Misleading Wiki Disclaimer[]
The Wiki Disclaimer on the bottom of the main page should be changed. As it stands, it is very missleading. It states that, “the wiki does not claim ownership of any of the images, videos, or audio files on this website unless otherwise explicitly specified, they are the property of their original creators.” The first part of this sentence is fine as ‘the wiki’ is referring to the Fairy Tail Fanon Wiki. The second part is, however, not true. If a user posts his or her own original content to any page on Wikia, he or she is giving up all rights to such work.
http://www.wikia.com/Terms_of_Use states that all all content is freely licensed, and articals must conform to the Submitting Content to the Site and Copyrights protocol. — The Community Creation Policy, currently found at http://www.wikia.com/Community_Creation_Policy, states that, “Text on FANDOM communities is available under a free content license, meaning the information you put on the wiki can be copied and reused by anyone. This is very important to our goal of increasing the amount of free content in the world, but isn't always what creators are looking for when searching for a content host.”
It is fine for us to prevent plagiarism within our Wiki, but as any other site or Wikia may use any creation here without permission... giving the impression that people maintain ownership over their own work seems like a bad thing.
