The Cube (三乗,Sanjō) also referred to as the Lament Configuration (哀悼構成,Aitōkōsei) is a ancient prison and magical artifact used during the great war.
Created during the great war, born from the bodies of the dead through the use of Black Arts. Created by the Silence, The Cube served as a prison, once unleashed it would seek out and consume whatever the user wished. Trapping said being(s) into a alternate space with now way out. Once inside, the captured beings would be placed under an unknown curse, causing them to fight and consume one another. With each captured being, the power of the cube grew as did its malice and hunger. Eventually gaining sentience, the cube would attach itself to a user, providing them with great power in exchange for feeding it. Near the end of the great war, due to its growing threat it was locked away within several multilayered magical seals.
- While often used to capture and store demons in order research their power. Since gaining sentience, many different races have fell victim to its hunger.
Behind the Scenes
- The name Lament Configuration pays homage to the the creation of Clive Barker, known as the Lemarchand's Box. A fictional lock puzzle or puzzle box appearing in horror stories by, or in works based on his original stories. The best known of these boxes is the Lament Configuration, which is featured prominently throughout the Hellraiser movie series.
