Vance "Van" Kervic (バンス「バン」クアビック, Bansu 'ban' Kuabikku) is a traveling mage, and a user of the Lost type of magic, Dragon Slayer Magic, along with his younger sister, Simca Kervic, who also uses Dragon Slayer Magic. He is also an S-Class Mage within the Pantheon Guild.

Vance is a youthful and handsome man in his early twenties with a slightly tanned complexion, and bright burnt orange colored hair that is spiky and messy that sticks up and out at multiple strange angles with two thick strands that hang on either side of his face, framing it, the strands having the appearance of dragon fangs, an ironic yet fitting coincidence. Tall, standing over six feet tall, Vance often towers over most other people often making him more intimidating then he already is. It has been noted that Vance has strange, if not otherworldly purple colored eyes, many who see them often say that they can flicks and flecks of orange and red, sometimes even white, pass through them like snow falling during winter. He is also shown to have two small golden hoop earrings in each ear. As a member of the Pantheon guild, Vance's guild mark is located on his right pectoral muscle.

A well toned and highly fit man, Vance sports a highly toned and built physique to him. Vance has shown to have no unnecessary muscle on him; every potion of his muscle mass is toned to fit his style of fighting and general motions. Having well toned arms, they allow Vance to deliver devastatingly powerful punches capable of breaking stone and steel with ease. Along with his arms Vance has a well toned middle/core section sporting a well defined chest and abs. Lastly Vance has highly defined and toned legs, like his arms they are capable of delivering powerful kicks and stomps, and provide him with the ability to perform powerful leaps, jumps, and dashes in an instant, along with the ability to run and move at blistering speeds.

Apparel wise Vance is commonly seen wearing a pair of jeans as his chosen pants, most of his jeans are often littered with small holes and the knees are often blown out of them leaving holes in them, and a brown leather belt. Having no real preference to his shirts, Vance can be seen wearing numerous ones or varying colors and designs. Along with that Vance is commonly seen wearing a black jacket with white fur lining the collar of it. The jacket is shown to have a flame-like design pattern on each of the upper portions of the sleeves. Finishing off his clothing Vance can be seen wearing a pair of steel-toed boots or combat boots as his chosen footwear.

Personality[]

Vance is rash, hot-headed, and headstrong, often charging into a fight before thinking about things, or thinking things through and while this makes him seem rather simple and single-minded he is slightly more complex than this. Vance is often very blunt in his manner of speaking, such as asking a woman her age, or can come off quite rude, often asking someone if their stupid, but has shown to have a heart of gold. Most times Vance is a happy, bubbly person, often having fun or sparring with his younger sister, or teasing her relentlessly, to his own amusement. He has shown to be not quite as smart as some others, but has shown to be an idiot-savant when it comes to anything that involves fighting and combat, such as picking up on someone's mannerisms in battle. His single-mindedness often shows in obvious ways such as Vance falling asleep when discussing something that he doesn't fully understand, often having to have the person explaining tell him again, only for him to fall asleep again, or for him to have the person explaining dumb things down and tell him in a more simplistic manner. Vance is also shown to have a monstrous will about him, one that prevents him from backing down from any challenge that may present itself to him, only backing down when his instincts tell him that it may result in his ultimate demise were he to accept it.

Vance, despite his seemingly single, simple minded actions and tendencies is shown to be a very good person at heart, often helping those in need, and has shown to never use his powers for his own benefit, such as intimidation of the helpless. Vance is extremely loyal to his friends and comrades, often thinking of them as family and will not hesitate to protect them at the cost of his own peril. Vane has shown though to be the most protective of his little sister, Simca Kervic, often acting comically when others flirt with her, but has shown to become monstrously fierce when any threat or possible harm is directed at her, often changing from his happy-go lucky self into what some call a walking dragon of destruction. Given his personality Vance has shown to almost be incapable of holding a grudge in a normal capacity; he often only holds a grudge against those that have wronged his family or the helpless, but these only tend to hold for a short period of time. Along with his inability to hold a grudge, Vance very rarely ever has any ill-will against anybody, making him seem extremely pure in nature. Vance is shown to have a relatively strong grasp on his emotions, only becoming enraged when his sister, his friends, or innocents are involved, and has shown to have little to no arrogance about him.

Despite being a Dragon Slayer Vance has shown to have a very firm grasp upon his power, unlike some certain others who have let their magic and power go to their heads and ultimately corrupt them, Vance has displayed nothing of similarity to those others, a fact that some attribute to his simpleton personality. Given said simpleton personality, Vance can be described as "a kind in an adults body"; this description is best shown by Vance becoming easily excited at even small happenings and news, much like a child, as well as his quick befriending of children, and most people in general. As stated before, Vance doesn't use his powers for his own benefit, using them instead to help those in need. Along with these characteristics Vance has shown to have almost no arrogance, but his pride at his magical heritage can sometimes be mistaken for arrogance, but eventually turn out to be unfounded assumptions from the other person. Vance also is shown to value life among other things, a trait gained by his dragon parent.

Being a Dragon Slayer Vance suffers from severe motion sickness, becoming sick when riding on anything he deems to be transportation, even when being carried on objects like a stretcher, or even being carried by other people. This degree of motion sickness is even carried over to him becoming sick just by looking at a form of transportation, but has shown to overcome this fault if he doesn't realize that his is riding the object in question or if he doesn't realize that the object is in motion. At the same time, Vance is extremely proud of being a Dragon Slayer and often becomes extremely annoyed when someone either pokes fun at the thought of Vance being taught magic by a dragon, or when pitted against another Dragon Slayer, especially when the Dragon Slayer is unable to prove themselves, essentially letting down their dragon parent. Vance also becomes extremely annoyed at the prospect of a Second-Generation Dragon Slayer who often boasts that they're superior to a Slayer who was taught by a dragon. Like many other Dragon Slayers Vance is shown to greatly enjoy a challenging fight, and greatly enjoys fighting in general.

Despite being regarded as "less intelligent" and "stupid" or a "buffoon" Vance is shown to have a certain amount of maturity about him, but one that often only shows when he is dealing with a serious or highly dangerous situation. Vance is shown to become extremely serious when needed, even if he doesn't quite or fully understand the problem; he is still able to discern the threat that is presented before him.

Dragon's Breath (竜の呼吸, Ryū no Kokyū) also known as Shin'ai (親愛, Parental Love) is the name of Vance's signature weapon, one that is seen so rarely that only a select few even know of its existence. The weapon is the last remaining physical traces of Vance's dragon parent, Driae, the weapon being forged out of her blood, bones, fangs and scales. The weapon in question takes the appearance of an ornate katana with a red cord wrap and sheath, and a distinctive hamon (刃紋, tempering line or hardening pattern), which has the appearance of fangs inside of a dragons mouth. The katana in question is as Vance described it a "one and a half sword", his comment describing the fact that the back of the blade is sharpened half way down from the tip of the blade. The entire sword itself is quite long, measuring more than half of Vance's full height. The blade itself, when drawn, produces its own heat as if the materials that were used to forge the blade were still alive. The blade is exceedingly sharp, being capable of slicing through most objects with ease, as well as the blade being exceptionally durable, being capable of blocking attacks or being struck by an object much heavier then itself without breaking, or even bending. The sword is shown to have a red, teardrop shaped crystal embedded in the tsuba (鍔 or 鐔, hand guard), and another one in the pommel, the crystals actually being a crystallized from of Driae's blood. The blade is shown to enhance Vance's normal Fire Dragon Slayer Magic when channeled through it; Vance is able to channel certain spells throughout the blade and release them from the blades tip. It is also shown that when Vance pours his magical power into the handle of the blade it charges the crystallized dragon's blood, which in turn increases the power of Vance's channeled spells, this enhancement though is not only limited to his spells as the enhancement further increases the blades already tremendous cutting power and durability.

Tekkō (鉄甲, iron, armor)

are a type of gauntlet-like armor plates that serve for both defense and offensive purposes, and are Vance's signature and preferred weapon of choice when fighting. Classified as a "fist-load weapon", meaning that they serve to increase the mass of Vance's hands, given the physical proportionality between his fist's momentum and its mass, allowing for higher powered and heavier strikes. The gauntlet's in question have an aged appearance, showing the wear and tear that Vance has subjected them to. Appearance wise they are a deep red, almost crimson, in coloration, and are wrapped around both of his forearms, where they sit snuggly and are unable to move while Vance is fighting or in motion. Appearing to be made in a plate-mail fashion; this means that they are made of multiple metal plates, four in this case, that are, starting at the one that sits above the top of his hands and going back, are fixated roughly halfway, on top of one another and connected together by small chainmail-like rings and then attached to the rest of the material; in this case, however, Vance's were made to be an almost solid object, with the easiest way of putting on/removing them to be through the usage of Requip. The tekkō, despite their obvious wear and past usage, remain extremely durable, being capable of taking grand amounts of damage, force, and pressure without breaking — their basic design serves only to enhance this as strikes from weapons, or anything really, are commonly and often deflected away from Vance's person. One trait of the tekkō that many are unaware of is that they each weigh several hundred pounds, but this is shown to a moot point given Vance's physical strength. Vance's tekkō are extremely conductive with his magic, being able to withstand the immense heat that is produce by Vance's Dragon Slayer Magic with ease.

Given Vance's primary magic being a form of Dragon Slayer Magic he primarily fights bare handed. Vance has shown to use a free-form style of fighting, often more of an undisciplined street fighter, commonly using his massive physical strength to completely overwhelm his enemies as he completely crushes them, and with an unseen swiftness to his attacks. Vance often uses his upper body to deliver full-body powered attacks, often punches which are powerful enough to destroy solid steel pillars, even without the enhancement that his magic provides. A single strike from Vance in unarmed combat is often fatal, and if the strike doesn't outright kill the receiver it can cause severe internal trauma and multiple broken bones. Given Vance's fighting style he is known for using a highly unorthodox or straight out entirely made up moves in a fight, often these moves being performed on the fly and being completely improvised, most of these moves and techniques being something that a formal teacher would never teach, let alone condone in any kind of practice, making Vance a highly unpredictable fighter and adding to his already deadliness in unarmed combat. It's been stated by many that despite Vance's fighting style that he has always had a natural knack and talent for fighting.

Vance's common form of fighting is a style of street fighting, more specifically a no-hold barred, anything goes style of fighting, one that accentuates powerful attacks, but still holds some semblance of actual martial arts within Vance's motions, most notably in his footwork. Vance has shown to use any kind of attack whether it is ethical or not, such as kicking someone in the groin, or attacking them while their back is turned. Vance often uses his upper body for the most part but will use his legs in order to kick, often aiming at his enemies most vital points such as the head, the solar plexus, or the groin, but will also use his knees, his elbows, or even head-butt his enemies if need be. Vance's style of fighting is a massive amalgamation of fighting styles that was for the most part taught to him by his foster parent, Driae, the dragon that taught him and his sister its signature magic. Vance has also displayed a certain amount of acrobatics in his fighting style such as balancing upon an object with a very small, close to nonexistent, focal point with a high degree of flexibility. One example is the performing a spinning kick from a position more suited to that of break dancing. The total accumulation of Vance's fighting style makes him extremely unpredictable, and thus very dangerous, as well as being considered the bane of a fighter that has had formal training in martial arts.

Vance is shown that despite being a Dragon Slayer and having a quick temper that he doesn’t go gung-ho straight into a fight, unless he is protecting someone. Although, once engaged in a fight Vance is an extremely aggressive fighter, often using his monstrous strength to assault his opposition relentlessly and with the ferocity of an actual dragon. Despite this relentless form of attacking Vance had shown to use his head in battle, often making notes of his opponent’s mannerisms and motions so as to better aid him in a fight. Vance has shown to be an idiot-savant in combat and is extremely aggressive once engaged, often only stopping once he is sure that his opponent cannot continue, but not to a point that he kills them. Vance has shown that despite his street fighter fighting style that he possesses some knowledge and skill of at least a few formal martial arts techniques, namely types of punches, kicks, throws, and a few joint locks, but very rarely displays them, using them only when needed. The primary actions that show that Vance actually does use his head in a fight is his lack of recklessness while fighting, often only doing something reckless when he knows that it will win the battle for him.

  • Shutō: Nadegiri (手刀・撫で斬り, Blade-Hand: Killing Stroke) is an extremely powerful fighting technique, and one of the only named techniques in Vance's arsenal. To use this technique Vance will hold his hand out in a knife-hand shape before simply swinging his hand using it as an actual blade. Given Vance's immense strength, speed, and durability combined with his thick skin he is capable of making a clean cut through objects with this technique. This technique when used by Vance is claimed able to cut through even some of the densest materials, making this technique extremely powerful when used by him. In combination with Vance's natural durability and monstrous strength this technique truly shines; with this technique Vance is capable of using his hands and arms like a makeshift blade, one that is capable of cleaving through dense materials, or objects that would normally harm him upon contact.
    • Sword Pressure (剣圧, Ken'atsu) is an ability usually used by swordsmen who has some skill in wielding a blade; this ability allows the user to use the very air around them to attack and defend with; employed by the swordsman in question swinging their blade with such speed that the air surrounding them is forced away from their bodies and launched forward like a blade that can slice through a myriad of objects from rock and stone to highly dense metals and structures with ease, dependent upon the skill of the user of this technique. While one would assume that Vance having even a novice skill level with a blade would utilize this technique with his blade has disproved this assumption; Vance has displayed his ability to utilize this technique barehanded. By holding one of his hands in a knife edge shape and swinging his arm like a sword Vance can obtain the same results with this technique as a proper user of it would; with a swing of his blade shaped hand Vance can launch the air that surrounds his body forward, giving it an edge and giving it the ability cut.
  • Hammer Fist (削岩機拳, Sakugankiken, Lit; Jackhammer Fist) is a powerful fighting technique at Vance's disposal. To perform this technique Vance must close the distance between himself and his opponent. Upon executing this technique Vance will perform what appears to be a single, simple straight punch, the true effect of this technique happening after a short delay. After striking the opponent they are violently thrown backward and the true nature of this technique is revealed; this technique is used at such a rapid rate that only the most skilled of martial artist or unarmed fighters can make it out. This technique in the instant that the first punch connects is followed by multiple, identical strikes to the same spot like a piston, creating a massive amount of force to that single point, causing an incredible amount of damage to the opponent’s body. This technique is extremely powerful as multiple strikes performed at once can break through a defense in an instant and continue going without stopping. Vance likens this attack to a piston in an engine revolving multiple times a second. Vance has demonstrated his ability to perform this technique with his signature Dragon Slayer Magic's.
    • Ippon Nukite: Tsukiyubi (一本貫手: 撞指, One-Finger Crossbeam Hand: Thrust Finger) is a powerful enhancement to Vance's Hammer Fist technique, one that massively enhances its already considerable power. Unlike the parent of this technique, this one concentrates all of the punches that are delivered by its parent technique into one point and releases them in a single instant; this results in a much faster, more powerful attack that an opponent would have almost no chance of running form or defending against. An alternative method of performing this technique is for Vance to use his index finger to attack with; this is done by Vance extending the index finger of one of his hands before performing this technique; this variation of the technique allows Vance to easily shatter an opponent’s defenses or multi-layered magical barriers without effort.

Novice Swordsmanship Specialist: Vance is shown to have some knowledge and skill in wielding a blade despite it not being his preferred method of combat, in actuality Vance greatly dislikes using a weapon at all, save for his body. Vance is shown to have enough skill with a sword that he's able to hold off and defeat someone with the same level of skill with a blade as himself, but has shown to struggle, or simply resort to his default method of combat against a superior opponent with a weapon. Using his swordsmanship, Vance is able to slice through thick stone and weak metal, as well as having enough skill so as to disarm another of their weapon. Vance's general fighting style with a blade is like his unarmed combat, aggressive and crushing, often attacking relentlessly with his blade until he is able to switch back to a more comfortable method of fighting, that being unarmed combat. Overall, Vance is a novice in swordsmanship and prefers to fight bare-handed.

Physical Attributes[]

Monstrous Strength: Vance, much like other Dragon Slayers has a monstrous amount of physical strength. Vance's physical strength is attributed to the kind of training that his foster parent put him and his sister through, often forcing him to perform push-ups with massive, 300-500 ton boulders on his shoulders, as well as forcing him to drag around leg-iron like balls thought out his entire childhood. This hellish training regimen has increased and built up Vance's physical strength to inhuman levels which allow him to easily destroy stone and metal with his bare hands and with little to no physical difficulties. Given Vance's physical build he is capable of extreme feats of strength. Among his guild, Pantheon Vance has the greatest physical strength, even surpassing the guilds ace Drake Emryst, who's physical strength is largely in part to his primary form of magic, making Vance the physically strongest in his guild. Vance's physical strength allows him to perform multiple feats, including the lifting and throwing of objects that weigh significantly more than he does, often times the objects weighing ten or even hundreds of times as much as Vance does. Vance's strength combined with his hand-to-hand combat makes him an extremely powerful fighter. With his strength alone Vance can cause events in nature that many would attribute to natural disasters, these include the ability to rupture and upturn the ground with a simple stomp, or even a powerful enough punch. Able to produce the same result that would normally take several men with his bare hands, actions such as ripping a limb from another's body, or lifting objects more than twenty-five times his own weight without showing any physical sign of exhaustion or even strain. Vance's physical strength provides the ability for him to simply "crash" through barriers with ease, this even includes regular and magical armors, even ones that are designed to lessen impacts, and defenses become almost entirely useless when Vance adds his Dragon Slayer Magic while fighting.

Monstrous Speed: Vance is known to have a absolutely inhuman amount of physical speed, namely do the kind of physical training that his dragon parent put him through, such as having massive leg-irons strapped to his legs, the leg-irons weighing often times two or three times his own weigh at the time. Another reason for Vance's immense speed is from constantly dodging his foster mothers surprise attacks, he reasoning being that "one must be ready to defend oneself at all times". Vance's immense speed is so great that even extremely well trained soldiers, such as high ranking Rune Knights, and even other S-Class mages can’t keep up, or even see his movements. Vance's speed is often great enough for him to move within his opponents guard before they can react, or even offer up a defense, which often causes his fights to be over before they even begin. While often considered to move in whatever way he pleases, and with no form of actual footwork which is actually incorrect, mainly because a well trained martial artist can see that Vance's motions and footwork actually has, at least a semblance, of actual skill and technique, despite the apparent lack of. Due to his speed Vance often takes the appearance of a blur when moving at his only half of his top speed, and practically vanishes when moving at his full speed, this level of his speed is often considered a form of short distance teleportation by many. With his speed Vance is often able to match and outpace most others, and is more than capable of closing even vast distances between himself and others in moments, often to the surprise of many others.

  • Great Reflexes and Flexibility: Vance along with his immense speed has a high degree of flexibility and extremely sharp reflexes. Vance's reflexes have been trained to the height of human ability and now border on a level comparable of inhuman, to something entirely different, all of this dating back to the constant surprise attacks from his foster mother, the dragon that taught and raised Vance and his sister. Vance's reflexes and his flexibility are extremely well intertwined, often performing a reflexive action using his immense amount of flexibility, such as dodging an attack at the last possible second, and with little time to do so. Able to perform amazing acts of acrobatics with his flexibility, Vance has displayed the ability to balance on small objects with ease as well as launch himself from object to object with masterful balance. Vance is also shown capable of shifting his body into advantageous or protective ways when off balance or in positions that offer no way for him to catch himself in order to protect himself, these situations include falling through the air or being thrown by an opponent.

Monstrous Endurance and Durability: Vance has displayed an immense amount of physical endurance and durability. His endurance allows him to fight for periods so prolonged that most normal, or even above normal, fighters and combatants would have given out long before Vance does. His endurance also allows him to continue fighting even despite severe injuries and mental fatigue. His durability is at level that many consider being superhuman; often taking the most sever of damage and simply shrugging them off as if nothing happened. Vance's durability is attributed to his training growing up under his dragon parent. Along with his durability Vance is noted to have very thick skin, most things such as scratches and small abrasions very rarely draw blood. Vance's durability and thick skin are further demonstrated by his ability to block attacks with weapons bare-handed and without much physical damage, if any at all, such as blocking a sword swing from a master swordsman. Due to the change in Vance's actual physiology, one that caused his body to become more like a dragon in human skin Vance's physical and magical endurance and his physical durability are directly related to it; Vance's thick skin is more akin to that of a dragon's scales which are able to take an immense amount of force without breaking, only an unholy amount of power is even capable of cracking them let alone breaking them. Durable enough to survive events that would cripple or outright kill an average, or even above average person, Vance has survived being attacked head on by his dragon parent, he has survived falls from several hundred meters in the air with only a moderate amount of physical damage, but never anything that would put him out of a fight. Having an immense amount of durability almost every part of his body is enhanced even including his teeth. With his physical and magical endurance is also linked to his change in physiology; because his Magic Origin produces magical power at a faster rate and in higher amounts than a regular person Vance is often capable of simply outlasting his opposition in a fight.

  • Immense Pain Tolerance: Vance along with his monstrous endurance and durability has an immense amount of tolerance towards pain. Vance has shown able to relocate his fingers without any physical sign of discomfort whatsoever, and can even relocate his shoulder without so much as a gasp of exasperation on his part. This tolerance to pain allows Vance to fight despite suffering from grueling wounds that would normally end the fight for others. Vance being the kind of person that he is often ignores a wound even if it might kill him, such as a severed limb; he would rather finish his fight and his pain tolerance does just that. Because of his high tolerance to physical pain, Vance often considers anything less than a shattered bone of severed limb to be of no consequence to him so long as he is able to continue his fight.

Enhanced Smell: Given the fact that Vance is a Dragon Slayer he is known to have an extremely keen sense of smell, one that rivals even that of an actual dragon. Using his sense of smell, Vance can access the level of an individual, and even determine their type of magic, except in the case of most Lost Magic types, this ability being demonstrated in Vance's first meeting with Nikolai Ichor, a trait considered unique to Vance himself. Vance is known to have a sense of smell that’s considered to be on the absolute peak of conditioning, often being able to differentiate and locate a single smell in a place as crowed as the capitol city of Fiore, Crocus. Vance is also able to pick up a scent that has already began to decay with only the most minute traces left over from it, as well as being able to pick up a single scent from several miles away. Vance's sense of smell also allows him to track the direction, speed, and exact distance between himself and a target, even without a single hint of a breeze in the area; this level of a developed sense also allows Vance to smell the change in the currents of air and wind in a large vicinity around him, this is especially true of an opponent who's magic alters the natural flow of these currents. As a Dragon Slayer with one of the highest developed senses of smell Vance has demonstrated that ability to even detect changes to a body on the internal level, such as being able to smell the amount of fatigue toxins that build up in his opposition, an ability that makes him extremely difficult to fight against in a prolonged battle.

Extreme Instincts: Vance is shown to have extremely strong and well tuned instincts, all of which aid him in combat. Vance is shown to have very strong instincts while fighting, such as knowing when to dodge or knowing what the opponent will do next, attributes that only make him even deadlier then he already is. Vance's survival instincts are well tuned to the surroundings at all times and tell Vance when it's safe and when it's not, this instinct allows Vance to tell when he should attack and when to back off. Vance's instincts are at their most attuned when in a fight and allows Vance to perform several different feats that often save his life, such feats include an instinctual knowhow of when to shift his body, feet and stance, knowing when and where to attack, often his opponents weakest spot in that instance.

Enhanced Physiology: Like other Dragon Slayers who were taught magic by an actual dragon, Vance's physiology has been altered to help accommodate his usage of the dragon's magic, in this case becoming more like a fire dragon, these changes include lungs capable of breathing and expelling fire, skin that both exudes and is resistant to fire and inhuman temperatures of heat, a stomach that can digest fire, and a Magic Origin that produces magic at a heightened rate. Vance's physiology was changed in such a way that he is now more like a dragon than a human, and as such has gained a number of physical enhancements aside from the ones mentioned already, some of them include physical strength that surpasses a normal human, even ordinary and above average mages, he has a level or durability and endurance that also surpasses human limits, but these are also attributed to his upbringing and training with his foster mother. His physical enhancements also include some more subtle attributes; the subtle attributes include skin that has an under-layer that is more akin to dragon scales, sharpened, fang-like teeth, especially his canines, and the ability to turn his fingernails into something more akin to that of claws. While these types of physical changes would make many feel superior to normal humans, Vance still thinks of himself as a human, just with a few more perks than others. One of the greatest changes to Vance's physiology is his vision; with the addition of his second Dragon Slayer lacrima his vision has taken a split ability. After the initial change to his physiology Vance was able to see in a thermal vision-like manner which did and still does allow him to focus his eyesight enabling him to visibly see sources of heat. After the implantation of the Dragon Slayer lacrima Vance is now able to refocus his vision to allow him to see area's of low light and total darkness, this ability though causes a visible change in his eyes as his pupils will take on a more slit-like appearance similar to a feline as his pupils will dilate or retract so as to limit the amount of light being take in to them.

Fighting Savant: Vance has proven that his fighting skills are top notch and extremely formidable, and that his intellect is of a lower quality, this is actually only half correct; Vance is shown that while his "book smarts" are lacking, his thought process and intellect are geared more towards fighting, and greatly excels with it. Vance has proven that his combat oriented mind is as formidable as his physical abilities are; because Vance is wired more towards his fighting abilities he has a high degree of perception and a high level of strategic abilities, all of which aid him while actively fighting. Vance's intelligence and knowledge of combat often challenge even long term military leaders in possibilities and actions. The abilities mentioned are most prominent when in the heat of a fight; Vance's motions show that his mind is in a state constant activity as he quickly and rapidly takes in his surroundings, his opponents actions and their consequences, and his own physical state and then allows him to quickly access the situation and formulate the most favorable outcome for himself and his allies. This kind of battle wired mentality combined with his own physical abilities makes Vance a powerful force to contend with.

  • Highly Perceptive Combatant: As stated, due to Vance's combat oriented mindset, he is a highly perceptive person, especially when it comes down to the motions and movements of people — Vance often taking note of how individuals position themselves, the way that they move each of their individual body parts, all of these notes helps Vance determine the level of danger that one will present and helps to dictate his next course of action to take if need be. This high level of perception allows Vance to notice any kind of nervous ticks, or even tell when a person is lying to degree just by their body language. Certain abilities that Vance possess serve to greatly enhance his already great perception such as his sense of smell, which allows him to detect objects that would even otherwise be undetectable, or without a scent.
  • Expert Tactician: As stated, Vance's combat oriented mentality makes him a highly perceptive fighter, but it also makes him an expert tactician — not to be confused with strategy which deals with long term effects — Vance with his skill in tactics allows him to act on the fly, and his physical abilities only enhance this. Able to make snap decisions in the midst of a fight, even against uneven or overwhelming odds, Vance is able to more often than not come out on top with little difficulty, an ability that has aided in his survival throughout his life. With the combination of his tactical sense and his physical abilities allows Vance to preform feats that others would call improbable, if not impossible, mostly associated with this is his physical flexibility and durability.

Indomitable Will: A trait not often seen by others, and only known to those that know him, Vance has a very strong will, one that always drives him forward instead of backwards. Often mistaken for pride, stupidity and ignorance, Vance's will is what allows him to fight as hard as he does and is also what force him to keep getting back up when knocked down; Vance's will mostly stems from his desire to provide for his sister, his only remaining family. Shown in full force when backed into a corner, Vance's will commonly provides the boost to his abilities when his body is at its breaking point, or when faced with certain and utter defeat, Vance's will allows him to push his body to beyond its limits, even at the risk of death, superseding his own pride, and allows him to pull through even the toughest of obstacles/

Magical Abilities[]

Vance has shown to have a truly immense amount of magical power at his disposal, this is further confirmed by his standing as an S-Class Mage of the Pantheon guild. His magical power takes on the appearance of his primary element, fire. Vance's magical power is shown to have a detrimental effect on the environment when released for an extended period of time, as shown by the scorching of the ground and the burning of the surrounding plant life. When released Vance's magical power takes the form of immensely powerful flames that are capable of killing anything that it touches. The flames produced by Vance’s exertion of magical power are powerful enough to cause severe second and third degree burns even when away from Vance when he is releasing his power. Given the fact that Vance's type of magic is a Dragon Slayer Magic he is able to manipulate generated flames from his magical power at will and to an astounding degree of versatility. Due to Vance's primary magical element being fire and flames, when exerting his magical power aside from the flames produced massive quantities of extreme heat is released as well, the heat being high enough to melt surrounding structures. This heat is released when Vance exerts his magic, even when not generating flames in this manner, the heat is still great enough to melt the surrounding. With just his base level of magical power Vance is said to be able to level a large fortified village by himself if he wanted to, and his magical power more than doubles when using his Second Origin.

When released, Vance's magical power has the ability to crack the ground beneath him, but more commonly melts it. Vance has a high degree of control over his magical power, an ability that surprises many, to the point that he is able to use just his magical power to defend against other magical attacks, being able to completely diffuse them with just the release of his magical power. Using his magical power Vance is able to knock out weaker opponents, and paralyze others. Using his magic alone, Vance is able to increase his strength to levels even greater that what it already is. When releasing his magical power, Vance is able to release powerful shockwaves capable of upturning the ground around him, the shockwaves being powerful enough to even disrupt an incoming attack to Vance's person. Being a Dragon Slayer Vance is able to consume his respective element of fire and flames to replenish his magical reserves and to empower himself while fighting. Due to Vance being a Dragon Slayer and the fact that magical power and emotions are closely connected with Dragon Slayers, this causes Vance's magical power to constantly fluctuate, often only growing stronger before returning to its base level; when his magical power rises to its highest it often reaches a point that is between his guilds ace, Drake Emryst and his guilds master Nikolai Ichor

Being a Dragon Slayer, Vance's physiology has been changed into what can be considered that of a dragon in human guise, this means that Vance's physiology is drastically different from a regular humans; the primary differences being that his lungs are able to spew fire and able to inhale it, his skin is more like scales able to withstand extreme temperatures without incident. Along with this change in physiology Vance's Magic Origin is more closely related to that of his dragon parent; this allows Vance to consume outside sources of his element and then convert it into basic Eternano before being absorbed by his Magic Origin, this also means that Vance's Magic Origin produces and absorbs ambient Eternano at a much quicker pace then that of an average mage; due to the change to his Origin Vance's body produces magical power in much greater quantities, almost like a mass produced product, while his Magic Origin produced magic at a massively accelerated rate, often described as a regular wizards with twin turbo-chargers attached to it. All of these attributes of Vance's physiology allows him to maintain his magical assaults for highly extended periods of time. Magic originates from a Magic Origin (魔原, Magen), which is exactly what the wording indicates—it is a special organ that is located within the body of a magician, that absorbs Eternano and bunches it up into clusters, which is processed into magical power.

  • Second Origin Activation (二番原解放, Nibangen Kaihō): Second Origin is a force known as the "second container" of magical energy in an individual. This container exists due to the mage in question constantly, and passively, absorbing a quantity of magic from the environment to renew their original reserves. Any excess is placed within this container and kept sealed until absolutely necessary, or unlocked through a Second Origin Release spell. This Second Origin, when initially activated, places an enormous level of stress on the body unless it is awoken in gradual amounts, as the body isn't accustomed to handling so much magical energy in the body at one time. This can be circumvented by mages with control of their magic, however, allowing them to restore the magical power as a reserve that can be accessed whenever required, therefore providing an extremely useful back-up. Second Origin Activation can only be taken place, as said before, by mages who have control over their own magical energy. It generally only works when one is in a magic-rich environment and has nearly exhausted their initial supplies. By absorbing a copious quantity of magic from the surrounding environment passively (which can be noticed through a tingling sensation in the body), the user's internal reserves can be released at the same time. This, in turn, allows for an immense quantity of magic to replace the initial, depleting reserves. Notably, one can allow the Second Origin to passively increase the quantity of magic that is within it, so long as it isn't used during this period of time, otherwise it has to accumulate magic once again. The overall effects of activating the Second Origin are quite evident: an enormous boost in magical energy, empowered spells, ability to enhance physical strikes with magical reinforcements, temporarily breaking the "laws" of magic with specific equipment, and the rest. Notably, Second Origin is thought to be powerful enough to make a S-Class Candidate become as strong as a fully fledged S-Class Mage, while making an experienced S-Class Mage even stronger. Though it should be noted that most S-Class Mages are nearing this level of magical power in any case.
  • Magical Aura (魔力の霊気, Maryoku no Reiki; Literally meaning Aura of Magical Power) is a common term given to the exertion of magical energy into a form outside of the user's body that isn't used in the formation of spells. It has been demonstrated by various mage's of varying potency, and is a common means of intimidation. A magical aura is created when the body's container of Eternano particles exceeds the limits of what it contains, or is purposefully released by the user. Upon doing so, the magical energy surges around the body and is exerted outwards in the form of an aura, which holds considerable pressure surrounding it. Depending on the level of magical power one possesses and the control behind it, it can be used as a means to intimidate another individual, or as a preparation for a powerful spell. A single magical aura can have a wide variety of effects dependent on the power an individual exerts. A standard aura is produced by mages with a moderate level of magical power within their body. By exerting it outward, it forms a thin layer of pressure that can cause one to be intimidated if they aren't a mage, or if they are a rather weak mage. This is generally demonstrated by individuals of S-Class strength when they are holding back, or when standard mages are showing that they are entering their full reserves of power. It should be noted that the density of this aura, by an S-Class mage, can cause physical attacks to be repelled with notable ease. Vance's Magical Aura is classified as a Monster Aura (未力の魔霊気, Miryoku no Mareiki; Literally meaning Magical Aura of Outstanding Power), as it is classified, is the strongest classification of aura to date. Only extremely powerful mages are capable of this aura, and are generally Guild Aces, if not masters. Upon release, the magic almost consumes the user in their color, leaving nothing but a phantom-like apparition to remain. It should also be noted that the aura is far wider, and is generally uncontrolled by the individual. However, "Monster" auras aren't limited to intimidation, and can be used for the preparation of a spell. This was demonstrated aptly by Jellal Fernandes in his activation of Sema, which caused the environment to become distorted due to the sheer level of magical power concentrated in the atmosphere thanks to his release of power. It is also worth noting that the pressure exhibited from such an aura can form a large column of energy, leaving the pressure enough to visibly cause strain on individuals even from a considerable distance away from the exertion of the aura, indicating at the sheer level of power within this aura.
  • Aura Synthesis (オーラの合成, Ōra no Gōsei)

    is a Subspecies Magic, a type of both illusionary and magical skill technique used only by First or Third Generation Dragon Slayers bringing out the illusion of what it seems to be a real dragon’s aura, scaring and nearly paralyzing the opponent due to the immense amount of aura thrown at them. By giving shape and size to his aura, the user expands his aura until a certain distance giving it any shape he desires such as a sphere or just a normal aura, by then, anything that enters the area covered by the aura which can be invisible will be felt by the user of it, yet this is very tiring to be kept for so much time since it drains so much Eternano to keep it, some expert and master users of this magic are able to extend it to a very big distance, with the highest being so far 200 meters depending on the shape of the aura. A much faster version is available; by quickly gathering and then rapidly releasing their aura, the user creates an explosion of magic that can affect both those who were hit and were not hit by the burst, causing them to begin seeing the appearance of a dragon to the side of the user that can inflict sever psychological effects on those who were and were not hit, scaring and possibly paralyzing them due to fear of a dragon that isn't there but was made using the users aura. It is described as the power which imitates real Dragon's immense magical aura, however many Dragon Slayers aren't capable of using this, for using it, they must've at least have a immense magical power and a immense physical durability and endurance for their body to resist the deploy of so much magic and for their magic to don't go off too quickly, it seems only First or Third Generation Dragon Slayers are capable of using it because they are the only generations which experienced a Dragon's presence in the past. It is also shown that the aura casters Dragon Slayer element may play a part in his the aura acts or interacts with the environment. Given that Vance is a natural Fire Dragon Slayer, his second element coming from an implanted Lacrima, his Aura Synthesis creates an area around his body that has an increased amount of heat when compared to the rest of the surroundings. By creating a half dome and projecting it forwards, Vance is able to control the direction of the heat produced by his aura, with the temperature increasing the closer one gets to Vance's person; the change in temperature increases by a few degrees every few feet that closer one gets to Vance, with the temperature around Vance being roughly two hundred degrees F when standing right next to Vance, not enough to scorch the ground or overtly harm the surroundings, it is enough to cause extreme discomfort to those that get close to Vance. Often using this ability as a form of intimidation when not wanting to release his magical power, Vance often shapes his aura into a wall or wave that is projected only as far as needed, or shaped into a spike when needing extra distance, the spike being able to go at least three hundred meters, but this is when Vance's aura is shaped like an increasingly small spike the further it gets away from Vance. When releasing the full force of his aura, Vance's aura takes the appearance of a large dragon-like creature, one with ten eyes, five going along either side of its face with spikes coming off of its back, down its tail, and along the joints of its wings. The creature has a single, large spike-like fang protruding from its upper jaw, and has a multitude of tendrils acting as its tongue. This ability was first discovered by Vance at a young age, when he was about fifteen or sixteen, in an attempt to ward off wild creatures in the same manner that his foster parent, Driae, used to.
  • Expert Eternano Manipulation: Is probably the most basic skill any mage worth their salt needed to have skill in in order to fight using magic, and Vance is no exception. Being a wizard, and especially a Dragon Slayer, a wizard that has their magic ingrained in them on a much deeper level than an average mage would Vance has an excellent amount of control over his magical power which allows him to utilize it outside of casting spells. As a wizard Vance can freely mold and manipulate his magical power outside of his elements such as using nothing but his magic as an offensive or defensive tool by releasing it in the form of shockwaves that can cause significant damage to the surroundings or that can disrupt and ultimately diffuse an opposing attack. With the manipulation of his magic Vance can add or subtract as much power in a spell as he needs to allowing him to either strengthen it or reduce its power. Along with the control of magic within his own body Vance can manipulate the particles of magic that are in constant supply in the atmosphere known as Eternano allowing him to use the abundant magical particles to strengthen himself and his spells along with his ability to actively absorb them into his body to refill any missing or expended magical power on his part. While not as skilled in the manipulation of these magical particles as others may be Vance has managed to make due with his level of skill in this area of magical combat.
  • Heat Resistance: Given the fact that Vance is a Fire Dragon Slayer his skin is almost completely immune to all forms of fire, with the notable exceptions being flames of a higher tier than his own, such as flames from a God Slayer or fire that is of a temperature that is much greater than what he is able to produce himself through his magic. This resistance to heat makes him extremely effective when fighting against most normal, average Fire Magic users, as he can withstand the flames as well as consume them. This resistance not only pertains to fire, but magic's like Light Magic and Lightning Magic which both produces thermal radiation, basic heat based magic's; this resistance even allows Vance to simply walk through fire without the chance of harming himself.
  • Cold Resistance: Do to Vance being a Fire Dragon Slayer, and his body having been changed physiologically to become more similar to that of his dragon parent Vance's body stays at a much higher internal temperature and as such he is shown to be immune to the cold. This resistance is only applicable when comparing natural weather and normal forms of Ice Magic and Ice-Make magic as Vance can be frozen and unable to melt the ice of a higher tier compared to normal ice, such as ice from a God or Devil Slayer Magic user. With this resistance to the cold, Vance can survive regions of the world with the harshest of freezing temperatures, and can even survive being frozen completely with magic.
  • Poison Resistance: Do to Vance's younger sister being having a Poison Dragon Slayer Lacrima implanted in her as her second Dragon Slayer element Vance is shown to have a high immunity to most poisons produced by said magic, and as such can resist most lower-tier poisons as well without much problem, but can still be brought down by higher-tier poisons. Because of this resistance, and the fact that Vance's sister can create a multitude of different poisonous and toxic substances with her magic it makes afflicting Vance with any kind of poison almost completely futile. With this resistance to poison, Vance's body produces antitoxins at a rapidly enhanced pace when faced with any new type of poison and quickly renders them inert and harmless.

Dragon Slayer Magic[]

White Fire Dragon Slayer Magic (白火の滅竜魔法, Hakuen no Metsuryū Mahō) is a type of Lost Caster Magic, as well as a type of Dragon Slayer Magic and lastly is a Dual Element Dragon Slayer Magic, in this case Fire and White Dragon Slayer Magic's. Unlike most other Dual Element Dragon Slayers, this type, while normally separated, allows Vance to fuse the two elements together in his body allowing for far more powerful and devastating attacks. The generated fire can be freely manipulated and allows for different "attributes" or "types" of consistencies, such as giving the fire the ability to grasp an object without burning it, or giving the fire a "blunt" effect along with the natural effect of burning the target. The fire has a controllable temperature, and can be hot enough to evaporate all moisture in an area, or even melt extremely strong Ice Magic. Given that Vance is a Dragon Slayer this means that he is able to consume other sources of his respective element; this is done by drawing the element, fire in this case, into his mouth before "swallowing" it, an act that allows him to rejuvenate himself, such as healing fatigue, replenishing his magical reservoirs, and empowering himself, but he is unable to consume the fire and flames that he produces himself. Like many other Dragon Slayers, Vance's emotions play a part of in their power, the greater his anger or his desire to protect the more powerful his magic becomes.

Due to Vance's original element being fire and the physiological changes that were needed to take place in order for him to learn such magic Vance now has certain traits of a fire dragon; these traits include the lungs of a fire dragon that can breathe scorching fire, fire dragon scales that can produce fire and can be touched by fire without burning, and the claws of a fire dragon that can burn and scorch anything they rake across. The fire generated and released by Vance's Dragon Slayer Magic is extremely powerful, able to melt stone and earth into molten slag in seconds and reduce metal, including that strongest of metals, to a molten puddle in only minutes. The fire can and will scorch anything in its path, before reducing its target to ash, and can reduce even objects that don't melt to ash in only a seconds worth of time. Vance can ignite anywhere on his person with fire and flames in an instant, and can change his entire person into fire in order to fight, or just to dodge an attack. Just simply the intense heat produced by the flames are enough to ignite the surrounding landscape, and by generating internal flames Vance can release the immense heat from his body creating a barrier of sorts. Most of Vance's attacks, even when not using any particular spell cause huge wakes and waves of fire to trail after them often acting as a second and third follow up attack, the flames crashing into a target and the heat that soon accompanies it, an effect that even makes dodging an attack dangerous. The flames produced by Vance's Dragon Slayer Magic is extremely difficult to extinguish, as even extremely powerful Water Magic users or even water based Slayer Magic users have difficulties putting out the flames produced by Vance, this attribute makes Vance extremely difficult to fight against. Most of Vance's fire based spells are often either a three-fold or four-fold attack at once; the first portion of a three-fold attack such as his roar, is the force of the fire and flames themselves being released and striking the target followed by the burning of the element and then finally the wake of heat that followed behind that; the four stages of a four-attack such as Vance's Iron Fist spell is impact and transfer of force from Vance himself, followed by the usually blunt nature of the flames in such attacks, then the burns that would occur from the flames making contact and lastly is the wake of heat that would quickly follow such attacks. The flames are also extremely aggressive towards its targets, often chasing them and refusing to go out until their target is reduced to nothing more than ashes. The flames produced by Vance are also extremely greedy, often using any source of magic to fuel itself, including the abundant magical power in the surrounding air or even another person’s magical attack to fuel itself; Vance's fire is only increased in its destructive abilities when combined with the magical power of his implanted Lacrima. Vance often uses his flames to enhance his physical properties including his strength, speed and durability considerably.

Vance's secondary, and what makes him a Dual Elemental Dragon Slayer, in the power of an implanted Lacrima holding the power of White Dragon Slayer Magic; this implant having taken place only a few months after the death of Vance's foster parent who told him and his sister about the other types of elemental dragons. The light produced by Vance's secondary element has a "holy" or "pure" feel to it as if it were a "light of justice". The light produced by Vance has a "blunt" and "piercing or drilling" effect to it, as well as an "explosive" effect to it after having been trained with for many years by Vance. The light produced is extremely bright and is capable of blinding others, often acting as a good distraction allowing Vance to finish his enemies off. The light, like his fire can be produced from any part on his body, and can be used to enhance his physical attributes, often used to enhance to power of his strikes exponentially. Also like his fire, Vance is able to change his entire person into light allowing physical attacks to simply pass right through him without harming him, this also allows Vance to travel at very high speeds in a very short amount of time. Also like the fire aspect of his magic Vance's light leaves wakes of concussive and explosive light in the path of his attacks; even if one were to dodge the initial attack the trailing light will slam into the opposition before exploding; even most of Vance's light based spells have a multi-hit effect, the initial impact, the increased concussive force of the light, the explosion that will more than likely occur, and then the wave of heat that will follow all of that. Much like his flames and normal Light Magic, Vance can give his produced light a material consistency allowing him to grab objects, in this case it is much easier and safer to do so as not to accidentally burn his enemies, only if his intention is not to. The light produced by Vance's secondary element is often better suited for the more intricate uses, while his flames are more suited for all-out destruction. Like his natural element, Vance is able to consume other sources of light to replenish and energize himself, but contrary to what others would believe, Vance is able to consume sources of light that are not as bright as what he produces, as he is able to consume something as intangible as sunlight, this is done by his apparent grasping of the air (light) before consuming it through his mouth, this process causes a visible change in the direction of the light to those that observe this process.

The fusion of Vance's elements in white flames is shown to produce an element that easily surpasses each individual element, especially regular fire and flames. As stated before, Vance's two elements naturally fuse inside his body before expulsion which makes his combined element much more powerful than many other elements that are born in this manner. The combination of Vance's two elements, his fire and light increase his abilities exponentially, his flames now having a much more powerful blunt effect and now have the piercing/drilling effect to them, but the most powerful effect is that the white flames produced by the fusion of the elements causes the fused elements to actively seek out and destroy magic that has a malefic nature to them, such as Darkness Magic, or creatures that have a malicious nature to them, such as Demons, or people with dark and evil intentions; the white flames attack these targets with the same ferocity and aggression that Vance's normal flames do. This effect to the new white colored fire and flames comes form the "pure" and "holy" feeling that light has; this effect upon the fire causes those that see this "evil destroying" effect to dub the white fire with the name of Seika (聖火, Sacred Fire), and by extension some have also dubbed the names of Vance's fused spells as Sacred Fire Dragon's (聖火竜の, Seikaryū no). Like both of his individual elements, Vance's attacks with the unionized element leaves trailing arcs and wakes of white flames in their path. Like with the individual parent to this element, Vance can transform his body into a mass of white flames, allowing physical attacks to pass through him, as well as being able to travel at high speeds. Vance is able to give his fused element a material consistency, able to shape the white flames into a myriad of forms, even having the ability to make them explode upon command. A unique ability to his white flames is that Vance can control the fusion, and thus the synchronization of the two elements, either strengthening them or weakening them. The white colored flames produced by the fusion of Vance's two elements blunt effect is roughly doubled from what each element can produced by themselves while have a burning effect that is roughly one and a half times stronger than the normal flames produced by Vance, and the heat produced by the white flames is four times hotter due to power of the flames and light, which releases radiant thermal energy.

    is the basic "breath" technique of the Dragon Slayer Magic line, and the first spell taught by dragons to humans. This spell while the first, and most basic, is still extremely powerful, often times being able to be charged or held before releasing it. Vance starts by gathering an immense amount of fire in his mouth before expelling a massive amount of fire in the direction that he is facing, the flames being extremely hot, and capable of immense amounts of destruction. This spell has two forms of execution, the first and more complex involves Vance to put both of his hands in front of his mouth, giving him the appearance of a trumpeter, before expelling the fire in between his hands creating a thin stream of fire which then rapidly expands, and the second method is simply gathering the fire into his mouth and expelling it; the second method is also much faster, having cut out any complex, and unneeded motions. Vance's "Roar" is extremely powerful, being capable of destroying multiple buildings in a single attack, and can reach temperatures of upwards of fifteen hundred degrees Fahrenheit, and is capable of melting stone into molten slag, as well as being able to effectively vaporize organic material in only seconds. The most powerful aspect of this spell is its versatility, the user, Vance in this case, is able to manipulate the shape, power, range, and temperature of this spell, but in the case of the latter the maximum temperature of this spell will never exceed fifteen hundred degrees. Like most other Slayer Magic users, Vance can alter the trajectory of this spell by turning his head while releasing it to cause it the arch.
    • Fire Dragon's Devastation (火竜の荒廃, Karyū no Kōhai) is much more powerful version of Vance's traditional roar technique, the comparison of this spell versus the Fire Dragon's Roar is often compared as this spell is like a shotgun going off in someone's face, while the Fire Dragon's Roar is like shooting someone far off with a rifle. To use this spell Vance gathers a massive amount of fire inside of his mouth before expelling a monstrous volume of fire from his mouth at point blank range at his target. The full amount of fire and flames produced by this spell are said to be able to cover and destroy a full sized town or city in only a matter of moments, due to the sheer volume of flames produced and the sheer heat of the flames, these flames being roughly twenty-two hundred degrees Fahrenheit. This spell is often times Vance's preferred spell do to it being stronger than his normal roar, and because it can end a fight in one hit if the target it hit at point blank range. This spell unlike its parent technique, the Fire Dragon's Roar, this spell is meant for pure destruction and nothing more.
    • Fire Dragon's Infernal Roar (火竜の炎殺大火咆哮, Karyū no Ensatsu Taika Hōkō Lit; Immolating Conflagration Roar) is the most powerful version of the Fire Dragon's Roar spell in Vance's arsenal, and is a spell that has enough power to be considered on par with his Ultimate Art. Before even attempting this spell Vance must retain at least ninety-five percent of his max magical reserves, otherwise he needs to release his Second Origin to use this spell. When attempting to use this spell Vance will inhale a large quantity of air similar to his other roar spells, but this is where any similarity ends; during his initial intake of air Vance will begin to create his flames in his lungs as he continues to take air into his body; after taking in as much air as he can Vance's chest, stomach, and cheeks will rapidly and forcefully inflate and expand, and flames will now leak out of Vance's mouth as a result. When Vance has gathered enough fire in his body, signified by his body looking like its going to pop like a balloon and flames rapidly leaking out of Vance's mouth. When ready to release this spell Vance will open his mouth as the pent up fire and flames are ejected from his body like a cannon, spreading and consuming everything it its path. Once cast, Vance has absolutely no form of control over it; this spell being of the magnitude of power that it is nearly unstoppable; the only speculated way of stopping this spells path of destruction would be for multiple masters of Nullification Magic to act in coordination to stop it, and even then they would be unable to stop it completely. Due to the force that this spell is released it rapidly gains speed and doesn't stop; the sheer force of this spell being cast was enough to break Vance's jaw on his first attempted use of it. The true power of this spell causes it to constantly absorb eternano and magical attacks, fueling it further; this spell is even shown to be able to completely overpower other magic's that should be of a higher magnitude of its own, such as God Slayer Magic. The fire released will continue to reduce everything it touches to less than ash and doesn't differentiate friend from foe, or any living thing for that fact. The only person to have observed the power of this spell firsthand described it as "hell being unleashed" and vast quantity of fire and flames is described as an "ocean of fire". Despite the tremendous power of this spell it also carries equally as devastating effects to Vance. The first and foremost weakness of this spell is the time it takes to gather the needed magical power, often ranging from five to ten minutes or more, and as such Vance often needs the support of a teammate to use this spell. The second glaring weakness of this spell is the sheer magical drain that Vance suffers, often only being left with enough magic so as not to die; along with the magical drain Vance suffers extreme physical drain and commonly collapses after using this spell, being bed ridden for several days after.
  • Fire Dragon's Fist (火竜の拳, Karyū no Ken) isn't a spell per se, but the broad name for multiple other spells that involve igniting one's fists with fire.
    • Fire Dragon's Iron Fist (火竜の鉄拳, Karyū no Tekken) is the first of Vance's Fist spells. To use this spell Vance will start by igniting his fist(s) with his flames before he charges at his enemy in an attempt to fight hand-to-hand with his fist(s) aflame. This spell is often times mistaken for Vance simply fighting with his body, namely his hands, while they are on fire, instead of actually using this spell. When this spell strikes its target combined with Vance's monstrous physical strength, this spell has a very large amount of knock-back to the opponent, often capable of launching them several meters backwards, along with the severe burns centered upon the impact point of the hit. Vance has shown to have another way of using this spell, his alternate usage is to let the spell "charge", this is done by compressing the initial ignition of flames down onto the hand he is using this spell in, creating a very thin, opaque film of flames around his hand. After this is done Vance will ignite his fist again, being careful not to let the already compressed spell to decompress, with the flames surrounding his fist getting hotter and hotter upon every compression. Vance can perform this compression of spells five times at the current moment as any more would possibly cause severe damage to his arm or worst it could cause all of the compressed flames to explode outward.
    • Fire Dragon's Exploding Fist (火竜の爆拳, Karyū no Bakuken) is an alternate to Vance's Fire Dragon's Iron Fist. To use this spell Vance starts out similar to his Iron Fist spell, igniting his fist(s) aflame, but to use this spell Vance is required to it at least once before its usage, otherwise it is just a normal Iron Fist spell. The difference in this spell to its counterpart is that upon impact the target is sent flying backwards, with the impact point still lit aflame, before the flames upon the impact point completely surround the target and explodes in a violent blast. The preparations also act as an effective fake-out do to the casting of this spell being extremely similar his normal Iron Fist.
    • Fire Dragon's Blaze Eruption Fist (火竜の炎花拳, Karyū no Enkaken)

      is a powerful spell, and the strongest of Vance's basic Fist spells. When preparing this spell Vance will channel and gather his fire upon one of his hands, coating it so completely that his hands cannot be seen anymore, this act causes his hand to take the appearance of a large inferno held in his palm. When ready to enact this spell Vance will charge towards his target with the intention of letting his fist connect with them. If his strike should connect with its intended target, the inferno that is this spell will explosively erupt forwards, enveloping its target, incinerating it into ash. This spell is vastly powerful, and is among the most powerful of Vance's basic fire spells. A note about this spell is that it cannot be charged like his other two Fist spells can. Vance has also demonstrated his ability to cast this spell with each hand, and the effects of this spell when both hands are used against a single target are monstrous.
  • Fire Dragon's Gun (火竜の火銃, Karyū no Kajū Lit; Fire Gun)

    is considered to be Vance's signature Fire Dragon Slayer spell. While a simple enough spell to cast it carries a tremendous amount of power. To perform this spell Vance will gather an immense amount of fire on one of his hands, slightly similar to his Fire Dragon's Iron Fist spell. Once enough fire has been gathered Vance will hold his hand out, pointed at his intended target, but will very seldom make a punching motion with his hand, which then releases the gathered fire forward in a fashion almost identical to that of a dragon's roar. The fire released by this spell is extremely hot, and can melt metal in only seconds due to the extreme heat of this spell. Vance is shown able to use this spell in rapid succession. This spell can be controlled allowing Vance to create a thin stream to a large wave of flames, similar to his roar.
  • Fire Dragon's Compression (火竜の圧縮, Karyū no Asshuku) also called Fire Dragon's Flame Bathing (火竜の焔入浴, Karyū no Ennyūyoku) is a supplementary spell created by Vance in order to increase his power without the need to activate his Drive or Dragon Force abilities, this spell enhances all of Vance's physical attributes; his physical strength, speed, endurance, durability, pain tolerance, and his magical abilities. This spell is similar to the "charging" ability that Vance has developed for his Iron Fist spell. Vance will start by releasing his magical power in the form of his flames from every point on his body before manipulating it and compressing it down onto his body creating a thin film or armor like layer of fire around his entire body. Again, similar to his "charging" of his Iron Fist spell Vance will exert more magical power in the form of his flames from every point on his body, being careful not to break the already established layer of fire around his body before compressing the second release of magical power. Vance has displayed the ability to repeat this process ten times, with each compression roughly doubling his strength for every compression, effectively increasing his abilities by twenty times the norm for him. The most obvious and biggest glaring weakness of this spell is the time it takes to repeat the process, even repeating it five times takes a considerable amount of time, but the enhancements to Vance's abilities often times outweighs the long preparation time. The other drawback to this spell is that he is limited to only five minutes when using this spell to its fullest, but can increase the time in this state by decreasing the number of repeats that he performs of the compression process, with him able to last upwards of ten minutes when only at five repeated compressions. Vance is also slightly limited to the types of spells he is able to use in this form; most physical attack spells, such as his Iron Fist, Exploding Fist, or Sword Horn, take advantage of the "armor" of flames surrounding his body by rapidly decompressing the flames surrounding his body before recompression them, while spells like his Roar, Devastation, or Gun, which release the flames from his body consumes the compressed magical power of this spell, often causing the flames surrounding his body from this spell to seep back into this body via his skin to use the latter of spells.
  • Fire Dragon's Magma Point (火竜の溶岩点, Karyū no Yōgan-ten) is a unique Fire Dragon spell, even for Vance. To use this spell Vance is required to either stick his entire hand(s) into the ground, or one or both of his feet. Upon inserting the required appendage Vance will release an immense amount of fire into and through the ground in order to melt the underground rock and sediment, turning it into magma like consistency, before using his fire to force it through the ground and up underneath his opponents, causing a volcanic style eruption to occur. This spell often makes his opponents think that his is a Fire and Earth Dragon Slayer, but only if they haven't actually seen his secondary Dragon Slayer element. Vance has also shown able to melt the underground rock and sediment, before melting the uppermost layer of earth, creating a massive field of fire and lava.
  • Fire Dragon's Stamp (火竜の切手, Karyū no Kitte) is a spell developed by Vance in order to both attack and defend in extremely close range engagements, and as such Vance will only use this spell when his opponent(s) are exceedingly close to his person. To perform this spell Vance will concentrate his flames into one of his legs, often making sure his enemies don't see it, before bringing his foot down in a powerful stomp which creates his magic seal on the ground below himself and his enemy, which then releases the concentrated fire in his leg upward in a massive pillar of flames causing a massive amount of damage to the enemies caught up in the pillar.
  • Fire Dragon's Axe (火竜の斧, Karyū no Ono) is another self made spell that Vance has in his arsenal, as well as being one of his signature spells. To use this spell Vance concentrates an immense amount of flames into one of his feet before bringing said foot straight up into the air before bringing his leg down in an axe kick. Upon his foot toughing the ground beneath him the concentrated fire is released in a powerful blade shaped stream of fire that will shoot straight forward in the direction that Vance is facing in an attempt to slice and burn anything in its path. Vance has also shown able to release this spell in the form of a bladed shape or fire by performing different types of kicks upon the releasing this spell. This spell is most often used when Vance and his sister are fighting the same opponent; Vance's sister having a spell used to immobilize the opponent allowing this spell to fully connect. Due to Vance's unorthodox fighting style this spell often becomes extremely effective; Vance is able to use this spell when both of his hands are occupied Vance can still attack with his legs.
  • Fire Dragon's Spear (火竜の槍, Karyū no Yari) is another one of Vance's self made spells. To use this spell Vance concentrates a massive amount of flames into one of his palms before dashing forward at high speeds toward his enemy. Upon reaching his enemy Vance will attempt to press his blazing hand into the enemy’s torso, or a joint, before releasing the concentrated flames which have an immense amount of penetrating power, often leaving a gaping, hand sized hole in the enemy’s body. Vance also a second way of performing this spell, often referred to as Fire Dragon's Twin Spear (火竜の双槍, Karyū no Sōsō), by concentrating flames into both of his hands he can attack a single target, often leaving a massive, gaping hole in the enemies body, or can attack two targets simultaneously, so long as there within close proximity to one another.
  • Fire Dragon's Grip Strike (火竜の握撃, Karyū no Akugeki) is one of Vance's Fire Dragon Slayer spells, and is his closest range fire spell. To perform this spell Vance will grab his target firmly, so as not to let them escape, before he braces the arm and wrist that he has his target securely detained with. From this point Vance will release a massive amount of explosive fire from the hand he has gripped onto the target with at point blank range, causing immense damage to them, along with severe burns. The flames produced by this spell are extremely hot, reaching temperatures upwards of 2,500 degrees F. This spell is extremely powerful do to the very close proximity that this spells activation takes place in as well as the extreme temperature of the fire and flames produced by this spell.

White Spells[]

  • White Dragon's Roar (白竜の咆哮, Hakuryū no Hōkō) is the signature "breath"

    technique of White Dragon Slayer Magic. Despite Vance's natural element being fire he is able to access this type of magic thanks to the Lacrima implanted inside his body. Used in the same capacity as his Fire Dragon's Roar, Vance starts by inhaling and gathering the white light produce by this spell inside of his mouth before exhaling, releasing the gathered energy into a extremely and highly concentrated beam of white light in the direction that he is facing. This spell is extremely powerful, even despite the magic energy coming form an implanted Lacrima, and due to the fact that Vance has had many years of training with this spell, having had the Lacrima implanted at a relatively young age. Like his Fire Dragon's Roar this spell is released in one of two ways, but unlike his Fire Dragon’s Roar the produced spell is entirely different; the first method releases the light in a tornado-like fashion which has an immense amount of power, being capable of slicing through the ground and building alike with ease, and the second method simply releases a powerful laser beam-like blast of light that can have its trajectory altered at Vance’s will. Much like his other Dragon's Roar, this spell is extremely versatile, Vance being able to manipulate the size, shape, range, and trajectory of this spell with little problems.
    • White Dragon's Holy Breath (白竜のホーリーブレス, Hakuryū no Hōrī Buresu) is a seemingly more powerful version of Vance's White Dragons Roar. Performed in the exact same manner as the standard "Roar", this version releases a much more powerful beam of white light in whatever direction he is facing. This spell has a much greater amount of destructive power and generates a vastly greater amount of heat than Vance's normal roar of this element. The overall power of this spell is capable of leaving a "U" shaped chasm in its wake. This spell is often times compared to his Fire Dragon's Devastation spell because both are a more powerful version of the elements "Roar" spell.
  • White Dragon's Iron Fist (白竜の鉄拳, Hakuryū no Tekken) is a basic White Dragon Slayer spell. Performed in almost the exact manner as Vance's Fire Dragon's Iron Fist, Vance will begin by gathering white light upon one or both of his fists before attempting to strike his opponent with a punch. Upon Vance making contact with this spell the opponent is assaulted with not only the blunt force of Vance's punch but the blunt force that the White Dragon's light normally causes and is thrown backwards by a small, powerful explosion that adds to the already inflicted concussive force. This spell can cause a tremendous amount of blunt damage, especially when combined with Vance's monstrous physical strength, this combination having the potential to kill an enemy. This spell is shown to be a three-layered attack; the first layer of the attack is the blunt, concussive force of the initial strike, followed by the explosion that launches the target backwards adding to the concussive force and is finished off by a wake of heat from the light can cause severe burns upon the impact point. This spell is shown to be a commonly employed spell by Vance among his White Dragon Slayer spells
    • White Body Iron Fist (白体の鉄拳, Hakutai no Tekken) is a strange, yet surprisingly effective variation of Vance's regular White Dragon's Iron Fist spell. To begin this spell Vance will first transform his entire body into his white light, charging at his opponent at a high speed after doing so. Once within a reasonable range to his target Vance will rapidly force the light that was his body only moments ago to his fist, returning his body to its corporeal form in the process. Once this is done Vance will instantly focus and harden the light around his fist before punching forwards, using his previous momentum to accelerate his attack forward, striking his target with extreme blunt force, this spells power combined with its momentum has the potential to destroy an entire wall of a heavily fortified fortress in one hit. After making contact with the target Vance will cause the ball of light that is now his fist to explode forward sending both him and his target in opposite directions.
  • White Dragon's Claw (白竜の爪, Hakuryū no Tsume) is a close range spell which is described as being a "holy attack" of White Dragon Slayer Magic. To perform this spell, Vance starts by generating and gathering his white light into the palm of one of his hands, before he thrusts said hand forward in the direction of the target, which releases a blast of white light forward. If the blast connects with the target it will then form a complex marking (a so-called "Stigma") on the targets body. This "stigma" hinders the targets movement completely, leaving them open to further attacks. This spell is extremely difficult to fight against, and is completely impossible to block against, meaning that the only way to avoid this spell and its effects is to dodge its blast.
  • White Dragon's Scattered Light Fang (白竜の散光牙, Hakuryū no Sankōga) is an offensive White Dragon Slayer Magic spell in Vance's arsenal. When casting this spell Vance will channel white light into the tips of his fingers on one hand and draw a circle of light in the air before him, placing the same hand in the middle of the circle once finished. After crafting a circle Vance will pour magic into it causing it to glow brightly for a moment before it fades; after the light fades multiple lines will form from the center outwards along the now disk of light before Vance before releasing multiple blast of light in a cage-like formation. Each blast created by this spell travels at a high velocity, has a great amount of penetrative power and each generates a spell explosion once penetrating something. Due to the formation that this spell is released in makes dodging somewhat difficult. Vance has also shown able to cast this spell from his back, allowing him to defend against a surprise attack.
  • White Dragon's Sword (白竜の剣, Hakuryū no Tsurugi; alternately Hakuryūken) is another close range spell of White Dragon Slayer Magic. To use this spell Vance starts by pointing one or both of his hands outward and will channel his white light into his hand('s) which stabs outward in the direction of the outstretched fingertips in the rough approximate form of a blade. As the white light gathers and grows it starts to take the shape of a sword made of white light, and once the length of the blade is to his liking Vance will compress the light and stabilize it, creating a solid blade of white light. The blades formed by this spell are capable of an immense amount of cutting power, often comparable to that of a lightning enhanced weapon attack, but the white light swords have a secondary effect, which is if they cut through a flesh enemy it will also burn and essentially cauterize the wound do to the thermal energy generated by the white light.
    • White Dragon's Cleaver (白竜の包丁, Hakuryū no Hōchō) is a variation of Vance's White Dragon's Sword spell. To perform this spell Vance starts by bringing his right arm into his left side while placing his left hand on his right elbow in a position similar to that of a lock on a tension spring. After assuming this position Vance will begin to gather his White Dragon Slayer Magic on his right arm before releasing his left hand and swinging his right arm, releasing the gathered magical energy forward like a blade at high speeds. This spell is extremely powerful and is capable of slicing through a number of materials, magical and non-magical alike with ease.
  • White Dragon's Silver Gun (白竜の銀銃, Hakuryū no Ginjū)

    is one of Vance's most commonly used White Dragon Slayer spells. To perform this spell Vance will position one of his hands (or both) in the rough approximate shape of a gun, either with just his index finger, or his index and middle fingers pointed outward and the rest curled into his palm. From this position Vance will gather white light at the very tip of his finger, or fingers, the number directly affecting the power of the spell. After gathering the white light at his finger tip Vance will release the magic forward like a bullet, similar to Bullet Magic. The blast released by this spell is extremely powerful, capable of penetrating magical armors and barriers with ease.
    • One Finger: The normal White Dragon's Silver Gun shot used by Vance. This shot is weaker than his two fingers shot; this version fires a small but highly concentrated beam of white light from Vance's finger tip. This version only uses Vance's index finger.
    • Two Fingers: Is the more powerful version of Vance's White Dragon's Silver Gun spell. This version uses Vance's index and middle fingers as the focal point for the spell. This version is considerably more powerful than his one fingered shot, having the potential to destroy a large building in one shot.
  • White Dragon's Breakdown Fist (白竜の内訳拳, Hakuryū no Hōken) is an offensive White Dragon Slayer spell. To use this spell Vance will begin to concentrate his magical power into one of his arms, usually his right, concentrating and compressing the magic until the desired amount of magic is gathered in his arm. After gathering the needed magic Vance will make a punching motion with the chosen arm, launching the stored magical power forward in the shape of his fist at great speeds that will explode upon contact with the intended target. This spell has a considerable amount of power behind it, being able to demolish a large, multi-storied building with ease. The explosion created by this spell along with the power of the actual explosion causes severe blunt force damage as well.
  • White Dragon's Holy Lance (白竜の神鎗, Hakuryū no Shinsō) is a powerful spell in Vance's arsenal and is the spell with the highest amount of penetrative power of his White spells. The casting of this spell is exactly like his White Dragon's Breakdown Fist spell; Vance will begin by bringing his right arm up with his fist closed into a fist before he begins to gather white light into his fist and forearm, concentrating and compressing the magic until the desired amount has been gathered. Upon reaching the desired amount of magical power in his arm Vance will then shape the magical power in his fist into the rough shape of a spiral lance before making a punching motion. Upon making the needed punching motion the stored magical power will shoot forward at great speeds with the intention to impale a target; the unique shape of the spell, a drill-like shape, allows Vance to break through armor and magical barriers by twisting his wrist and arm causing the spell to rapidly rotate like a drill and punch through any resistance.
  • White Dragon's Flash Step (白竜の瞬歩, Hakuryū no Shunpo) is a powerful supplemental spell of Vance's. Upon casting this spell Vance will stand on the balls of his feet as he gathers white light into balls stationed upon the arches of his feet. Once this is complete Vance will step down onto one of his feet which will instantly propel his forward at blinding speeds in whatever direction he is facing. This spell allows Vance to close distances almost instantaneously; this spell propels Vance forward at speeds of 250 meters per second (560 mph). The primary drawback of this spell is that Vance normally can’t change direction once moving, but has found a way around this; using the second ball of light Vance can change direction even while airborne by using the ball of light to kick off of the air at the same speed. This spell allows Vance to make a quick escape when needed or to change position quickly in order to setup another attack.
  • White Dragon's Boundary Wall (白竜の白断結壁, Hakuryū no Hakudan Keppeki Lit; White Severing Boundary Wall) is another supplemental spell in Vance's arsenal. Vance will begin this spell by gathering white light and magic into both of his hands before placing his hands against the ground—this send the light through the ground towards Vance's target. Upon the light reaching its target it forms a single square beneath them, the formed square will then glow for a brief second before four small pillars of light erupt from the ground and spread out forming a box around its target, trapping them inside. Once trapped within the confines of this spell it is exceptionally difficult to escape; escape from the inside is almost useless unless the targets magical power is greater than Vance's own, otherwise the only means of escape is through dissolving the barrier from the outside by a third party or by a third party defeating Vance in combat. This spell allows Vance to remove an opponent from a fight, or allows him to retreat, or set up a stronger spell against a stronger opponent by trapping them inside this spell, even if it is only for a short time.
  • White Dragon's Vanguard (白竜の前衛, Hakuryū no Zen'ei) is one of the strangest of Vance's spells, as well as being one of his least used in combat. The preparation of this spell varies depending upon Vance's immediate surroundings; when presented with an area out in the open and teeming with natural light Vance can make use of it while expending a minimal amount of magic, but in the case of an area that provides little to no natural light Vance must utilize his own light. Whatever the case may be the end result is the same; when presented with no light Vance must first expel an extremely abundant quantity of white light from his body before utilizing Shape Transformation to mold the expelled light into the shape of armor-clad warriors made of light before finally stabilizing the light into a completely solid construct. These "warriors" commonly referred as White Guardians (白護憲, Shirogoken) follow commands given by Vance via a telepathic connection, attacking, defending, or providing general support to Vance as he fights; the warriors can be crafted into a large variety of shapes and forms and be crafted with a variety of armaments that only end with Vance's imagination. Each of the constructs are rather durable capable of taking a large amount of damage before eventually failing but this also depends on their primary function; an offensive construct will have greater attack power and lower durability while a defensive one with a crafted shield will have greater durability than others. Each one is exceptionally fast as well, but still lag when compared to Vance's own speed. Each construct though can have their purpose determined by an enemy by the type of armament that that they are crafted with. Each individual "drone" as Vance sometimes refers to them as also has a considerable amount of offensive capabilities, often able to slice through stone and metal with ease, as well as each of them putting off a significant amount of heat.
  • White Dragon's Cloak (白竜の外套, Hakuryū no Gaitō) is a spell similar to that of Vance's Fire Dragon spell, Fire Dragon's Compression. To perform this spell Vance releases white light from every portion of his body creating a glowing white cloak of magical energy on his body. This spell acts as both a defensive shroud and as an offensive weapon, the defensive properties are quite obvious. The offensive applications to this spell allow Vance to extend the magic comprising the cloak beyond the norm for Vance; this includes allowing Vance to grab objects way beyond his normal reach. Vance is able to create a multitude of physical extensions from this cloak, such as creating multiple arms from one of his shoulders made entirely of magic, of creating a large dragon-like claw capable of extending a large distance to grab or attack with.
  • White Dragon's Explosive Light (白竜の発光, Hakuryū no Hakkō) is one of Vance's most lethal White Dragon Slayer spells. To perform this spell Vance will begin by creating a small orb of light in one, or both hands, slightly smaller than the size of a golf ball before charging at his target. Once within range of his target, Vance will attempt to press his hand(s) to the targets mouth(s), forcing the ball of light down their throat. Once they have "ingested" the ball of light Vance can cause the swallowed light to rapidly expand and explode from within their body, killing the target instantly.
  • White Dragon's Purge (白竜の消去, Hakuryū no Shōkyo) is a special, supplemental spell of Vance's. This spell is meant to purge another form of magic from Vance's body, such as poison, but has the ability to purge his body of someone's control through the use of magic's such as Telekinesis as well. This spell is an extremely useful one in Vance's arsenal; this spell often acts like both a supportive and semi-healing spell. This spell is shown to only work when Vance is under what one would call a "status effect", such as suffering from poisoning or is under the physical control of magic's such as Telekinesis. To perform this spell Vance must have some form of physical or magical affliction; once under this affliction, Vance will, using the magic imbedded in the Lacrima that was implanted in his body, will push the White Dragon Slayer Magic throughout his body via his veins, using the magic to "purge" his body of the affliction, such as when poisoned, or under an affliction such as Telekinesis, Vance will push the magic throughout his body before releasing it from every potion of his body in an attempt to break the magical connection between the Telekinesis magic and the magic caster. This spell is shown to have diminishing returning effects when purging Vance of the same affliction, such as poison or paralysis.
  • White Dragon's Wings (白竜の翼, Hakuryū no Tsubasa)

    is a completely supplementary White Dragon Slayer Magic spell. To perform this spell Vance will expel a large amount of white light from his back before molding the light into the shape of large, white colored wings. The wings created from this spell are extremely durable, capable of taking hits without breaking, and allows Vance the ability to fly to a certain extent. The flight capabilities granted by this spell allows Vance to hover, but can perform more complex flight abilities at the expense of more magical power.
  • Holy Ray (ホーリーレイ, Hōrī Rei) is White Dragon Slayer Magic spell in Vance's arsenal. To perform this spell, Vance will first enter a crouched position, although this is optional in his case, before he generates and gathers white light into his hands. After gathering the needed light Vance will open his hands, launching a massive, shotgun-like volley of homing beams of light at his target, causing a significant amount of damage to the target. This spell has an incredible range, and has an even greater usage when combating multiple opponents as this spell has a very wide dispersal pattern allowing it to attack multiple targets at once.

White Flame Spells[]

  • White Flame Dragon's Roar (白火竜の咆哮, Hakuenryū no Hōkō)

    is the exclusive "roar" of the White Flame Dragon, usable through the implantation of either a Fire or White Dragon Slayer Lacrima. As a White Flame Dragon Slayer, Vance has access to this spell incorporating both of his elements, Fire and White Dragon Slayer Magic's into one attack. To perform this spell Vance will draw upon the implanted Dragon Slayer Lacrima in his body as he mixes the white light from his Lacrima and his natural fire in his mouth as he inhales deeply. After mixing the two elements in his mouth Vance will exhale, or "roar", releasing the generated elements in a highly destructive, flaming beam of white fire at his intended target. This spell is shown to not only cause severe burns but blunt force trauma and damage, often causing both at the same time. This spell has two forms of execution, the first and more complex involves Vance to put both of his hands in front of his mouth, giving him the appearance of a trumpeter, before expelling the fire in between his hands creating a thin stream of fire which then rapidly expands, and the second method is simply gathering the fire into his mouth and expelling it; the second method is also much faster, having cut out any complex, and unneeded motions. Vance has shown to be able to change this spells method of casting, meaning that he can release this spell in the form of a tsunami-like wav of white flames, or this spell can be released in a searing laser-like beam of white flames, the latter having exceptional penetrative power. This spell is shown to be exponentially more powerful then Vance's regular Fire or White Dragon's Roar spells, and is even significantly more powerful than his upgraded spells, his Fire Dragon's Devastation and White Dragon's Holy Breath spells. This spell is shown capable of destroying a small village in one usage, and destroying a significant portion of a moderately sized town. While initially only being able to use this spell once a day, after years of training Vance has gotten to the point that he is able to use this spell up to five times in a single battle, depending upon how much magic he has already expended. Upon reaching his limit with this spell, Vance will usually collapse from exhaustion.
  • White Flame Dragon's Firing Hammer (白火竜の撃鉄, Hakuenryū no Gekitetsu) is an extremely powerful White Flame spell in Vance's arsenal. To perform this spell Vance will generate his white flames onto his right hand and forearm, completely engulfing it in white flames. Vance will then proceed to make a punching motion, sending the white flames around his hand and forearm forward with an immense amount of force. Upon the white flames striking the target, they will force them backwards, causing both blunt damage and causing severe burns to the enemy’s body. Vance has shown a slight variation of this spell; Vance will instead of generating his white flames already combined he will generate his two elements, white light and fire separately, along his hand and forearm, the white light in front of the fire. Upon making the needed punching motion, the white light will be launched forward first followed a few seconds later by his fire. The light will slam into the target, sending them backward from the blunt force, followed by the flames, which will cause the two elements to mix upon reaching each other, before exploding violently. This spell carries an immense amount of destructive power behind it, being capable of destroying a large, multi-storied building with little effort.
  • White Flame Dragon's Iron Fist (白火竜の鉄拳, Hakuenryū no Tekken) is a basic spell among Vance's White Flame spells. When using this spell Vance will ignite his fists with his white flames before charging towards his opposition in an attempt to strike them. This spell is shown to have an incredible amount of blunt force behind it, enough so as to completely shatter a diamond hand substance without any visible effort whatsoever. This spell along with its immense blunt damage also inflicts severe burns to the targets when making contact. Due to the explosive property of the white light combined with Vance's physical strength this spell also tends to cause an extreme amount of knock-back, often sending an opponent several meters backwards. This spell is shown to work greatly with Vance's strength; a single strike from Vance when using this spell can completely level a battlefield, upturning the ground and clearing away any debris all from the shockwave that is produced by this spell. In combination with Vance's own physical strength, and the boost to his strikes that this spell provides, Vance is able to easily bulldoze through practically anything that stands in his way, as well as the heat produced by this spells element quickly and efficiently burn through defenses such as barriers and the like. This spell is also often delivered at such blinding speeds that most are unable to defend against it.
  • White Flame Dragon's Firing Hammer Fist (白火竜の撃鉄拳, Hakuenryū no Gekitetsuken) is a powerful combination of Vance's White Flame Dragon's Firing Hammer and Iron Fist spells. To preform this hybrid spell Vance will begin by bringing his right hand and forearm up, holding it at eye level as he channels an abundance of white flames around his fist and forearm, concentrating the bulk of it around his fist and elbow. After gathering the needed magic Vance will dash forward at incredible speeds, leaving a trailing stream of white flames from his elbow in a cylindrical, piston-like shape before arriving in front of his target within a blink of the eyes time, and will deliver an earth shattering punch to his opponent, cracking the ground beneath them and stunning them for a few moments. After the initial strike connects and his opposition is stunned the trailing flames will be rapidly pulled back towards Vance slamming into his target, sending them crashing backwards with an enormous amount of force. Due to the speed that this spell is preformed at it often creates a vacuumed, slipstream-like effect on Vance's person increasing the speed that this spell is delivered at, as well as causing violent tornados of howling wind from the instant change in air pressure around his body. This spell like all of his other spells causes a multi-layered effect, in this case the first layer is extreme blunt force trauma from Vance's punch, severe burns from the short, but prolonged contact of Vance's fist to the target, then followed by a second assault of blunt force and more burns from the mass of flames that crash into them and lastly a wake of scorching heat that often lags behind the spell. The only true downside to this spell is that Vance has difficulty changing direction once in motion.
  • White Flame Dragon's Sword Horn (白火竜の剣角, Hakuenryū no Kenkaku)

    is a powerful offensive White Flame spell that Vance uses. To perform this spell Vance will release his white flames from his entire body, covering himself in them before launching and propelling himself towards his opponent in an attempt to head-butt them. Upon a successful usage of this spell, Vance's enemy would be hit with a powerful amount of blunt force from both the head-butt itself and the magical enhancement of said head-butt, but the enemy would also suffer a sever amount of burns to their body from the extremely hot white flames that cover Vance during this spell. This spell also acts as a pseudo-defense from attacks; due to the extreme heat that is generated by Vance's white flames, anything foreign that makes contact with the flames that cover Vance while using this spell will be incinerated into nothing. It's shown that even if the flames that cover Vance when preforming this spell are somehow evaporated Vance will continue with his initial charge which can still do a large amount of blunt force trauma because of the speed at which Vance moves during its use. Vance has displayed a smart addition to his usage of this spell; right at the moment of his kickoff from the ground to initiate his flying charge towards his opposition he will position himself in such a way that upon his kick off he can rapidly spin his body — this allows Vance to mold the white flames covering him through this spell to take upon a pointed-lance/drill-like shape. Once the spiral shape is achieved by this action Vance will commonly maximize his enhancement of his white flames penetrative power allowing him to easily punch though any obstacle, like an armor piercing bullet. This addition to this spell has earned it the name White Flame Dragon's Spiral Horn (白火竜の螺旋角, Hakuenryū no Rasenkaku)
  • White Flame Dragon's Brilliant Flame (白火竜の煌炎, Hakuenryū no Kōen)

    is a powerful White Flame spell that Vance has access to. To perform this spell Vance, using his Fire Dragon Slayer Magic, will engulf his right hand in fire and his left hand in white light from the magic of his implanted Lacrima, before he slams the two elements together with the enemy in between then, the contact of the elements creating a massive explosion as a result. This spell inflicts both powerful blunt, concussive force from the light, and extremely high temperature fire from both the flames of the Fire Dragon Slayer Magic and from the explosion and the light, the latter’s case being released in the form of thermal energy. This spell is tremendously powerful, able to kill in an instant, and is also difficult to directly defend against.
  • White Flame Dragon's Explosive Line (白火竜の破壊線, Hakuenryū no Hakai-sen Lit; Destruction Line) is a strangely unique White Flame spell in Vance's arsenal. To perform this spell Vance will inhale a large volume of air, similar to one of his roar spells. Upon inhaling a sufficient amount of air Vance will exhale, releasing a thin white line of magic from his mouth. Once the "string" of magic is sufficiently long Vance will snap his teeth together, similar to striking two flint stones together. Upon Vance striking his teeth together the "string" of magic will expand slightly along its entire length before violently exploding into a massive blast of white flames along its entire length. This spell is extremely powerful and is capable of destroying a very large area.
  • White Flame Dragon's Scales (白火竜の鱗, Hakuenryū no Uroko) is the most unique White Flame spell at Vance's disposal. This spell is often considered not a White Flame spell at all, being more along the lines of a simple combined spell. To perform this spell Vance will first expel his regular flames from his body before compressing them against his skin by a layer of white light creating a highly brilliant light being emitted from his body. The "scales" created by this spell are extremely volatile; once an attack makes contact with Vance's White Flame Scales the layer they create violently explodes off of his skin in a burst of white colored flames. Because of the way this spell works it is more closely compared to a type of reactive armor; armor that instantly reacts to outside stimuli. While the defenses created by this spell do detonate upon contact should someone fight through it the "scales" created are immensely durable and take a tremendous amount of force to actually break, let alone destroy.
  • Firefly (爆発光炎, Bakuhatsu Kōen Lit; Detonating Light Flame) is a powerful white flame spell of Vance's. When preparing to use this spell Vance will bring his hands together, but not touching, as a perfectly round ball of white light forms between his hands roughly the size of a basketball. The ball of white will expand to roughly twice its size before it begins to release small perfectly circular spheres of white that float around the battlefield, illuminating it as the small orbs created appear like fireflies. While seemingly harmless at first as they have no reaction to Vance's presence, simply hanging in the air like candles, they are often pushed aside as Vance makes his way through them as he continues his regular combat activities. Only when Vance's opponent steps to close to on of the lights or touches one does this spells effect become apparent; upon getting to close to or touching the light they will rapidly expand back to the initial size of the ball of light that spawned them before exploding in a shape charge manner, the explosion of white flames is directed towards the unlucky. This effect, however, doesn't effect the rest of the floating lights as they stay in their floating, armed state until an enemy approaches. This spell is extremely effective when Vance is faced both with one opponent or many as it creates a veritable minefield that must be avoided while the opposition must also divide their attention to Vance himself who can resume and maintain his normal, previous assault on his enemy.

Advanced Spells[]

Dragon Slayer's Secret Art (滅竜奥義 Metsuryū Ōgi): These are the most powerful spells taught to a Dragon Slayer. These spells often require a certain condition to be met before they are usable or require between a large or enormous amount of magical power to perform and as such are often used when a Dragon Slayer is nearing the end of a battle or have no other option. These spell sometimes also carry sever repercussions or have some form of backlash such as sever exhaustion or in the most extreme of situations, death. These spells are exceeded in power only by a Dragon Slayers Ultimate Art, a spell or spells that often mean certain death if performed incorrectly. These are Vance's Dragon Slayer Secret Arts.

  • Scorched Heaven: Spiral Spear Fang (焼天・螺旋槍牙, Shōten: Rasensōga) is Vance's most commonly used Secret Art, often considered to be the weakest and the one that carries the least risk to Vance. To perform this spell Vance will begin by releasing a large amount of fire and flames from his body, enough to significantly damage the surrounding landscape. Once enough fire has been expelled from his body Vance will charge his opponent in a fashion not unlike if he were using his White Flame Dragon's Sword Horn spell while he rotates his body, spinning the released fire and flames creating a swirling, drill-like shaped vortex of flames before crashing into his opponent body. After making contact with his opponent Vance will then precede to angle himself, and his opponent, upwards launching them a few meters into the air before sending his opponent further into the air, still lit ablaze before they explode. Do to the nature of this spell; it has a considerable amount of penetrative power, as shown by it penetrating Nikolai Ichor's telekinetic armor, a relatively difficult feat.
  • Scorched Earth: Blaze Sprouting, Explosive Sword Edge (焦土・炎花爆発刀刃, Shōdo: Enka Bakuhatsu Tōjin)

    is the most powerful fire element Secret Art in Vance's arsenal. To begin this spell Vance will expel a large volume of fire from his hands, forearms, and elbows before he charges his opponent, striking them multiple times, each hit resulting in a small, fiery explosion upon contact and each successful hit causing Vance to produce more fire from his arms. While this barrage of attacks can be dodged it usually proves futile. After a sufficient amount of attacks from Vance, he will proceed to strike his opponent once more, this final strike being much more powerful than the previous onslaught, this attack being powerful enough to stun his opponent for a few moments. In the short period that his opponent is stunned, Vance will release a massive amount of fire from his entire body before pressing his hand to the ground and channeling his fire into it. After channeling his fire into the ground Vance will release all of his pent up fire from the ground, releasing a powerful shockwave that destroys anything near its release point before a massive amount of red fire erupts from the ground beneath Vance's opponent in the shape of katana's tip. The red fire will then detonate, resulting in a truly massive explosion that can be seen for miles.
  • White Lotus: Twin Lights Under Heaven (白蓮:雙灯下天, Byakuren: Sōtōkāma) is a Dragon Slayer's Advanced Art belonging to White Dragon Slayer Magic. This spell is exceptionally powerful, but is rarely used by Vance despite this as he says the spell is "unusually cruel". When beginning to cast this spell Vance will assume a stance of holding his hands out and his elbows bent as an orb of light is gathered in each of his palms rapidly expanding and compressing multiple times over drastically increasing the density of the gathered magic. Once the process of expansion and compression is over Vance will prepare himself to use this spell — Vance will extend both arms out at his sides as the orbs or light change shape, each transforming into a large lance shape before being launched in either direction, often confusing the target. After launching both of the orbs, now lance's, will curve in a "U" shape and converge upon the target upon either side, trapping them in place from the sheer density of the magic. After his target is trapped Vance will rapidly gather more light upon both hands before launching numerous more lance's of light, each one striking the target, wedging themselves into any crack and crevice as the original two lance's start to form a spherical prison around the target. With each new lance that strikes the sphere it slowly compresses, crushing the trapped within with high density light and unearthly pressures until the targets basic figure can be seen. From this point the sphere will rapidly expand and violently detonate without breaking the expanded dome now before Vance, having a highly contained explosion. After the explosion had ended the dome containing it will shatter like glass to reveal the damage done; as the shattered dome fades away a large crater is left in the ground and the opposition is usually wiped out of existence, if used against someone capable of withstanding the explosive force and pressure exerted by this spell they are often left beaten, broken, and maimed. Due to the effect of this spell Vance rarely uses it due to its apparent "cruelty".
  • Scorching Heat: Immolating White Flame Dragon Wave (猛暑・炎殺白火龍波, Mōsho: Ensatsu Hakuenryūha)

    is the strongest of Vance's advanced arts, and is directly below his ultimate arts in power. To perform this spell Vance will generate his white flames on one of his hands, right usually, shaping them into a moderately sized dragons head once enough flames have been gathered. After forming the dragons head on his hand Vance will thrust his hand forward in a punching-like fashion which sends the dragon screaming forwards, leaving a trail of white flames in its wake giving the appearance of a Chinese dragon. The dragon's head when launched acts like it has a will of its own, dodging and weaving, avoiding any obstacle that may stand in its path of its target. Once reaching its target the dragon’s mouth will open like it's trying to consume the target, but will only trap them within its jaws. After capturing the target the dragons head will seek out a solid structure, such as a building or rock face, to slam its captured target into, if not it will rise into the air. Upon finding a solid structure to strike the dragon will seemingly breath fire, the trailing body of flames rush out of the dragons mouth creating the appearance that it is breathing fire, which will cause severe burns to the opponent before the rest of the dragons apparent body rushes towards the head crashing into the captured target before exploding into an extremely violent explosion of white colored flames. This spell is shown to carry an absolutely monstrous amount of destructive power, often times comparable to one of Vance's ultimate arts.

Dragon Slayer's Ultimate Art (滅竜極義, Metsuryū Gokugi): The final art taught to a Dragon Slayer by their dragon parent, this set of techniques is meant to be used on death-situations only do to the overwhelming power and magic drain of such a technique. Do to the sheer power of such a spell if one is used in a battle, especially when used in conjunction with Dragon Force or Draconic Sovereign it could potentially become life-threatening to the user of the spell. Usually a normal Dragon Slayer can have up to one spell which matches the number of their elements, one, even though some can achieve Dual Element Dragon Modes they can't create another spell out of it, with that only the genuine Dual Element Dragon Slayers are capable of doing so. Vance stated that he once had an Ultimate Art for both of his elements, but both have since fused to create a dual element Ultimate Art.

  • Firelight: Twinned Punishment of Heaven and Earth (火灯・天地の双殛, Katō: Tenchi no Sōkyoku) is the most powerful spell in Vance’s entire arsenal. This spell is the result of Vance's ultimate fire and white arts fusing together. To begin this spell, Vance will gather his two elements, fire in his right hand and light in his left hand, concentrating them to an extreme degree, compressing most of his magic into two spheres of orange and white in each hand. Once a sufficient amount of magic had been gathered between Vance's two hands he will begin to release equal sized orbs of orange and white, representing his two elements respectively, around his opponent until they're completely surrounded by the orbs. Once his target has been surrounded Vance will mentally command the spheres to rapidly rush towards the opponent; the orange orbs explode in a reactive-armor like fashion upon making contact with the target, while the white orbs cause a powerful blunt, concussive explosive-like effect when making contact, the touch sensitive effect makes physically blocking this onslaught impossible unless one isn't worried about the explosion that occurs when the orbs are touched. The true power of this spell is not from the individual attack, but from the continuous bombardment of the two different colored orbs which can attack from any and every angle conceivable and with such speed that the opponent doesn't have any chance to evade or block the attack. This spell can continue for as long as Vance has magical power, he can continue to create the orange and white spheres, but this spell is shown to be a very rapid drain on Vance's magic reserves. Often times Vance will finish this spell by creating as many spheres as his remaining magic will allow before causing every remaining sphere to converge upon the target resulting in a tremendous explosion to occur that can be seen for miles, and releasing a massive shockwave and earthquakes that can be felt for an equal distance that the explosion can be seen for.

Drive[]

Drive (ドライブ Doraibu): Drive, a Subspecies Magic, is a type of Magic-amplification technique used by Third Generation Dragon Slayers that brings out the true power of their capabilities as a user of Dragon Slayer Magic, excluding the power boost granted by Dragon Force, yet, at the same time, seemingly enhancing the user's physical prowess to a degree, particularly the user's speed. The Drive spell is exclusive to Third-Generation Dragon Slayers; and as the name indicates, it is activated via some kind of mechanism; in this case, Drive is initiated by harnessing the power of the Dragon Slayer Lacrima which is embedded within the user's body. Upon command, the Lacrima begins to distribute the Dragon Slayer Magic Particles stored within the crystalline orb at a swifter pace, accelerating the output and flow of magic from the Lacrima to the user's body in order to enhance all of their fortes, increasing the strength, speed, and potential that the user possesses tenfold, allowing them to take on even foes much more powerful than themselves; entering a state of enhanced awareness and peak physical ability as their element cloaks around them. While in this state, the user demonstrates heightened reflexes and extremely quick information processing, and it amplifies the powers of their Dragon Slayer Magic without exhausting themselves. This state grants the user the ability to perform new spells; as well as making their pre-existing spells far more powerful, with various users only employing several skills only while in Drive. The Drive spell harnesses "the power that kills Dragons"; at least according to the words of the first users, the Sabertooth Twin Dragons; whom are actually noted to be rather weak compared to their First-Generation counterparts. However, in the hands of an actually capable Dragon Slayer, the Drive spell would be capable of allowing the user to dish out some serious damage. In the case of a Dual Element Dragon Slayer, who are modified Third Generation Dragon Slayers; the Lacrima embedded within their body would only enhance their natural element (aka the one taught by the dragon).

  • Flame Drive (フレイムドライブ, Fureimu Doraibu)

    is Vance's exclusive version of the Third Generation Dragon Slayer's Drive due to the Lacrima that is implanted within their body. Upon activating the magical item that has been forcibly pushed inside of his body, Vance will forcefully push fire and flames throughout his entire body via his veins in massive amounts to the point where fire starts to coat Vance's skin creating a dense coat of fire and flames on his body and releases so much heat that small mirages can be seen. Vance in this state has such a massive boost in all of his basic parameters that it seems like he has become someone else entirely. Vance's physical strength as at a level that even objects considered indestructible shatter like glass, and with the boost in his already tremendous physical speed combined with his enhanced awareness most things look like their moving in slow motion to Vance. Not only is Vance's physical attributes brought to their peak, his magical attributes are greatly enhanced as well. Vance's already immense magical power is enhanced to rather astonishing heights, to the point that even his sister couldn't recognize it. Vance, do to having had his Dragon Slayer Lacrima implanted into him at a relatively young age has had years to practice and hone his use of the Drive ability. At first Vance struggled to maintain the immense magical output that his ability caused and was unable to control the amount of magical power that was consumed by even the most basic of spells, this often resulted in Vance using up nearly all of his magical power in that one attack and Drive deactivating. After extensive training over a number of years Vance is able to activate and maintain his Flame Drive for at least eight and half hours straight, originally being able to only hold this form for a few minutes at best.
    • Fire Dragon King's Mirage (火龍王 蜃気楼, Karyūō Shinkirō) is an extremely powerful spell that is a constant, yet passive ability, that is activated as soon as Vance enters his Flame Drive. This spells allows Vance too consciously, and unconsciously, create mirages of him using the immense heat that is produced by his Flame Drive for defensive and offensive purposes. This ability, unlike a cloning ability that some mages can perform, being able to create a physical clone that can attack, the mirages allow Vance to move around the battlefield while retaining a small sense of defensive security, allowing him to confuse his opponent(s) while remaining secure, if only for a short time or to only a small degree. The images created by this spell are extremely detailed and life-like, making it extremely hard to tell the difference between a mirage and the real thing. The mirages also tend to last, often times remaining until attacked, as well as mirroring Vance's movements to a degree, making them even more life-like.

Dragon Force[]

Dragon Force (竜の力(ドラゴン・フォース), Doragon Fōsu lit; Dragon's Power):

Is an advanced Dragon Slayer ability that Vance is able to achieve, but often only uses it when absolutely necessary. Considered the strongest transformation that a Dragon Slayer could achieve before the revelation of Draconic Sovereign, Dragon Force causes Vance's body to transform into a humanoid dragon, often considered a dragon in human form, it drastically boosts Vance's entire set of physical and magical abilities to their absolute highest peak when activated, often said that it puts him on par with a real dragon in abilities. Do to being a Third-Generation Dragon Slayer Vance is able to activate his Dragon Force at will, but Vance has said that could achieve this transformation before the implantation of his Lacrima, an unconfirmed statement. As a Dual Element Dragon Slayer Vance's Dragon Force often acts differently than that of other generations; when activated Vance's two elements start fusing creating bluish-white colored flames instead of the regular solid white color to surround his body as well as his hair changing to a blackish color. The bluish-white flames constantly pour from Vance's back and often leave massive trailing wakes of fire and flames when he moves, often described as "a tsunami of fire" by those that have seen this form. While in this form Vance acquires a mouthful of dragon-like fangs and slightly elongated fingernails or in this case, claws. An interesting note, the flames produced by Vance's Dragon Force often seek out malefic natures and people of its own accord, and is extremely potent against demons. Do to the power increase that Vance goes through when using his Dragon Force those that have seen it and lived often call it the Advent of the Fire Dragon King (火竜王の降臨, Karyūō no Kōrin). As stated before, Vance's abilities are increased dramatically, his already monstrous abilities become superhuman or even demonic to some, his magical power now simply radiates off of him in an aura-like fashion. When using his magic in this state Vance's spells are of such a boosted power that they are considered new spells altogether. Similar to his Drive ability Vance's strength, speed, endurance, and durability are vastly increased, Vance is now able to take punishment two or three times what he could before its activation and can dish out a comparable amount in this form as well. Ultimately, this is a transformation that most wish Vance never needs in a battle.

  • Enhanced Magical Power: Vance is shown to have a massive increase to his magical power while using his Dragon Force. The increase to his already immense amount of magical power is extremely large, his magic now being on a level more comparable to that of a member of the Wizard Saints, albeit the bottom of the Saints. This increase in magic allows Vance to perform immensely more powerful spells, as well as the sheer pressure alone being enough to damage an opponent, even one of comparable power to Vance in this state. This boost also greatly affects Vance's Aura Synthesis allowing him to exert it much further and to maintain it for an increased length of time.
  • Enhanced Strength: Vance is shown to have an increase in his physical strength while using his Dragon Force, an increase that often scares most. The increase to Vance's already monstrous physical strength brings it to a level considered unreadable by most, a single punch being able to send an opponent flying more than fifty meters away with only a light tap. With the increase to his strength, Vance's hand to hand combat becomes even more deadly, often to the point that a single punch to almost any part on a body can completely shatter the bones, along with ripping the tendons and muscles.
  • Enhanced Speed: Along with the increase in physical strength Vance gains a tremendous increase to his speed. While using his Dragon Force Vance is believed able to keep up with the Wizard Saint Shōjirō Kusaka, a wizard known for being tremendously fast. Vance's speed allows him to completely overwhelm an opponent, allowing him to rain down attack after attack before his opposition can react, let alone defend or counter against. The increase in Vance's physical speed allows him to leave behind afterimages when he moves.
  • Enhanced Endurance, Durability, and Pain Tolerance: Vance's endurance, durability, and pain tolerance are also greatly augmented while using Dragon Force. In this state Vance's endurance allows him to fight at his peak for the entire time he is in this form. Vance's durability in this form allows him to take even the most powerful attacks often without even budging the smallest amount upon receiving them. The greatest increase of the three from this form is Vance's pain tolerance, claiming the ability to have an appendage removed without it even fazing him, but this is an unconfirmed statement.
  • Fire Dragon's Thunderous Roar (火竜の轟音, Karyū no Gōon) is an enhanced version of Vance's normal fire based roar spell. This spell, while executed in the exact same manner as his normal roar has an increase in power that many consider it a completely new spell. This spell when used releases a wave of fire so immense that it could destroy a large city, reducing it to nothing more than ashes in only seconds, leaving nothing standing. The fire produced from this spell is doubled from Vance's basic roar, making the fires temperature of this spell three thousand degrees Fahrenheit. This spell received its name from the thunderous noise made by Vance when he expels his fire, a sound similar to an actual dragon roaring.

Draconic Sovereign[]

Vance Draconic Sovereign

Draconic Sovereign (覇龍(ドラコニック・ソブリン), Dorakonikku Soburin lit. Dragon of Supremacy) is an advanced form of Dragon Force. In its roots, Draconic Sovereign is designed to be a highly advanced version of Dragon Force; it is noted to be extremely similar to several "alt modes" of other Dragon Slayers. However, it has a peculiar activation condition—in order to gain access to Draconic Sovereign the user must have bathed in or drank the blood of the dragon that mentored them in their particular Dragon Slayer Magic. Despite this, the activation conditions of both Third Generation and First Generations of Dragon Slayers are drastically different. In order for a First Generation Dragon Slayer to gain access to Draconic Sovereign, they must form a miniature magic brand upon their body, which is forged for the sole purpose of containing the blood of their dragon parent. When the user goes to activate Draconic Sovereign, they will first consume a large amount of their element, as to activate Dragon Force, at which their magical aura flares up and into the magic brand, causing Draconic Sovereign to activate immediately. In the case of a Third Generation Dragon Slayer, to manifest Draconic Sovereign, they must achieve Dragon Force and Drive simultaneously, causing the magic up rise to be channeled into their blood, causing the transformation to initiate. Upon any method of activation, Draconic Sovereign's power causes the user to take upon a more, well, draconic visage, such as developing the organs of a dragon, horns, the tail, and even wings. This of course gives the user an incredible power boost all across the board, but it is incredibly hard to maintain as it drains the user of their stamina and magic at a fast rate—in fact, the most that the user can maintain this form is for fifteen minutes maximum. Despite it's amazing power, Draconic Sovereign has a glaring weakness—if the user utilizes it excessively, then they would be permanently stuck in this form; while the ability to utilize Dragon Slayer Magic would vanish.

Vance had demonstrated that he is one of the very few Dragon Slayers in Earth Land able to activate this ultimate form of a Dragon Slayer. During what Vance calls the most unpleasant and worst memory of his life, Driae, his dragon parent, had asked Vance to kill her do to her being sick and at the end of her life, Vance was told that once he had completed her request to both bath and drink her blood and to do the same with Simca, his younger sister, a request he reluctantly carried out, Vance gained the ability to achieve this state, albeit unknowingly at the time. To activate this ability, and due to being a Third-Generation Dragon Slayer, Vance must activate his Drive and Dragon Force simultaneously causing the magic up rise to be channeled through his blood, starting the transformation—this process is shown to be extremely difficult and highly taxing on his body, requiring his immense endurance to be able to even activate this form once. After reciting his unique chant, Vance is enveloped by fire of such ferocity that it will scorch anything that attempts to near it; the immense heat is enough to start affecting the atmosphere in the surrounding vicinity. After the surge of magic and fire Vance's new appearance is revealed; in this form Vance is now much more draconic is appearance, as he is now sporting a large pair of red and slightly battered wings on his back, as well as his hands and halfway up his forearms now being red scales and his fingers being tipped with razor sharp claws. Across the upper half of his body is now adorned with a red half vest-like top which is connected to itself by a strap that crosses the left half of Vance's chest, holding itself in place, and has a double layered pauldron on each shoulder, the upper pauldron having three large spikes one them, each spike having the appearance of dragons fangs, and the lower pauldron ending in a jaw line like set of needle pointed teeth. Across Vance's lower body is a long pair of red pants with multiple tassel-like pieces of cloth that hang. Along with all of this Vance's hair lengthens considerably and turns a deep blood red coloration, as well as Vance now having flames exuding from his eyes and mouth every time he opens them, as well as his hands, which now constantly glow white hot. The power that Vance gains in this form is shown to exponentially more massive than any of his other forms as a simple wave of his hands can vaporize almost anything it their path. While using this form Vance calls himself the Purifying Flame (浄化炎, Jōka-en), claiming that his fire will purify the impure and return the world to its original state. As stated above, Vance's attributes are massively boosted to extreme heights to the point that he is compared to that of a humanoid dragon.

  • Flight: Due to the addition of a pair of wings, albeit slightly torn and tattered wings, in this state they still provide Vance with a certain degree of flight capabilities. Vance's wings initially appear to be relatively small at first but fold out to a much larger size, appearing as a pair of battle worn wings torn straight off of an actual dragon. The wings despite their battered appearance are highly durable, be able to deflect powerful spells and absorb powerful impacts to them with ease. The wings are able to lift Vance and allows him an almost natural form of flight; while flying Vance is able to preform maneuvers such as dives, rolls, and flips, and can rain down attacks from above while retaining a certain amount of security, but this degree of flight is limited to interspersed bursts at a time.
  • Monstrous Magical Power: In this form considered to be the pinnacle of a Dragon Slayers abilities, Vance gains a massively substantial boost to his reserves of magical power that rival that of Wizards Saint Shōjirō Kusaka, an individual who is known to possess an absolutely monstrous amount of magical power at his disposal. Vance's magic in this state tends to create a constant aura around his body, the most distinctive aura is the flames that exude from Vance's mouth and eyes. With just a minor exertion of this newfound magical power can completely crush the ground beneath Vance, creating a crater, as well melt the surrounding earth. The pressure of Vance's magic in this form is also much more powerful as the exertion can even force others who are normally more powerful then himself to the ground and pin them their for a period of time. When the full force of his magic is released while in this state it radiates off of his body and floods the surrounding areas, this causes anybody with sensory abilities to feel his presence everywhere. While the exact increase to Vance's magical capacity in this state is hard to exactly figure out, the best assumption that anyone can make is rough five times his base level of magical power.
  • Dragon-like Strength & Speed: Like his magic power Vance's physical strength in this "ultimate" form has gained a such a boost that some believe that he could match an actual dragon in a contest of it. Physically speaking, Vance's physique doesn't change much; he does gain a slight increase to his muscle tone in this state. Vance's strength is at such a height in this form that a simple wave of his hand can tear up the surrounding earth, upturning it and creating chasms in its wake, while a powerful punch can create gaping craters in the battlefield, and a stomp can cast earthquakes that can be felt for miles upon miles away. As with his strength, Vance's speed has gained a vast boost; simple motions cause him to vanish, while swift actions leave physical clones in its wake. When moving at top speed in this form Vance can create a physical clone that can continue a conversation while Vance has been long gone, all without a single hint that Vance has even twitched, let alone moved.
  • Dragon-like Endurance & Durability: Lastly, this state provides Vance with a drastic boost to his endurance and durability, again to levels that would rival an actual dragon. The amount of physical durability granted to Vance while utilizing this state is absolutely enormous as a fall from several miles in the air resulted in no apparent injuries to Vance's person and ended with him simply walking away unscathed. Able to withstand attacks of such force that would normally crumble everything touched by it, Vance can withstand even pressures that would normally only be seen in the deepest parts of planets crust without flinching. Along with the drastic boost to his durability in this form Vance also gains a level of endurance that is comparable to it. IN this form Vance's already monstrous endurance is boosted to levels that far surpass almost anything, natural or supernatural, as Vance is stated to be able continue fighting for weeks in this form, but this would be highly improbable as this form can only be held for a few minutes at a single time.

Sigurðr[]

is the ultimate form of Aura Synthesis. This technique is said to be the ultimate embodiment of the Aura Synthesis. Instead of simply projecting the draconic aura outwards in-order to instill fear into the opponent, the user is actually wearing it on their person. In order to achieve such a possibility, the user would have to master Aura Synthesis and have a good control over their own magical power. By compressing the field in which the aura is projected in, they have surrounded their entire body. This forms a small orb of concentrated energy made from the user's own power. Then through shape manipulation, they form the basis of the armor into the shape of the draconic aura in-question. The Eternano particles are concentrated at this point that it begins to materialize a physical form; allowing for the possibility for it to be actually touched. Because of such a phenomena, this in-turn causes them to have a sudden increase in power. Each set of armor is different amongst its users since it's the very manifestation of their aura; shaped through their own design. This also extends to the abilities each one may possess, as it’s suited to both the user's personality and their fighting style. It through this technique that one starts to develop certain traits belonging to Dragons, each one varying from user-to-user. Not only that, they can enhance their Dragon Slayer spells to by certain factors, making them for versatile than before. Not oddly enough, the user can manifest parts of their aura in order to damage the opposition or defend themselves. There are rare instances where certain individuals will manifest weapons along with their armor. It takes the form of the weapon most suited for the armor's primary needs. This is to ensure every aspect of the armor is used to maximum capacity in the period where it’s active. These weapons are known to very power, as it’s made from large amounts of compressed magical power. It also acts as an extension of the user, thus certain abilities can be used through it; Dragon Slayer Magic is perfect for such a thing, as its power will be increased five times over. Those who mastered, or at least able to use the technique efficiently, are able to mimic some of the powers of Dragon Force to a certain degree. This technique cannot be maintained for long, however, as its very strenuous on the body. Only when one masters it to the fullest are they able utilize it without restraint. It should also be noted that the Secret Arts, Ultimate Arts, Dual Element Dragon Slayer Mode, Dragon Force, & Draconic Sovereign are inaccessible whilst its activation; the amount of energy each one possesses, toppled with the extreme energy output of this technique will produce a massive strain on the body. If one attempts to do so, it would me severe injury or in some cases, instant-death.

Vance is shown to be one of the few Dragon Slayers that has the ability to achieve this particular ability. To perform this ability Vance must first release his aura using his Aura Synthesis before compressing it around his body instead of simply projecting it outward, this causes a small orb of Vance's magical power to be created from this; the Eternano particles are concentrated to a point that the magic power materializes a physical form.. From this point Vance will use shape transformation to craft the orb of his magical power into an armor that he can wear, one made entirely from his own power alone. Upon crafting this armor, it is made to his own personal view; the armor crafted often has an extreme draconic appearance, Vance's is no exclusion. Upon Vance activating this ability and the orb of his magical power forming, Vance begins to form his armor as a bright flash occurs. Upon the flash of light subsiding Vance's armor is revealed; in this form Vance's armor is entirely red with darker blue/black accents in the joints and shaded areas of his armor. Vance' armor consists of a large torso piece, greaves, vambrace's, a helmet and a piece of material acting as a cape. The helmet piece of Vance's armor is red and adorned with two spiral curved, blue horns on either side of the face, each one ends along the curve of Vance's jaw, as well as a blade-like spine on the top of the helmet, this spine resembling that of spikes on the back of a dragon. The armors chest piece has the appearance of plate-mail, armor plates stacked upon one another, the center of the chest piece having the appearance of watchful eyes within the separations of the armor plates, as well as three high stacked armor plates protecting Vance's neck. Along his arms are vambrace's that cover the entirety of Vance's forearms and continue roughly half way up his upper arms leaving his shoulders unarmored for increased mobility. The vambrace's are also of more along the lines of being plate-mail and end in razor sharp clawed gloves and end in a large spike coming from the elbow. Along Vance's legs are greaves that stop at his knees, with his upper thighs being covered in a single, large piece of armor. The greaves are plate-mail like the rest of the armor and completely envelop his lower legs, ending in clawed feet and three metal plated across the top of his feet. Vance's armor is finished off with a cape-like material attached to his waist that falls down to just above mid-calf. A sword will often form along with the armor when this ability is activated. While using this ability Vance's abilities are greatly enhanced, but he is unable to use any of his other transformations, such as his Drive, Dragon Force, or his Draconic Sovereign, as well as being unable to use any of his Dual-Element Slayer spells, and his Advance or Ultimate arts. Do to the restrictions imposed on the user of this ability Vance rarely uses this ability unless absolutely necessary.

Explosion Magic[]

Explosion Magic (爆発魔法, Bakuhatsu Mahō) is a type of Caster Magic and is one of the simplest of magic's for a wizard to learn, but is also an incredibly powerful form despite its simplicity. Explosion Magic is a simple type of magic that has a wide amount of uses and casting types; this magic tends to have inherent traits and abilities that are extremely similar to the Bomb Curse in that this magic can be cast at a distance from the user, can be used to create mines and traps, and can be cast directly from the user themselves. Explosion Magic casting is exceptionally simple; the caster will use their own magical power to rapidly excite the Eternano around them, causing it to explode violently. While the casting is simple, it allows for extremely varied sized explosions, ranging from small, barely able to injure at all, to massive explosions that can kill hundreds at once, and an experienced caster can control the size and explosions at will. Through the use of this magic, casters can create a myriad of explosive items and constructs such as explosive sticks, grenade-like objects and a multitude of mines ranging from pressure sensitive to proximity.

Vance has shown to have a very high degree of skill in the use of Explosion Magic, capable of creating a wide array of explosions in rapid succession, and can create an equal amount of explosive items and objects all with a high degree of versatility. Able to cast this magic up close and at a distance, Vance can use this magic to force his opposition into a more comfortable striking range or into a more advantageous position to himself. Vance is able to precisely control the speed, power, size, and direction/trajectory of his spells with this magic. Able to cast a variety of traps with this magic Vance can create multiple types of mines that range from simple pressure sensitive exploding when someone steps upon them to mines that detonate when something gets close to them. Able to create a multitude of items and objects or "delivery methods", Vance can create explosive dynamite-like sticks, handheld grenade-like objects; even capable of making explosive cords that explode gives Vance a highly unpredictable variety to his use of this magic.

  • Shot Bomb (爆発, Bakuhatsu) is the most basic spell of Explosion Magic. To use this spell Vance will hold one of his hands out and will create an invisible bubble of magic, trapping stray Eternano within it. After trapping the Eternano Vance will use his own magic to rapidly excite the trapped Eternano causing it to glow brightly before releasing it forward towards a target and upon the spell touching any object it will violently explode outwards with a high amount of force and will release a small shockwave. This spell can be charged with magical power directly from Vance in order to increase its power. This spell can also be controlled by Vance with a high degree of precision, and can control this spells size, speed, power, and trajectory.
  • Hang Bomb (ハンギング爆弾, Hangingu Bakudan) is another basic spell of Explosion Magic. When performing this spell Vance will bend his arms at the elbow and hold both of his hands out and open with his palms facing upwards. After assuming this position, Vance will channel his magical power into his palms, creating an orb of magic in each that rapidly expands until their the size of something ranging between a basket ball and a large inflatable beach ball. After creating the orbs of magic they will begin to release a vast number of explosive flares into the air that will hang airborne. The flares created by this spell are often times proximity, but Vance will more often than not create them with various explosive types ranging from contact, proximity and impact being the most used. These aerial mines each pack a considerable amount of power to them, but often lack enough power to kill, at least only one of them does, but the detonation of multiple mines can be fatal.
  • Tracker Shot (トラッカーショット, Torakkāshotto) is another basic, yet exceptionally useful Explosion Magic spell. To use this spell Vance must first make physical contact with his intended target, this is necessary as Vance needs to obtain even the minutest trace of his opponent’s magical power in order for this spell to work. After obtaining a trace of his opponent’s magical power Vance will trap stray Eternano in a bubble of magical power with his targets magical trace in the center of the created flare. Upon launching this spell it will actively seek out its target with relentless abandon; this spell will seek its target even through thick foliage, it will bob and weave around obstacles, and track its target even when Vance loses sight of them; this ability makes hiding almost impossible. Due to the actions of this spell, it will not detonate until it is destroyed by another's attack or it strikes its intended recipient, upon the latter it causes a medium sized explosion.
  • Chain Bomb (連鎖反応爆発, Rensa Han'nō Bakuhatsu, Lit; Chain Reaction Blast) is a slightly more advanced Explosion Magic spell. Vance will start this spell by placing his hands together, palms touching, and begin to channel his magic into both of his hands causing them to glow. Once he has enough magic in his hands Vance will slowly pull them apart which creates multiple explosive flares that are connected to one another by a rope of magic. Upon creating his desired amount of bombs from this spell Vance will pull the flares apart and send them floating forwards slowly. These flares do not explode from contact, proximity, or impact and can only be detonated from contact between two of the flares created by this spell. While a seemingly useless spell its true power lies in its simplicity and it true effects are deceptive; while most would avoid this spell in fear of a basic explosion, the flares created while not trackers are drawn to magical power release by wizards and as such an accidental push of one of the flares into another one will instantly cause all of the created bombs to explode violently.
  • Timed Bomb (時限爆発, Jigen Bakuhatsu) is a more advanced spell of Explosion Magic.
  • Landmine Bomb (戦略爆発の配置, Senryaku Bakuhatsu no Haichi Lit; Strategic Explosive Placement) is one of the most useful of spells in Explosion Magic. This spell allows Vance to create explosive traps out of his magic and then place them in a location of his, the locations terrain are of no consequence to this spell. Upon choosing a location Vance will press one of his hands to the intended location of placement before channeling his magic to it — this causes a multi-layered circular array to be created, one the is surrounded by numerous runes and other magical formula-like designs; when casting this spell the runes and magical formulas will change depending upon the type of mine placed. Each mine can also be preset with certain elemental magic's, including Vance's Dragon Slayer Magic, allowing for explosions that consist of more fire and flames than concussive force. Another aspect of the created mines is that they can multi-layered which allows for a single mine to explode multiple times, with each explosion increasing the power of the last; multi-layered mines can also be set with a time delay which causes a brief pause between explosions. The magic circles that denote the mines will vanish a few seconds later and are only visible to Vance or someone using eye or sensory type magic's.
    • Contact/Pressure (連絡/圧力鉱山, Renraku/ Atsuryoku Kōzan) is the most basic of the mines that Vance creates. When creating this type of mine Vance will place his right hand against the ground, the most common area to place this mine, before channeling magic into the ground beneath his hand- this creates a multi-layered magic circle that will glow for a few seconds before vanishing. This type of mine immediately detonates once another creature, human or magic beast, with internal magical power steps upon it causing a violent explosion to erupt upwards.
    • Proximity (近接鉱山, Kinsetsu Kōzan) is the next type of mine able to be created by this spell. Vance will commonly place this mine in an indiscrete place such as upon a wall, a tree, or a rock face. When creating this type of mine Vance will place his right hand against his chosen surface and channel his magic into it- this creates a multi-layered magic circle with multiple runes through it. Once complete the magic circles will disappear and the mine will be set. This mine will violently explode when a human or living creature gets within 2.4 meters (8ft.) of it. This type of mine has a considerable amount of power behind it and can kill instantly.
    • Timed (時限鉱山, Jigen Kōzan) is the weakest type of mine that Vance can create, and as such often serves a more supplemental role than a combative one. Able to be plants on any surface, Vance will place his hand against the chosen location and channel his magic into it creating a multi-layered magic circle to appear but unlike the other types of mines the center of the magic circles will appear as a clock face. Vance can mentally choose the allotment of time before this spell detonates- the time can range between a few seconds to hours and Vance can forcibly increase the rate of time that passes on the clock face, causing the mine to detonate sooner than its original setting. Due to the lack of power that this spell carries it is often designed more for distractions, such as Vance setting them in strategic locations to create the illusion of more than one person, or the mines can be set to cause an artificial act of nature such as a rock slide.
    • Multi-layered (多層鉱山, Tasō Kōzan) is the single most powerful type of mine that Vance can create with this type of spell. Placing his hand upon a surface Vance will channel his magical power into it which creates the standard array of magical circles; from this point Vance can mentally or verbally denote the number of explosions that this mine will cause which is shown visibly with an increasing number of magic circles to the base set. Any other additions to this type of mine such as turning it into a proximity or adding a delayed timer is denoted through the runes and are only shown upon the ring of the magic circle that the specification was added to. Upon completing the casting and specifications of this type of mine it will fade and become active.
    • Flame Mine (放火鉱山, Hōka Kōzan) is a unique type of mine created by Vance himself; this type of mine using the explosive properties of Explosion Magic and combined it with Vance's Fire Dragon Slayer Magic, creating a mine that erupts with more fire and flames than concussive force. This type of mine is cast in the same manner as any other; Vance will place his hand against a surface and channel his magic into it, creating the spells magic circles, from this point Vance will change his magic into fire and infuse it into the mine, changing the color of the mines glow from its usual yellow color to a more orangish coloration denoting the change of elements. This mine is able to be set with any of the other mine's detonation types- contact/pressure, proximity, timed, and multi-layered- making it a versatile type. Once all specifications are chosen the mine will fade and become active. This mine carrier an extreme amount of power, but it doesn't originate from the explosive power but the power of Vance's flames.
  • Powder Bomb (一握りの火薬, A Handful of Gunpowder) is one of Vance's more dangerous Explosion Magic spells. To begin this spell Vance will gather a large amount of his magic in the palms of his hands before using his magic to transmute it into an ash-like dust. Having created a sufficient amount of his dust, Vance will blow it towards his target. Each molecule of dust created by this spell is a very small, individual bomb on its own. While appearing harmless at first the real danger comes from the fact that the dust created is exceptionally fine and can be breathed in without the notice of his opposition; the dust once inhaled will latch itself onto structures inside of the body and absorb trace amounts of explosive compounds from them, creating a tumor-like mass inside of the target. As the created "tumor" reaches critical mass Vance can do one of three things; first, Vance can detonate the bomb anytime he wishes; second, he can let the bomb detonate by itself; and lastly Vance can disarm the explosive by using his own magic to disarm it and let the trace elements gathered inside of the tumor be reabsorbed by the targets body, a process shown by Vance placing his hand against the part of the body and channeling his magic into it. A secondary usage of this spell is simply to scatter the dust and make it explode.
  • Explosive Wave (爆発城壁, Bakuhatsu Jōheki Lit; Explosive Defensive Wall) is the only defensive spell of Explosion Magic in Vance's arsenal. When about to use this spell, Vance will let his magic power radiate from every portion of his body, which in turn causes the surrounding Eternano to rapidly become excited. When ready to actually cast this spell Vance will release a large quantity of magic from his body causing the already excited Eternano to instantly excite which results in a massive explosive wave to be created in a spherical shape surrounding Vance's body. The blast wave from this spell can kill anything that is too close to Vance's person when cast, and will destroy any opposing spell cast towards Vance, and will disrupt anything that is outside the range of the initial explosions detonation. This spell creates a powerful defensive barrier and is able to defend against most attacks and spells, all the while leaving Vance completely unharmed.

Requip[]

Requip (換装, Kansō), also known as Ex-equip, is a Holder Type Magic used by multiple mages which pertains to the summoning of various types of equipment. While a very basic form of magic, and a very common one, as common as other magic's such as Transformation and Sword Magic, Requip is also an extremely versatile and highly effective magic. A Subspecies Magic of Spatial Magic, Requip allows the user to store items in a separate, pocket dimension for ease of access, and by using Requip the caster can quickly and easily summon a desire object from said pocket dimension at any time.

Vance is shown to be able to use Requip only on an extremely basic level, often times only enough to simply change his clothes should they be damaged while fighting, or on a job request. Using Requip, Vance can carry a greater amount of items then with a backpack or equivalent luggage item. Vance's Requip is shown to be moderately fast.
