Jötnar (じゅとなあ, Jutona) is a fearsome demon originally created by Zeref. Unlike the likes of Deliora or Lullaby, he is a fully sentient being with free will and human-level intellect, capable of proper speech and higher thinking. For these traits and his strength, Jötnar was and still is one of the most deadly beings ever created by Zeref's magic. His master gave him the simple nickname of Destroyer (破壊者, Hakaisha) for his destructive capability. After Zeref's fall, Jötnar hid himself from the world with a full understanding of what would happen to him otherwise. Hiding in plain sight, he walks the lands as a human by means of his special brand of Transformation magic given to him by his creator. Throughout history, stretching some four centuries, he has been hunted on numerous occasions leading to the ruin of numerous brave men and women that knew not the power of their prey. Jötnar is cruel, malevolent, loveless, the monster children fear in the night, yet, he is also wise. To this day, he walks the streets of towns and villages in the skin of a human.

Trivia[]

  • His appearance is based off the final form of Aizen's Hogyoku transformations from Bleach.
  • Jötnar has the ability to fully change his gender at will.
  • Jötnar, also known as Jötunn , were a mythological race in Norse mythology, separate from the Æsir and Vanir but of comparable strength and ability. As seen through a great number of texts and poems the Jötunn are often in opposition to, or competition with, the Æsir or Vanir. Some of the jötnar are attributed with hideous appearances – claws, fangs, and deformed features, apart from a generally hideous size.
