Hello, Td5 here. For a long time I have wanted to make a blog to link to new and old members. If they have general questions about a character‘s strength. Below are my best interpretations of character classes.
Now before I say anything about the classes, I will say this Fairy Tail doesn’t usually use what I call the Energy Armor Syndrome. While this is a common thing in manga/anime to sum it up. It’s like the Ki of Dragon Ball Z, Busoshoku Haki of One Piece, Reiatsu of Bleach etc. Basically it’s something that when characters that release a type of energy aura of some kind can’t be beaten by someone of a weaker or at least far weaker energy level. Like for example Kenpachi Zaraki of Bleach. His vast Reiatsu makes it too where only sufficiently strong fighters with strong enough Reiatsu can cut/harm him. Fairy Tail doesn’t do this usually. Take for example the Spriggan 12 or even Wizard Saints. They are mostly all humans. Sure their Magic Power gives them powers of varying scales. But it doesn’t seem that having Magic Power makes one have harder skin or have something like a constant shield on them. Even August the strongest overall mage of the Spriggan 12 was stabbed by a knife, was hit by a mechanical arm.
True these didn’t kill him but they made contact and they hurt. Even when he released his Magic Power before fighting Gildarts he was directly causing it to effect something. So when roleplaying (rping) don’t assume your character can’t be beaten just because their Magic Power might happen to be vastly greater. Like remember what Erza said to Laxus about mages of similar types of magic. It comes down to their degree of Magic Power AND technique, experience, and heart. This could be used to explain all mages.
Ancologia/Five Dragon Gods/Fairy Heart Zeref Class[]
Basically these are your most powerful characters. These beings usually always a dragon or god are able to effortlessly destroy a city/town and/or destroy a small nation without sacrificing themselves. They possess truly monstrous levels of Magic Power. They possess ancient and complex magic, numerous types of magic, and/or near absolutely immunity to magic. Characters of this class usually are for story purposes and not rp (roleplaying) unless personally written by your or the other writer(s) you rp with agree to it.
August/Irene Spriggan Class[]
These are usually the strongest human mages can become and can even battle against Acnologia class one-on-one.... for a time. They possess extremely immense levels of Magic Power to the point they can with relative ease destroy a city/town. Or can destroy a small nation at the cost of their life, such as August’s Ars Magia. In rare and specific circumstances they can alter or effect a nation like Irene’s Universe One. They can possess a great deal of different kinds of magic, have ancient magic, or have master common magic beyond what is typically thought of. These should be the strongest characters one should make for rping roles.
- Lacarde Spriggan Class
Kind of a small sub-class. A Lacarde Class is an elite powerhouse that isn’t powerful enough to be an August/Irene. But is respectfully stronger than a typical Spriggan Class. This class usually doesn’t have far more power than a typical Spriggan Class character. Usually they are higher in mastery of certain Magic or they possess very special or specific magic. But their Magic Power can be a step up from the typical Spriggan Class.
Spriggan 12 Class[]
This class has elite mages of high power. Examples in canon are God Serena, Ajeel Raml, Brandish μ, Invel Yura, Dimaria Yesta, Wall Eehto, etc. These mages are powerful possessing immense levels of Magic Power. They can dominate battlefields, and some have spells strong enough to destroy/effect a city and the surrounding area.
Top Four Wizard Saints[]
While the canon rendering of them are a bit disappointing they are suppose to the four strongest officially accepted mages in the Ishgarian Continent. They are considered as not human for the level of Magic Power they posses. While this is just a metaphor by Ooba. It does strike merit that the Top Four Wizard Saints are significantly stronger than typical guild mages and are respectively more powerful than 5th rank and below Wizard Saints. The Top Saint can even rival a Spriggan Class in some cases.
Makarov Saint Class[]
This class is for Wizard Saints of a high level of Magic Power. Usually they are masters of one particular kind of Magic. Or are adept to a high number of them like Makarov, Jellal, etc.
Jose Saint Class[]
This class is for the Wizard Saints of a respectable but lower level than a Makarov Class. They still possess high Magic Power that can make even seasoned S-Class Mages cautious.
S-Class[]
Yes I know this is rather misleading. As many canon main and main secondary characters have beaten S-Class mages of guilds. However, not all guilds are created equally and don’t possess mages of equal power against all other ones. Take Phantom Lord. Their Element 4 and Gajeel were a challenge to the then Fairy Tail main cast. But Makarov, Gildarts, Mystogan (via his Edolas Staffs) and Laxus were far stronger. Possess far greater Magic Power and more destructive magics. But usually an S-Class Mage is a seasoned mage with a respectable amount of power.
Rest soon to come.
