Irene Belserion (アイリーン・ベルせリオン, Airīn Beruserion) is among the top Mages of Alakitasia, the ones once known as the "Spriggan". Unlike the others, however, she is not a designated Warlord, but more of a "wild card", taking a neutral stance and keeping to herself, the only individual she regularly interacts with being Bloodman. Unknown to everyone else, Irene is the legendary creator of Dragon Slayer Magic, proclaiming herself the "Mother of all Dragon Slayers", and was once the Queen of Dragons (ドラゴンの女王, Doragon no Joō) in the Kingdom of Dragonof.
In modern time, she is only known as the Scarlet Despair (緋色の絶望, Hīro no Zetsubō), the strongest Mage of Alakitasia as well as the only known equal to August, being just as feared and revered as the Warlords, if not more.
