The Ten Wizard Saints (聖十大魔導 Seiten Daimadō) are ten extremely powerful and skilled Mages that reside in the continent of Ishgar and work directly for the Magic Council.
Overview[]
In the past in order to become a member of the Ten Wizard Saints, a Mage needed to be granted this title by the Chairman of the Magic Council. However now a mage can only become a member of the saints with approval from the chairman and at least four of the other members of the magic council.
After the destruction of Tartaros, the Ten Wizard Saints banded together and reformed the broken Magic Council except for Makarov, who went to the Alvarez Empire to keep their impending invasion at bay, bar God Serena, who defected to the aforementioned nation to serve under their emperor as a member of the Spriggan 12. Since this point the saints have been direct members of the Magic Council and as such are privy to all the responsibilities and perks that come with that. Though not all the members of the magic council are members of the wizard saints as some members of the saints prefer not to work as part of the council and therefore are permitted not to. The top members of the saints, Kiki, seems to take their duties as wizard saints very lightly as she scarcely responds to summons from the Magic Council.
History[]
Some time after the victory against Zeref Dragneel and the Alvarez Empire Draculos Hyberion, Wolfheim and Warrod Sequen approach Seznam Solomon with the proposition of becoming a wizard saint in exchange for removal of his criminal record.
After the events of June 6th X793, due to him being placed in a comatose state, Jura Neekis's position is relinquished. The Magic Council candidates from all over the world and a selection of Mage's are assembled to determine whether they can be Wizard Saints, amongst them are Asterix Hinata, Kagura Mikazuchi, Kal Dracko, Natsu Dragneel, Erza Scarlet.
Several members of the Ten Wizard Saints, the Fist Division of the Rune Knights and the newly assembled potential Wizard Saints initiate an assault on the presumed location of D.O.O.M's base. Though they are successful, the base is revealed to be a little more than a hideout for several of the elusive organisation's members, the real primary base is still very much unknown.
After his bloody (but victorious) battle with Deidra Mael, Wolfheim is left in a poor state. He later resigns at the behest of Hyberion, who assures him that he'll keep an eye on the rest of the Wizard Saint's, particularly Jellal.
Following the successful destruction of one of D.O.O.M's bases and the resignation of Wolfheim, the new Wizard Saints are appointed, marking the strongest generation of the Ten Wizard Saints. This is positively received by the public.
Strength[]
The Ten Wizard Saints are mages of extraordinary calibre that are presented as the ten most powerful mages in the continent of Ishgar (though it should be noted this is not completely accurate as there are many wizard-saint calibre mages around that are bestowed the title). Each member's strength is not on the same level, as seen when Makarov Dreyar defeated Jose Porla with relative ease and later on when God Serena defeated the four strongest members at the same time by himself.
The four strongest members have been described as being so powerful that they shouldn't even be considered human and are famously referred to as the Four Gods of Ishgar (
