Streiser.

Illuminator: Dragoon Streiser (無極曙・光龍騎蹴り(イルミネーター・ドラグーン・ストライザー), Iruminētā: Doragūn Sutoraizā lit. Limitless Dawn: Shining Dragon Knight Kick): Charlotte's most powerful attack; it is one of the Dragon Slayer's Secret Arts, the strongest spells that a Dragon Slayer is capable of performing. When performing Dragoon Streiser, Charlotte gathers and condenses light into her leg; causing her leg to emit sparkling, glittering wisps of golden energy, promoting a calm breeze that flows away from her leg- as Charlotte continues charging photonic energy upon her leg, this breeze increases in intensity until it becomes a powerful gale that expels colourful bands of light that begins to resemble a Northern Lights-esque aurora, all flowing from her foot; this results in a focusing of power that becomes so intense that her leg begins to shine golden. From there, she harnesses her immense speed by kicking off the ground ten times in the blink of an eye –the first kick releases a small shockwave with special properties- in order to leap a good twenty feet or so into the air, Charlotte applies the high-speed movements granted by transforming her body into light in order to accelerate her movements to tremendous speeds—so fast that the opponent cannot see where she is moving—then, by jumping forward, she unleashes a powerful flying side kick that attacks the opponent head-on; once in the air, a projection of her dragon form snakes around her as Charlotte corkscrews into a kicking position, then as she reaches the peak of her jump, the dragon projection sends her flying forward with a Dragon's Roar; causing her to slam down upon the opponent with her foot with a strike that equals over three hundred tons in weight, more than enough to completely shatter the opponent into innumerable fragments. The only major weakness of this technique is that Charlotte has to focus all her power into her legs, forcing her to lower her arms and enter a guard-less stance; which can allow the opponent to strike; as she focuses all of her power while maintaining her center of balance and delivers a kick at the opponent's weak spot; shattering any defenses and severely winding them. This attack is equal to Tsuruko as Gaiki's Victorize Kick Limit Break in terms of power; indeed, when the two attacks clashed during Tsuruko and Charlotte's final battle, there was no victor- instead, upon both legs slamming into each other, both girls fell to the ground, having wounded themselves to the point that they could no longer stand- considering that both kicks have shown to be capable of one-hit-killing the divine, simply breaking their legs makes it come off quite easy.
    • Fourfold Dragoon Streiser (四動力全開・光龍騎蹴り(フォアフォールド・ドラグーン・ストライザー), Foafōrudo Doragūn Sutoraizā lit. The Dynamic Force of Four Full Throttle: Shining Dragon Knight Kick): Fourfold Dragoon Streiser is an upgraded version of the regular Dragoon Streiser, brought about by Dragoascension being hewn from the Dragon Four-mation spell. In any case, when performing Fourfold Dragoon Streiser, Charlotte summons a complex Magic Seal which is mainly golden in texture and appears similar to that of a group of shining hexagons illuminated by light, all attached together to resemble a circle with a hole in the middle which she launches forward at the opponent, causing the crest to smash into the enemy, momentarily distracting them before she harnesses Dragon Four-mation in order to summon three perfect duplicates of herself in Dragonar Mode; however, doing so reverts her back to her regular Dragonar Mode momentarily. Now with four Blazer Dragoons against the enemy, Charlotte's replicas blast the enemy with streams of photonic energy which latch onto the opponent's limbs, holding them in place as three rings of light form before Charlotte. The final step of the attack now initiates, with Charlotte flying through the golden ring projections foot-first, with each successive ring compressing one of the clones summoned by Dragon Four-mation onto her body- after she has passed the entire triad, Charlotte becomes Blazer Dragoon Victory once more, as light compresses upon her leg- and with that, Charlotte slams into the weakened opponent with an extraordinarily powerful diving kick instantly. Because she moves faster than the eye can see, the opponent won't be able to react until after she has already hit them; the power of Fourfold Dragoon Streiser is as such that with it, even if it is used as a nonlethal attack, Charlotte is capable of launching an opponent all the way to the sun at light-speeds. Fourfold Dragoon Streiser is Charlotte's equivalent to Tsuruko's Victorize Kick Version 5 in terms of both function and power, used as a strike without any equal only to reveal itself when there is no other chances of defeating an enemy in front of her.
  • CharlotteOverFlash

    Charlotte unleashing Over Flash.

Illuminator: Over Flash (無極曙・龍羽風生に暫く・無限光の星降ル祭ニ(イルミネーター・オーバー・フラッシュ), Iruminētā: Ōbā Furasshu lit. Limitless Dawn: In a Moment Where a Dragon's Wings Flap, The Festival of Falling Stars that Shine Eternally): The final Dragon Slayer's Secret Art of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic; it is the end-be-all of offense; Over Flash is designated as the strongest light-derived magic spell in all of existence, without any equal. In any case, when performing Over Flash, the caster enters a state of trance while expanding their magical energies outwards, causing the area around themselves to become full of star-like lights, followed shortly after by a dark blanket reminiscent of a night sky, causing planets and galaxies which are composed of both cipher and photons to start appearing around the immediate vicinity. These photons shaped into the universal aspects swirl around like a vortex, shrouding the area in their energies which produces a shine brighter than the stars in the night skies. Once this has been done, the caster is capable of performing three mathematical calculations in order to decide how much damage the attack would do- the first two equations calculate the sun's and planet's potential attractive forces. The third equation calculates Earth Land's potential attractive forces and the fourth misstates that the photons and cipher are working on a two-dimensional level, as it is the equation for the area of a circle, all to direct the energy used to cause the activation of Over Flash. While performing this triad of calculations, a complex Magic Seal which is mainly golden in texture and appears similar to that of a group of shining hexagons illuminated by light, all attached together to resemble a circle with a hole in the middle forms behind the caster- and a larger one manifests in front of them, giving off the appearance of the user being sandwiched between them. Once the equations are finished, the caster unleashes positively enormous amounts of light in the form of a powerful three-streamed blast of photonic energy and cipher energy, signified by one blast being golden, one being black and one being a mixture tempered by infusing fighting spirit into it- these trio of blasts travel towards the enemy, smashing through anything that they come into contact with like it had been exposed to the heat of the sun as they expand vertically while moving away from the caster. The trio of photonic energies simulate the rending of space and creating an artificial dislocation of the space-time continuum, allowing their power to act as a crushing torrent of pure power that extends from the heavens and the earth while annihilating both, affecting everything caught in-between these spheres while pulverizing anything unfortunate enough to be in the way of the spell, swallowing and crushing all in its path, releasing dazzling light that does naught but intensify as the spell continues. As the blast moves away from the user, opponents that come in contact with the vortex are knocked slightly to the side, and are thus forced to travel with it. Opponents that are in the center of the vortex are more easily trapped by it. The user recoils slightly when they perform the attack, but they are unaffected by gravity until the move ends, so it is mostly insignificant. Each blast is capable of hitting about 7.5 times a second, smashing each and every enemy with the splitting of time and space while reducing everything to nothing in the blink of an eye.
  • Illuminator: Radiant Dragon Fang (無極曙・覇王翔光龍滅牙撃(イルミネーター・ラジアント・ドラゴン・ファング), Iruminētā: Rajianto Doragon Fangu lit. Limitless Dawn: Overlord Shining Flying Dragon Destroying Fang Attack): Illuminator: Radiant Dragon Fang is referred to as the "true form of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic" and it is more often than not Charlotte's finishing move against stronger enemies; it is a Dragon Slayer's Secret Art unique to Charlotte and Charlotte around. When performing Radiant Dragon Fang, Charlotte gathers and condenses light into her body; causing her figure to emit sparkling, glittering wisps of golden energy, promoting a calm breeze that flows away from her frame- as Charlotte continues charging photonic energy and cipher energy upon her body, this breeze increases in intensity until it becomes a powerful gale that expels colourful bands of light that begins to resemble a Northern Lights-esque aurora, all flowing from the epicenter of her very being; this results in a focusing of power that becomes so intense that she begins to shine golden. At this point, Charlotte releases large amounts of cipher energies which cause the light to be released slightly as an icy tornado which flows around the vicinity before Charlotte collides with the opponent, resulting in them becoming frozen and incapable of freeing themselves from this icy prison. From here, Charlotte is capable of attacking them from any and every direction as she circles around her enemy at high speeds as they quickly and surely get sucked into the icy tornado and become flung into mid-air. Now that the opponent is set up for the next step of the blow, Charlotte stomps upon the ground, forming a complex Magic Seal which is mainly golden in texture and appears similar to the bagua, the eight trigrams famously developed by Chinese strategist Zhuge Liang, signifying that there is no escape now that the next step has been initiated. From here, Photonize activates, gathering anything and everything in the vicinity and converting it into photons before shaping these masses of light into the visage of a dragon composed completely of golden light which flies forth, chasing after the enemy as its roars disturb the fabric of time and space- everything that it passes is rend in twain as it travels through the atmosphere; if they come into contact with other enemies, the dragon can carry the foes into the air in order to receive the full brunt of this attack alongside the other opponent, dealing damage along the way. Although Charlotte is invincible when utilizing it, the poor recipients of the attack can be assaulted by others; leading some of her subordinates to bombard them when they are helpless. While the dragons shoots towards her enemy, Charlotte leaps upwards, flyingup the dragon's head and absorbing herself into the rising dragon before colliding with the trapped enemy and disintegrating them. Radiant Dragon Fang deals obscene amounts of damage to anyone caught up in the attack, while the amount of property damage as a result is more than enough to destroy half of Four's Ancient Area, which was separated from the regular slums of Four some time after Ashur's fight with Nidhoggr in that exact location. It should be taken into consideration that it is entirely possible to break free from the ice of cipher that traps the opponent and leaves them incapable of dodging the rest of the attack, meaning that there is a way of evading this overwhelmingly powerful attack. However, if the enemy manages such a feat by breaking the icy barrier, Charlotte can use Double Chaser to summon two other duplicates and from here, the two duplicates and Charlotte turn into dragons of light which then bombard the enemy, dealing damage that equals the normal amount of destruction Radiant Dragon Fang would regularly cause. Another version of dealing with evasion is the moment the enemy lands on the ground, the dragon of light turns into ice via cipher, chasing the enemy down and refreezing them, before transforming back into pure light before vaporizing them. while frozen and after the gear unfreezes itself during landing, the dragon turns into ice element and chases the escaping gear and refreezes it, turns back into flame element and destroys it completely. While it was created for the sole purpose of exacting revenge upon Tsuruko and is used against Deen Lhant, Kirika Hotsuin, and Sion Kenzaki, during Charlotte's duel with Tsuruko in the final chapters, she only uses Radiant Dragon Fang to counter Tsuruko's brand-new Shining Sword Breaker- the collision of the two resulted in an Ardor Clash which transported Tsuruko and Charlotte to Soulspace.

Dragonar Mode

Dragonar Mode (龍騎化(ドラグナー・モード), Doragunā Mōdo lit. Dragon Knight Transformation) is an Ancient Spell exclusive to Dragons and those with dragon-blood. It enables the user to take upon an armoured form. Dragonar Mode is one of the very few powers related to Dragons that was developed after the Human-Dragon War; more specifically, as most Dragons had utilized Compact Regression to hide themselves amongst mankind, Dragonar Mode was developed in order to compensate for the drastic reduction of power while making sure that onlookers would not find out their origins as a dragon. It was hinted that Dragonar Mode was specifically developed in an attempt to mimic the overwhelming power of the Soul Armours, though Soul Armour Knights aside from the Phoenix Knight were a rare sight during those days. Even in an age without dragons due to all of them being slaughtered by the world famous unicyclist known as "Badass McPowerfist", Dragonar Mode is still around, albeit technically "lost"; as almost no Dragons are shown to activate its power in the current time, being known as a "mere myth". Dragonar Mode is also referred to as the "Strongest Dragon Transformation" (最強の龍変身, Saikyō no Ryū Henshin) though this cannot be backed up as a Dragonar Mode user has never properly fought a dragon or Dragon Slayer in any other form.

Essentially, Dragonar Mode is available to a Dragon who used Compact Regression and with the help of an outside source of power; it drags out their true form and compresses it into an armour to enable them to use their full power without transforming into an unwieldy full-body dragon form. However, it requires truly staggering amounts of energy gain, whether magical or metaphysical in nature, taking a small portion of the user's life force with every utilization of the Ancient Spell. Normal dragons are capable of activating Dragonar Mode by will, as long as they allow the form to consume a small portion of their life. However, in rare cases, it is available to a being with the blood of dragons—by raising their "fighting spirit" to its utmost limit (or something like that; the process is ill-defined), a half-dragon is capable of assuming a humanoid dragon form that bears a striking likeness to their dragon parent. However, this form is considered to be "flawed" and is only half as strong as a Dragonar Mode induced by a full-blooded dragon. However, this form is extremely taxing to the point that it can only last five minutes initially even with support, but with proper training, it can be maintained for longer periods of time.

Blazer Dragoon

Charlotte as Blazer Dragoon.

"Life, burn! (命、燃やすぜ! Inochi, moyasu ze!)"
— Charlotte activating her Dragonar Mode, Blazer Dragoon.

Blazer Dragoon (無限光の龍騎(ブレザー・ドラグーン), Burezā Doragūn lit. Dragon Knight of Infinite Light): Charlotte's Dragonar Mode enables her to take upon the form of an azure humanoid dragon referred to as Blazer Dragoon. In this form, Charlotte takes the form of an azure dragon-man (竜人, Ryūjin), a subspecies of dragon that is, well, it's fairly obvious how it happened. In any case, Charlotte, as Blazer Dragoon, almost doubles in height, which certainly helps to boost her intimidation factor, as Charlotte in S1 is only slightly taller than her former friend Tsuruko, who is the shortest non-preteen character in the entire Sun Trilogy. Blazer Dragoon is mainly a deep azure in texture, possessing a tall stature and a steampunk-esque design, clad in black armour over some parts of its body. The rounded pauldrons have spikes extending from the sides, with numerous gear motifs and a long, red scarf draping down her front. The silver crest attached to Charlotte's forehead is accented by a red gem. Two boosters attached to her back also serve as wings of sorts. Ironically Blazer Dragoon itself resembles Gaiki, Tsuruko Sejren's Soul Armour- both forms are mainly blue, red, and silver, with steampunk-esque traits mainly derived from trains, and thrusters attached to the back. To increase her speed, she is capable of transforming the normal draconic feet into wheels, granting her the ability to move faster than the eye, untrained or not, can comprehend, even without taking her Photon Dragon Slayer Magic into account. Likewise, the orange portions on the wrists and overall gauntlets can be opened, revealing miniature thrusters that bolster her movement speed further; and it also enhances the power of her punches significantly to the point that she can bust through a portion of Abyssion's shoulder. With both activated, Charlotte is capable of moving as swiftly as Gaiki with Tsuruko's ASF-EX "Wing Road" Vernier Thruster System activated. Overall, in terms of statistics, Blazer Dragoon and Gaiki are similar in both appearance and sheer power output.

Charlotte is known to possess a certain mastery over this form, as she can remain in this form for several hours at a time, whereas normally Dragonar Mode would wear anyone else, -full-blooded dragon or not- down rather quickly. Indeed, during her fight with Tsuruko/Gaiki, like her old friend, Charlotte was shown to activate Dragonar Mode to become Blazer Dragoon several times in succession even when logically, she should have been deprived of all of her magical energy. As Blazer Dragoon, Charlotte's physical parameters have been enhanced beyond her already impressive capabilities, allowing her to serve as a suitable match to a Prototype Soul Armour, specially, the Knight of Light, Gaiki; during their fight, neither Tsuruko/Gaiki or Charlotte/Blazer Dragoon were capable of getting the upper hand over the other, though it was implied numerous times that Tsuruko was holding back in order to avoid hurting her old friend- even so, Charlotte is still one of the scarse few characters to give Tsuruko trouble in the entire Sun Trilogy. As Blazer Dragoon, Charlotte is a fast-moving mass of destruction towards her enemies, flying at mach seven and jumping as high as the skies, all while hitting even harder than what a Crash user with super strength can muster in terms of power; this supreme power is shown during the chapters leading up to Charlotte's fight with Tsuruko, as she decimates most of the Magic Council and takes down four guilds within a week. She can also channel her Photon Dragon Slayer Magic into portions of her body for maximum damage; the best usage of this is focusing light within her feet to grant her the ability to unleash bursts of blinding speed. Her Photonic Pulsar roar is enhanced for additional firepower, her dragon tail can stretch to allow a barrage of white-hot tail stings, her claws can emit vast amounts of light to cleave through any metal within seconds, and her wings can be enhanced to be able to slice through any type of metal even more quickly then her claws.

  • Gearwidth Radialfire (無限光歯車肩過熱波(ギアウィス・ラジアルファイヤー), Giawisu Raijiarufaiyā lit. Infinite Light Gear-Shoulder Superheated Surge): Gearwidth Radialfire is a special technique that cannot really be classified as a spell under the banner of any magic- it is an improvised manuver devised by Tsuruko Sejren using the heat sinks on Gaiki's chest; Charlotte herself simply mimicked it during their battle to counter Tsuruko's own Breast Fire. In any case, when performing Gearwidth Radialfire, the user surges their fighting spirit to the maximum, gathering and converging their very soul at a single point- their upper body area. Once this has been done, the user harnesses the properties of the heat sinks attached to the chest of the Soul Armour (Tsuruko) or the golden gears attached to the shoulders -specifically the emerald gems embedded within them- in the case of Charlotte, bringing the power of spirit into the mortal realm and projecting them from the components of choice in the form of an intensely hot blast of heat at the enemy, powerful enough to completely anything that it comes into contact with, reducing any buildings and metals to molten slag just by glancing past it. However, against an opposing force of equal power, Gearwidth Radialfire's power is unknown as Tsuruko and Charlotte's own attacks cancelled each other out at the exact moment of collision. Gearwidth Radialfire is a reference to the Breast Fire technique utilized by Mazinger Z, the titular super robot of the classic Go Nagai manga- in the case of Tsuruko's own variant of the technique, it is fired from her chest.

Blazer Dragoon Victory

Charlotte as Blazer Dragoon Victory.

Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Victory (極龍神化・無限光の龍騎・約束された勝利(シューティング・ブレザー・ドラグーン・ビクト), Doragoasenshon: Burezā Doragūn Bikutorī lit. Apotheosized Ultimate Dragon: Dragon Knight of Infinite Light- Promised Victory): Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Victory is the name of Charlotte's Dragoascension (極龍神化(ラゴアセンション), Doragoasenshon lit. Apotheosized Ultimate Dragon); which is the advanced form of Dragonar Mode. It is a "next-level transformation" that is an evolution of Dragonar Mode, designed to bring out the final parts of the user's power; granting the user power akin to a Soul Armour with a Super Mode, more or less. To activate Dragoascension, this would require a connection to the Ley lines (竜脈(レイ・ライン), Rei Rain lit. Dragon's Vein) that are scattered throughout the dimensions to grant the user an enormous surge of power which would allow them to properly access the form; however, once this is done, the user can access Dragoascension at any time. Dragon-blooded users have a far more difficult time unlocking this form, and it burns up even more of their life to the point that if they harness it more than thrice, they will die.

The user's draconic qualities become more pronounced in this form, as the unlocking of their full power drastically enhances the user's physical prowess, making them far stronger, more resistant to damage, and faster, and considerably boosts all of their parameters to the point that they can shrug off high-level magical powers. Upon activation of Dragoascension, and overwhelming force is released from the user's body, unleashing a powerful shockwave which causes a crater in the earth; infecting the ground around the user to enable small chunks of rock to float upwards just by the user's mere presence. Their personal element is also augmented to the point that they can absorb any kind of it, including Slayer Magics of all kinds, though this happens automatically. What is interesting to note is that Dragoascension enhances all of the user's moves and spells, greatly increasing their area-of-effect as well as improving their damage significantly and giving them access to one exceedingly powerful attack. In many cases, the user is capable of manifesting numerous limbs and blades from certain "hardpoints" on the armour, such as gems and vents, drastically enhancing their offensive power.

In this form, Charlotte's Blazer Dragoon form takes upon several drastic changes- the steampunk-esque attributes of the form are shed in favour of a more proper, knight-like appearance. While Blazer Dragoon Victory keeps the predominant azure texture, but gains a set of nifty pauldrons, gauntlets, and a two-sided armoured skirt. Two enormous wings extend from Charlotte's back; overall, Blazer Dragoon Victory has a more natural, 'organic' appearance. Unlike other users of this form, Charlotte is a rarity in that she is only half-blooded dragon and still capable of achieving it. It is said that Charlotte first obtained it through being submerged in the Ley lines after being knocked straight through the earth by Ronaldo Barbas in his Archfiend Dragocytus form during Charlotte's own side-story; with her completely drowning in the immense amounts of magical energy beneath the earth, she recieved one thousand times the amount of magical energy siphoned from Ley lines than normal to activate it, causing her to involuntarily mutate into this powered up form. However, afterwards, she can activate it by absorbing all three Dragon Four-mation clones created through an augmented Cipher Projection, granting her immense magical energies which are stabilized by her fighting spirit, allowing Charlotte to combine all three Dragonar Modes alongside her own and combine the energy output as to awaken the new form. This is Charlotte's second strongest form- indeed, it is said that Blazer Dragoon Victory is a proper match for Gaiki's Super Mode.

When working as Blazer Dragoon Victory, Charlotte's parameters have been pushed to their very limits and then some, as she is now a fast-moving mass of destruction towards those who she deems her enemies, flying as faster than the speed of light with assistance from her Accellight spell, moving faster than any speed-focused magician; and her agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of her race, the same goes for her reflexes. This speed extends to her vision, as she also possesses the ability to view things in high speed, enabling her to dodge attacks and predict the actions of others. She can jump high enough to touch the clouds, all while hitting even harder than a full blooded dragon can muster in terms of power; indeed, with a single punch, she was capable of smashing Ronaldo's Dragonar Mode's plate armour on his shoulder while sending him flying. Charlotte also has the ability to fire a never-ending barrage of Photonic Pulsar blasts whenever she feels like it, as well as fire intense gales of wind from her wings. It should also be noted that her power in this form is higher than a full-blooded dragon's with the same element, to the point where Charlotte can easily defeat an enemy that previously rebuked Rosa Dimaggio's own attack; overall, in this form, Charlotte's powers have reached their peak. However, Blazer Dragoon Victory can only be used for a limited time as it is extremely taxing on Charlotte's energy reserves.

Blazer Dragoon Divergence
CharlotteDragoascensionNew

Charlotte in her Beyond the Dragoascension form.

Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence Apotheosized Ultimate Dragon: Final State – Dragon Knight of Infinite Light – Supreme Ultimate State of All Physical Laws): Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence is the name of Charlotte Merquise's upgraded Dragoascension, being a level of Dragonar Mode that's impossible to attain by any other Dragon with the exception of the Dragon of Dragons. Because Charlotte is the daughter of the Dragon of Dragons, it should come as no surprise that she was capable of obtaining this miraculous transformation, with her mother having passed her power and thus the ability to reach a level beyond Dragoascension to her during the period of time between Daybreak and Fairy Tail: Dawn. Directly integrating into Charlotte's Dragonar Mode and its Dragoascension form known as Blazer Dragoon and Blazer Dragoon Victory respectively, just like her previous Dragonar Mode forms, Charlotte's form when this power is invoked is mainly a deep azure in texture, possessing a tall stature and a steampunk-esque design, clad in black armour over some parts of its body, though in comparison to the others, the appearance is significantly more elegant, possessing a myriad of boosters attached to her back, two scissor-like protrusions on her jaw, a slightly more curved head-crest, and various gears adorned upon her body; the armour of this form is known as the "Tiamat Head" pauldrons, the "Wyvern Head" greaves, and the "Naga Head" vambraces. Indeed, when the power of Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence is at her every beck and call, Charlotte is capable of tapping into the myriad of Ley lines that flow through both Earth Land and Edolas ever-so-casually, compressing the dragon's veins within her very existence at all times as to grant her unfathomable ability beyond the likes of a vast majority of other forms of Slayer Magic, completely disregarding any power-ups or strength levels of those that she does battle against.

The activation of Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence was achieved by the strong feelings of the other Dragon Slayers that Charlotte had gotten to know ever since she had decided to turn over a new leaf – Vivian Starrkewolfe wielding Solar Dragon Slayer Magic, Momoko Sitri wielding Water Dragon Slayer Magic, Rosa Dimaggio wielding Lunar Dragon Slayer Magic, Scylla wielding Diamond Dragon Slayer Magic, and last but not least her own mother, Ashley Briett, the Dragon of Dragons, wielding Photon Dragon Slayer Magic – five draconic warriors thoughts and feelings resonating within her, which takes the fact that the activation sequence of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic breaks the limit of the theory of magic equaling emotions and allows it a level of power beyond most ordinary forms of Dragon Slayer Magic and amplifies it sevenfold, results in a miraculous evolution that has been classified as "Genshi Shinka" (原始進化(ゲンシ・シンカ), Genshi Shinka lit. Primeval Evolution), possessing a might that surpasses all other forms of dragon-based power-ups, including Dragon Force, Dual Element Dragon Mode, Drive, Dragon Dance, Primal Dragon Mode, and many more. Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence has been referred to as the true form of the Unbreakable Dark's Hopeless Aurageyser Mode, which itself was obtained by Níðhöggr combining the dark energies of his Black Dragon Slayer Magic with what was supposed to be Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, but due to Rosa Dimaggio making a sacrificial play, the Black Dragon absorbed her Lunar Dragon Slayer Magic, thus resulting in an imperfect form, albeit still incredibly powerful. Through powerful emotions resonating within Charlotte's Factor of the Dragon and the wishes of the other Dragon Slayers fighting for a new tomorrow being felt, the true ultimate Dragon Slayer Magic form was unlocked, Charlotte wielding it perfectly, becoming the true Genesis Omega Dragon G・O・D(ジェネシス・オメガ・ドラゴン), Jeneshisu Omega Doragon).

From the very moment that Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence is put into motion, the photons as harnessed by the ordinary form of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic, with some held from good old fighting spirit, undergo the process of transmutation, transmogrifying into the pseudo-element which is known as tachyons, which are a hypothetical particle that always moves faster than light, and most physicists believe they cannot exist because they are not consistent with the natural laws of physics and potentially violate the laws of causality; thus granting Charlotte a certain level of power that's beyond her ordinary utilization of Photon Dragon Slayer Magic from the very beginning. Power ascending to heights never seen before or since, the tachyons gained by this process putting the ability of spatio-chronokinesis into effect immediately as countless wormholes opened, summoning versions of Charlotte from the infinite universes that exist, as well as a few versions of Charlotte that do not exist because no timeline ever leads to her birth. Not only bestowing upon Charlotte with an infinite army of back-up should she ever require it, these innumerable versions of Charlotte overlapped with the prime Charlotte, removing their separate boundaries as they fused in powers, body, and spirit – those accrued thoughts and feelings became wings that soared towards the future. Without artificial manipulation, upon activating Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence, Charlotte Merquise had transcended the likes of "time" and "space" as the final and greatest evolution. The long history protected by the pro-human dragons with her mother as the leader as their leader is the past, and the relationship built by Charlotte Merquise with Earth Land and the planet's residents in the present. The past guiding the present with its own experiences under its belt, they become the wings referred to as the future which soar towards the "true ending", a world in which peace was finally attained due to her actions and the closing of the myth which would dictate the fate of the dragons, converging into the prime Charlotte. These new hands scooped up the past, these eyes stared through the present, and the draconic wings flew towards the future – all of these versions of Charlotte had walked through different times, and their identical yet dissimilar thoughts and wishes had combined into the ultimate power to save the irreplaceable time, finally bringing the eons-long clash between the malevolent Dragon King whom wields darkness and the benevolent Dragon God whom harnesses light to an end.

Being an embodiment of emotions, Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence is known to possess a myriad of emotion-based attacks, and interestingly enough, with Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence invoked, Charlotte displays an ability not too dissimilar to Black Dragon Slayer Magic's Shadow Erosion property, meaning that she is able to take souls, meaning that this is the only non-Soul Armour-based power which is capable of permanently destroying Hellions as well as remove enemies from the cycle of reincarnation entirely. Now possessing control over time and space, when Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence is unleashed, Charlotte displays the ability to reverse time to the beginning of the battle continuously or use it to attack and move with even more speed, making it appear as if she has defeated her enemy in a single strike – nobody is capable of grasping the countless attacks she unleashes, only witnessing the final blow upon her helpless enemy, moving faster than the speed of light, rewind her own time to the point that she was never damaged in the first place, and sending her attacks through time and space to strike the enemy from anywhere. Summoning infinite amounts of alternate selves from the immeasurable universes that exist, Charlotte can rush her enemy or perform coordinated attacks, as well as wrest control over all elements from other Dragon Slayers. Additionally, just like her mother's Beyond the Dragoascension, when Beyond the Dragoascension: Blazer Dragoon Divergence is engaged, Charlotte displays the ability to summon the Shining Trapezohedron (究極戦刃王竜剣(シャイニング・トラペゾヘドロン), Shainingu Torapezohedoron lit. Ultimate-Battle-Blade-Dragon-King-Sword), the signature weapon of the Dragon of Dragons and a divine sword of ethereal corporeality composed completely out of light.

Allies of Justice

The Allies of Justice (正義の味方「A・O・J」, Seigi no Mikata) were a group of four exceptionally talented fighters whom all grew up in the Chateau des Tiffauges in Four. The quartet ran around the city, destroying what they perceived as oppression and a desire to pull off something big within the city of Four. Tsuruko was one of the founding members of the group, as Charlotte Merquise, her very first friend and only companion for the longest time, decided that they should do something about the polluted state of their home. While they managed to conquer Four, the team later disbanded due to Charlotte's questionable acts, as her personality soon began to change. This led up to an incident where Charlotte attempted to challenge the Magic Council, starting with causing an explosion inside their headquarters in Four, managing to mortally wound a Wizard Saint before Tsuruko came back and stopped her from finishing her enemy off. However, this ended in Charlotte seeing Tsuruko trying to convince the council to let her go, and she mistakenly believed that Tsuruko had her purposely arrested.

Tsuruko Sejren

Charlotte was Tsuruko's very first friend- the two met at the Chateau des Tiffauges in Four; where Tsuruko was taken in by the "nice lady at the orphanage", whom found Tsuruko with her father's Driver Belt. In the orphanage, Charlotte stood up for her as some older children began to pick on her—the two teamed up to fight them off, with Tsuruko accidentally showing her super strength for the first time by crushing a bully's arm with a grab. The two, along with Jack Titus and Carmine Fairchild, founded the gang known as the Allies of Justice, who went around defeating rival gangs and making things safe for civilians.

Tsuruko had a higher respect and concern for Charlotte than Jack and Carmine as she was the only one who stayed when the Allies of Justice went their separate ways due to Charlotte's increasingly extreme behaviour, to the point that she tried to give herself up to the Magic Council in order to save Charlotte from punishment, even if it went horribly wrong. Even after Charlotte returned later on with a major chip on her shoulder against Tsuruko, and attempted to make Tsuruko's life a living hell by harming everyone that she cared about, Tsuruko continued to try to save Charlotte without giving up hope on her very first friend; refusing to take chances to attack her that could prove fatal in their battle even though lives were at stake. During their final battle, as Charlotte almost fell from the skyscraper the two had momentarily landed on, Tsuruko extended her hand to offer her help, hearkening back to the occasion where Charlotte risked her life to save Tsuruko when they were children. However, Charlotte rejected it, and attempted to resolve to send Tsuruko to hell. Even so, however, when it appeared that Charlotte had seemingly killed Hikari, whom Tsuruko had spent the entirety of Daybreak S1 trying to save her little sister, Tsuruko lost control and entered her Deus Machina Mode for the second time, seconds away from savagely beating Charlotte to a pulp before she stopped herself from giving into hate, proceeding to defeat Charlotte on her own terms with the Victorize Kick Version 5, freeing her from the mysterious existence's influence.

By this, Tsuruko's faith in her was shown to be not misplaced as Charlotte used the last of her strength at the time to protect an immobile Tsuruko and Hikari from falling debris by using her body as a shield and in the end, not only did she make peace with Tsuruko, she told her that she had another purpose besides revenge when she accepted the offer of the mysterious figure; long ago, Tsuruko and Charlotte used to fight to see who was stronger, and Charlotte wanted to have one final match with her best friend. Soon after this, Tsuruko and Charlotte fought the mysterious existence together, defeating the demon once and for all with their Victorize Kick and Dragorize Kick respectively, with Tsuruko Sejren and Charlotte Merquise parting on good terms once more.

However, some time later, Charlotte was placed under arrest by the Magic Council for several years of terrorism and assassinations, even though she was under mind-control the entire time. After learning about this, Tsuruko, against the wishes of everyone else, goes to rescue her friend and take her somewhere safe, thus leading to a deadly chase across Era that results in scores of people killed through collateral damage. Tsuruko argues to the council that she isn't to blame for what she did under the mysterious existence's control, Charlotte knows that her brainwashing could be triggered at any time, and she feels she needs to make sure this cannot happen. As a result, Tsuruko becomes a fugitive in her defense of Charlotte, as she displays that she's willing to defend Charlotte's innocence at any cost, so much so that Charlotte herself questions if she's worth the trouble, and nobody but her and those steadfastly loyal to her believe that Charlotte is innocent of the crimes she's been framed for.

Trivia

  • Charlotte is similar to Char Aznable from Mobile Suit Gundam; in fact, she was modeled on the character. Both are mysterious, blonde figures who have a connection to a major cast member and are the protagonist's rival, both are three times faster than the protagonist, and later on, when Charlotte becomes the knight of Tachys, the last Prototype Soul Armour, both use a red machine in combat. In addition, Charlotte's title of "The Crimson Comet" is a reference to Char's title of "The Red Comet".
  • Following Daybreak's tradition of having the main protagonists represent numerous tokusatsu archetypes, Charlotte's powers are modeled after an Extra (番外 / ばんがい Bangai) Hero; whom are sentai-allies who are similar but cannot be classified as such. This is a reference to Charlotte's use of Dragonar Mode to become her Blazer Dragoon form, which is drastically different than the Soul Armour Knights.
  • Just as Tsuruko is meant to evoke Kotaro Minami (Kamen Rider Black) in terms of backstory, Charlotte shares similarities to Nobuhiko Akizuki (Shadow Moon), his rival. Both are destined rivals to the main character, growing up together and being close to the point that they could be considered siblings, until they were torn apart for some reason. In their transformed states, they also sport knight-esque appearances, despite not bearing the title. In the end, both redeem themselves.
  • Charlotte is one of three people in the entire Sun Trilogy to have defeated Tsuruko fair and square, the other two being Kirika and Amadam.
  • Charlotte's knowledge of several martial arts is a reference to the Tohofuhai martial arts used by Domon Kasshu and Master Asia in G Gundam, which, rather than sticking to one particular fighting style, it is constantly evolving and accepts successful elements from any and all known fighting styles.
  • Blonde who's a member of a dying race that also has a special power and is close to Tsuruko...hmm, haven't heard that before.
